Enterprise dab page

Are you planning on creating an article for the book referenced on the Enterprise disambiguation page:[1]? If not, there's no real point to the entry since the link goes nowhere. Thanks! Dreadlocke 21:27, 30 January 2007 (UTC)

ST fans are obsessive—I'm sure it won't be a red link for very long. Finding all the relevant places something could/should be linked from, however, is challenging. The link belongs there, and helps disambiguate by noting the existence of something else called "Enterprise", whether or not the article itself exists at the present time. ⇔ ChristTrekker 21:32, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
I disagree with you. If you read the Wikipedia Guideline Wikipedia:Disambiguation, you'll see that a dab page is for resolving Wikipedia article title or topic conflicts, and the entry for the book is clearly not a Wikipedia article title or topic. I'll remove the entry until someone actually creates a solid article that passes requirements for inclusion in Wikipedia - which I doubt will happen because it is not a notable book. And, I, my friend, am a totally obsessive and rabid Star Trek fan... :) Dreadlocke 01:55, 31 January 2007 (UTC)

Hello. I noticed your reformatting of the education section. I'm not sure how it will appear on all screen sizes but I'll leave up to others. The reason the majority of educational institutions formely were listed under Owatonna College and University Center is because (as I understand it, from OCUC's website) is that OCUC does not itself provide courses, but those institutions provide curricula at OCUC. Pillbury College however is independent. So it might make more sense to leave the others under OCUC, with a separate link to Pillsbury. I'll watch this page if you want to reply here. Thanks, and thanks for your contributions to this Minnesota article. Kablammo 20:33, 5 February 2007 (UTC)

I knew for certain that Pillsbury did not belong in that section, and thought that the way it had been done was simply an error. I'm not sure exactly how OCUC operates, so please feel free to correct it. (Perhaps a nested list format would increase clarity.) And FWIW, I prefer to use fairly narrow browser windows, and the 3-column format works nicely for lists of short entries like that one, as opposed to wasting lots of space and having longer vertical scrolls. ⇔ ChristTrekker 20:54, 5 February 2007 (UTC)
I'll do a little research and then convert it to a textual paragraph. That will explain the relationship better than a listing which has already proved to be ambiguous. Kablammo 22:41, 5 February 2007 (UTC)

I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article Jef Poskanzer, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. 131.183.80.245 15:08, 26 February 2007 (UTC)

Hi ChristTrekker. I saw that you created Messianic bible translations. You might want to add it to Template:EnglishTranslations. You also might want to edit English translations of the Bible and Modern English Bible translations to include descriptions of Messianic translations in general and links to the article where appropriate. — Malik Shabazz | Talk 00:06, 28 February 2007 (UTC)

I've been thinking about that, but there may very well be non-English Messianic translations—Hebrew comes to mind. I'll find some place to include a summary, though. ⇔ ChristTrekker 16:25, 28 February 2007 (UTC)

I thought you might like to add Hebrew Names Version AKA:World English Bible:Messianic Edition to your above article. Here is the Website Hebrew Names Version It is in the Public Domain. This is in the Free content resources list I have created at Wikichristian and Wikia:Christianity. Kathleen.wright5 02:41, 11 January 2008 (UTC)

Already addressed on the talk page. Feel free to add to the discussion there. ⇔ ChristTrekker 00:25, 12 January 2008 (UTC)

Your SVG tutorial idea

Sorry for not responding to you comment; I don't come here very often. All I did was use Inkscape and traced over all the curves and used all the features of the program to make the SVG version look as true to the bitmap while retaining the curves and lines. It really isn't complicated; it's just a little time-consuming. --Marco Polo 21:34, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

Village Pump, WP:Undue Weight

Maybe some fresh eyes would help. Being a total outsider to Judaism in general and having read the article Messianic Judaism for the first time, my impression is that the article is very informative, yet has a slight edge of defensive advocacy towards the end where it discusses the controversy between mainstream Judaism and the conflict with Jews For Jesus. Regarding links to your article, in the "mainstream" Judaism article, I see mention of the MJ movement in Judaism#Syncretic_beliefs_incorporating_Judaism which appears to be in appropriate weight to the other topics. Again, this is just my opinion after a cursory glance. -- LuckyLouie 23:58, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

Yes, I went to the example Jewish_Publication_Society_of_America_Version and saw the edit war. I also saw someone added a description that theComplete Jewish Bible was "adjusted to be more suitable for Christians", which is an opinion, and not suitable for Wikipedia, so I reverted it. I admit I know nothing about the subject, but I do sense that there is a conflict between Messianic Jews and mainstream Jews, and some POV editing is going on. LuckyLouie 21:59, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

Regarding "Exploratoary Committees"

You're invited to comment at Template talk:United States presidential election, 2008 navigation, on this proposal:

Proposed Deletion of category "Exploratory" and "Declared" for individuals filing with FEC.

And please note this argument on the same talk page. Exploratory equals Candidate.

Best regards, Yellowdesk 07:03, 20 April 2007 (UTC)

I changed the stub tag to a politician tag because 1) It needed something more than a plain bio-stub tag, 2) the article title uses politician for disambiguation and 3) the first line of the article says he is an American politician so I put him under the politicians. I would say anyone running for political office was a politician. Waacstats 09:17, 16 May 2007 (UTC)

Notability of LaRue (band)

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on LaRue (band), by MER-C (talk · contribs), another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because LaRue (band) seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting LaRue (band), please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Please note that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it did not nominate LaRue (band) itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. --Android Mouse Bot 2 11:13, 6 July 2007 (UTC)

Subcategorizing DD

I really think that splitting Diane's cats into Fantasy and SF is too detailed. I think we should move them back into Category:Novels by Diane Duane.--SarekOfVulcan 20:35, 26 July 2007 (UTC)

I only do this because of Category:Science fiction novels by author and Category:Fantasy novels by author. If a user browses to that category and looks for DD, he should find her, but it seems inappropriate to put Category:Novels by Diane Duane in either one. ⇔ ChristTrekker 20:56, 26 July 2007 (UTC)
Good point, but looking at Fantasy Novels by Author, I see "Novels by O.S.Card", who also wrote both. I'll flip it back.--SarekOfVulcan 13:29, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

I have nominated Category:Fantasy novels by Diane Duane (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs) for deletion. Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at the discussion page. Thank you. SarekOfVulcan 13:48, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Snoopys_brother_olaf.gif

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Snoopys_brother_olaf.gif. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Videmus Omnia Talk 01:45, 21 August 2007 (UTC)

Stuart Dauermann

Now they want to get rid of Stuart Dauermanns biography, i understand that much info is based on his own words but this man seems very prominent and noteble on outside websites from google can u help save it? by correcting the problems if u f=ind some on it thanks--יודל 17:24, 5 September 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for your comment i have found it very convincing, that's why i did some research and added more then 5 outside sources and references to the article, i am in the midle of sifting through the Google results on him and i hope to have at-least 20 outside sources, meanwhile i thank u for your reason i found it very troubling that one group who is the majority can silence an other group because their mission is not in their interest, i hope this isn't like the majority rule here, and i am convinced that if i will be just as loud and active as them i can help stop the deletion of all those messianic articles, et me hope i am not that naive.--יודל 19:50, 5 September 2007 (UTC)

Hi, there is currently a discussion about the notability of Rabbi Shraga Hager your insight on this would greatly be appreciated[2]. Have a beautiful day--יודל 13:10, 9 September 2007 (UTC)

Is this really something that anyone is going to come to Wikipedia looking for? A list of all characters in the canonical Marathon Trilogy would be more appropriate to Wikipedia, but I don't see the point when there's already a dedicated Marathon wiki[3]. --DocumentN 19:24, 6 October 2007 (UTC)

Omaha Public Schools

FYI, I removed the merger tag you inserted into the Omaha Public Schools article here. From how the tag read, you wanted to merge the section with itself. If you re-insert a tag, please explain what your concerns/intentions are on the talk page. Thanks. • Freechild'sup? 01:26, 31 October 2007 (UTC)

Then, with due respect, I don't think you read it very closely. ⇔ ChristTrekker 16:04, 31 October 2007 (UTC)
I agree that there should be a separate article about the schools controversy, but I'm not sure that WP is the best place for it. In the current climate among the editors I'm sure there would be cries to move it to wikinews... If you write the article I'll add what I can. • Freechild'sup? 15:25, 26 November 2007 (UTC)

I've restored the article to User:ChristTrekker/Jim Jagielski. Just for the future, most admins will userfy articles on request, and I'm especially lax in my standards. :) east.718 at 23:32, 11/13/2007

ChristTrekker: Let me know how I can help with the above article... I am somewhat surprised that it was deleted but if Greg Stein was deleted as well (but brought back), I don't feel so bad :)User:Jimjag —Preceding comment was added at 21:11, 17 December 2007 (UTC)

First, I assume that you are actually Jim Jagielski and not merely a rabid fan. ☺ I'd like to get the article restored, and based on the AfD results it seems that mainly it needs independent sources that verify notability, plus some cleanup for "proper biographical tone". But my time is limited and beyond some reformatting I'm not sure where to go with this. Maybe I will try to do at least that much. (If you happen to have any nuggets of A/UX wisdom that you haven't already dispensed, feel free to share. Always looking for an excuse to update the FAQ.) ⇔ ChristTrekker 17:45, 18 December 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for the efforts... I'm surprised that Blaxthos is being so rabid about deletion... I'm particularly surprised by the The threshold for inclusion in Wikipedia is verifiability statement. Certainly whatever "claims" are made in the article are verified and verifiable. And they certainly appear to all be reliable sources (unless his claim is that I'm hacking the ASF site and various Google references to add myself ☺ Heck, if that was the case, that that's notable!) But I'm afraid that it is a Catch22. For example, if he were to complain that the claim that I co-founded the ASF is unverified, I could point to http://www.apache.org/foundation/bylaws.html and http://www.apache.org/foundation/records/minutes/1999/board_minutes_1999_04_13.txt; at which point he would then say that that doesn't matter because now it is a conflict of interest issue, since I am providing the references... Such fun... Jimjag —Preceding comment was added at 18:14, 27 December 2007 (UTC)

List of churches in Omaha

Hey ChristTrekker, thanks for bringing this to my attention. As it stands, I agree with the nom, because there is no encyclopedic value to the list. I ran into this issue early with a list of synagogues in Omaha, where I smashed the AfD by blowing out the article with all the information I could find about Omaha's Jewish community. I will work on saving this AfD today; if I don't, then I will write a mega-article with crazy amounts of info at a later point. • Freechild'sup? 15:22, 26 November 2007 (UTC)

I'd appreciate it if you'd take a look at List of churches in Omaha, Nebraska and add anything you see useful. Thanks. • Freechild'sup? 02:01, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
