User talk:Christy747
Welcome!
Welcome to Wikipedia, Christy747! My name is Ryan, aka Acetic Acid. I noticed that you were new and haven't received any messages yet. I just wanted to see how you were doing. Wikipedia can be a little intimidating at first, since it uses different formatting than other sites that use HTML and CSS. In the long run, though, you'll find that the WikiSyntax is a lot easier and faster than those other ways. Here are a few links to get you started:
- How to edit a page
- Editing, policy, conduct, and structure tutorial
- Picture tutorial
- How to write a great article
There are a lot of policies and guides to read, but I highly recommend reading over those first. If you have any questions, feel free to leave me a message on my talk page. Please be sure to sign your name on Talk Pages using four tildes (~~~~) to produce your name and the current date, along with a link to your user page. This way, others know when you left a message and how to find you. It's easier than having to type out your name, right? :)
I hope you enjoy contributing to Wikipedia. We can use all the help we can get! Have a nice day. Sincerely, Ryan 06:21, August 5, 2005 (UTC)
Hi Ryan~ I don't yet know how to respond properly to a point on a talk page (that is, as a bullet point below the previous one, instead of as a separate heading), but I appreciate the introduction. Wikipedia is definitely different than UBB/PHPBB or HTML, but I think I'll learn my way around eventually. Typing four tildes is much easier than typing out information manually! I had typed out my information that way on a page earlier. Whoops. Anyway, thanks again! :) Christy747 07:39, 5 August 2005 (UTC)
Speedies
[edit]I saw your VfD on Hector trevino. Just wanted to let you know, you can speedy that sort of thing also. Speedy is quicker and easier than VfD. I added the {{nn-bio}} tag to it which is meant for speeding articles about people with no assertion of notability. Once the speedy tag is there, it just takes an admin to come along and actually delete it. Happy wiki-ing. Friday (talk) 19:26, 24 August 2005 (UTC)
- Thank you! I am still learning my way around. Christy747 19:30, 24 August 2005 (UTC)
Scouting Wikiproject
[edit]A number of wikipedians have started a Scouting Wikiproject. Currently, GSUSA is woefully underrepresented, and since yours is the few user pages linking to Gold Award, I thought you might wanna join up and help out. -- Thesquire (talk - contribs) 20:24, 1 March 2006 (UTC)
US Collaboration of the month
[edit]You have voted for Omaha, Nebraska on the USCOTM. It was selected to be this months's collaboration. You are invited to help to contribute in order to improve Omaha, Nebraska in any way possible.

- Reminder: Meetup October 29, one o'clock, Mall of America. Jonathunder 15:30, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
- Sorry for the late notice, but there is a change within the mall for the meetup location today: see this page. Jonathunder 15:19, 29 October 2006 (UTC)
Nice to meet you!
[edit]Christy, it was really a pleasure to meet you today! Seemed like a whirlwind meetup and I didn't really have enough time to get to chat with everyone I would have liked to. I hope we can get together again to talk more sometime! Estreya 00:21, 30 October 2006 (UTC)
Watch those links
[edit]Hi Christy, thanks for your edit on Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness -- it reads better now. However, you broke the link. I fixed it, so no worries for now. Thanks! -- R27182818 15:16, 30 October 2006 (UTC)
- OOPS! Sorry about that, and thanks for pointing out my mistake. Christy747 15:33, 30 October 2006 (UTC)
Congrats!
[edit]Congrats on finding my first secret page (the easy one) in a series of increasingly harder to find secret pages. =) Have you looked for the second, much more difficult to find page? hmwith talk 16:11, 7 September 2007 (UTC)
Meetup RSVP
[edit]Minnesota Meetup
[edit]Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference
[edit]Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.
On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true
. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false
in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being 'minor'. The only thing that's changed is that you will no longer have them marked as minor by default.
For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. If you are familiar with the contents of WP:MINOR, and believe that it is still beneficial to the encyclopedia to have all your edits marked as such by default, then this discussion will give you the details you need to continue with this functionality indefinitely. If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.
Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 18:56, 14 March 2011 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for May 5
[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Spanish language in the United States, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Sweethearts (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 16:12, 5 May 2013 (UTC)
File permission problem with File:OptiganChristmasMusic.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:OptiganChristmasMusic.jpg, which you've attributed to (Album Cover). I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.
If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Ronhjones (Talk) 19:26, 5 May 2013 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. The file File:Pizza with Lasagna and Potatoes.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
orphaned image, no encyclopedic use
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.
Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 01:02, 8 April 2020 (UTC)
