I have a question about the status bot

I have the status bot on my userpage; and it says that I'm somewhere. Why does it say that when I'm clearly online. Is it because I don't log in every day, and log in once for the whole two weeks? I'm just curious; and I hope your not busy. Thanks. Lighthead þ 21:28, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

It's dead and has been for a while. Currently working on fixing it --Chris 09:54, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

Why is a train station in California linked in Category talk:Maine ?

I'm not sure what this means in the grand scheme of things, but I happened to notice that Stockton (Amtrak station) is linked to from lists in Category talk:Maine and Category talk:Wyoming, apparently generated by a bot of yours. Any idea what gives? Regards, NapoliRoma (talk) 21:22, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

No idea, I'm going to do a rewrite of the bot soon anyway since it can't seem to stay logged in --Chris 07:10, 12 April 2008 (UTC)

Adoption

I am looking for someone to adopt me. I saw on the list of adopters that you are interested in recent changes. Vandal patrolling and formating seems to be what I am most interested in. Can you take me on? --Adamfinmo (talk) 02:00, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

Sorry, at the moment I don't have the time to take anyone but feel free to ask me any questions if you need help with something --Chris 11:35, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

status bot on irc

Hey. I would just like to say that your status bot got kicked off irc today. He said it was because it pm'ed him when he joined the channel.. I know this is what it is supposed to do but still i thought i should tell you so you know what happened. ·Add§hore· Talk/Cont 15:41, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

Who's "he"? In any case, the bot has been PMming _me_ every 5 or so minutes since I started using it. ffm 21:21, 14 April 2008 (UTC)
Sorry that was a dud output system, I've rewritten it and it seems to be running fine. Also it only pm's you if you have a Status page, if you want it to stop delete User:StatusBot/Status/YOUR_NICK_HERE --Chris 02:42, 15 April 2008 (UTC)

Can you configure the bot to not accept commands from #wikipedia-en? We'd rather not see users using !status in public. --uǝʌǝsʎʇɹoɟʇs(st47) 18:21, 15 April 2008 (UTC)

Ok I'll make It so you have to pm it --Chris 23:19, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
It no longer responds to commands from #wikipedia-en you have to pm it or send the command in #statusbot --Chris 23:33, 15 April 2008 (UTC)

What was unconstructive about my last edit on the Kassam Stadium ? --TwentiethApril1986 (talk) 07:07, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

Sorry my bad. I saw you removing the records section and though you where an ip --Chris 07:20, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

I just moved the 'Records' section into the 'History' section. See my other contributions to Oxford United and the Kassam Stadium. It's all good. --TwentiethApril1986 (talk) 07:24, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

Should you be offering to unblock given it has been identified as a sockpuppet/puppetmaster? I think he had the opportunity to accept your offer and then lost it. John Smith's (talk) 10:52, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

I understand that he has been socking and was blocked for it, but if a blocked user wants to start a clean slate I am quite happy to unblock him. I'm not counting his last unblock and reblock because the reblock was made using evidence from before the unblock. However I think I will go and explain the conditions of his unblock more clearly. --Chris 11:01, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

Just a note, I've added my email address to this account, just in case you need to email me. Thank you so much for your help !! --Landazar (talk) 20:34, 21 April 2008 (UTC)

Status Bot

Hi. I just started using your status bot. On the talk page of said bot, it says "o get it to update you when you login in all you have to do is say !status in #statusbot." How do you get to "#statusbot", because when I click the link (note that I use Firefox as a browser), a display box appears stating that Firefox does not know how to open an IRC protocol. Could you please explain how to make the bot work correctly. Thanks. Cheers, Kodster (Willis) (Look what I can do) 14:32, 21 April 2008 (UTC)

By the way, the box at the top of the page that says "Please feel free to leave me a message" doesn't work. When you type in something in the text box, it makes that into a new page. So if you type in "Status Bot" in that box, it makes a new Wikipedia page called "Status Bot". (See this). Thanks. Cheers, Kodster (Willis) (Look what I can do) 14:32, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
UPDATE: The page was taken off, hence the red link. Cheers, Kodster (Willis) (Look what I can do) 14:52, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
To use StatusBot you need to have an irc cleint installed. Chatzilla tends to work best with firefox. You might also like to read this guide about using irc. --Chris 22:48, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
My question is that not everyone who uses status bot also use IRC. How would you address this issue? OhanaUnitedTalk page
Soxred93 is making a bot for non irc users. Ask him --Chris 08:48, 23 April 2008 (UTC)

Statusbot

The statusbot just says i'm somewhere and the link where I can add my name will not load help. King Rock Go 'Skins! 20:15, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

You don't use irc and therefore the bot won't work for you. Please read IRC for information on using irc or try SoxBot V --Chris 08:50, 23 April 2008 (UTC)

Login/Logout

Does this update for users who stay logged in all the time? When I turn off my computer but stay logged in, will StatusBot think I'm online yet? Bob the Wikipedian, the Tree of Life WikiDragon (talk) 15:33, 23 April 2008 (UTC)

StatusBot can't tell if your logged in or out on Wikipedia. If you are logged in on irc and your nick does not match the string "away" then you will be set as online. If you do not use IRC, it is Soxred's bot that is changing your status and you should ask him about it --Chris 04:47, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

Syntax error

Running Chris G Bot 2 on Category:Melbourne railway lines results in:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING in /home/chris/public_html/cgi-bin/data.php on line 22.

It appears to have not made the output to Category_talk:Melbourne_railway_lines either. Wongm (talk) 13:50, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

Category:Railway stations in Melbourne gives the error Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING in /home/chris/public_html/cgi-bin/data.php on line 203. Wongm (talk) 14:08, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
It appears to be working now. Run the bot again --Chris 09:36, 27 April 2008 (UTC)
