Copying text

In general, it is a very bad idea to copy text from other websites to Wikipedia. In most cases, it is a copyright violation, and such text will invariably be deleted. In cases where it isn't a copyright violation (such as copying from public domain sites such as any site published by the US government), it's still a bad idea because copying without giving attribution to the source is a form of plagiarism, and the tone of the text is rarely appropriate for Wikipedia.
