Managing a conflict of interest

[edit]

Information icon Hello, Claudia Berdella. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Shane Bugbee, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Cordless Larry (talk) 19:32, 26 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I’m simply correcting misinformation. Claudia Berdella (talk) 20:00, 26 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It is not simply correcting misinformation if you appear to rely upon personal knowledge to make edits. Please read WP:COI and follow the advice above. — Jkudlick ⚓ (talk) 22:19, 26 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Regardless of whether I’m associated personally with this individual, what have I presented that isn’t backed up? Everything I added was correct: the books and zines, the radio shows, even the legal bit. It’s all on record on the internet. Claudia Berdella (talk) 00:02, 27 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
You have been advised that you appear to have a conflict of interest regarding Shane Bugbee, which precludes you from making ANY edits to the article until that conflict is verified to have been resolved. Any edits you wish to make must be requested on the article's talk page. You are again advised to read WP:COI and follow the advice you have been given. — Jkudlick ⚓ (talk) 00:24, 27 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Again, it’s ludicrous. I haven’t inserted any personal bias, I have added correct and backed up information. Feel free to look up every zine, book, and podcast I supplied for yourself. Claudia Berdella (talk) 00:35, 27 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Also, I don’t have a “personal relationship” with Bugbee, I’m a journalist. Claudia Berdella (talk) 01:10, 27 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
This edit wasn't supported by a reliable source for a start. Cordless Larry (talk) 07:46, 27 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Gee, almost like it was reverted each time before I could go back and give the reliable sources Claudia Berdella (talk) 15:47, 27 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Most editors will provide the citations using {{cite web}} or similar templates at the same time they make the edits. This is especially important in biographies of living persons. Please familiarize yourself with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. — Jkudlick ⚓ (talk) 22:54, 27 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
