VS System
Hello Chris, I'm seeking some guidance on cleaning up the VS System article if you're still adopting new users. - AllenScribe
Justin.tv
Honestly, this deserves a page. Maybe a locked one, I dunno, but something should be there. I speak as a (formerly) neutral party who just wandered on over *from* Justin.tv to see what Wikipedia had to say. Please unprotect... Thanks. Personman
Chris Nelloms
Why the speed-delete? Given his history in the Olympics and his state/nation al records he does qualify as a significant person (and he is linked on at least a few other Wiki pages.) I don't see how he's much less "remarkable" than, say, Maurice Clarett, who has a lot of information in a similar life story (recentism?) -Thermal0xidizer
Moving Method.
Your moving method of your talk page has been effective, but sadly, it's now made me look like a vandal. Look at my edit count: 1, and look at the user talk section: it looks like I've been doing tons of editing your 13th archive. If I was in another editor review, or in my own RfA, or something that requires looking at this edit counter, other users would think that I edited your archive. What can be done to fix this? Acalamari 02:48, 22 February 2007 (UTC)
- This is a pretty common method of archiving. It's suggested on the archiving page. Nobody will ever question this. --Chris Griswold (☎☓) 04:43, 22 February 2007 (UTC)
Return of the Scumbag Rogue Admin (tm)
(seriously, you could print that on a t-shirt. If you make it, nerds will buy) :D
Regarding that matter we discussed before, I know it's a lot to wade through. I think that an overview of the history (paying attention to the edit summaries) will pretty much verify that few if any contributors get to make edits without getting reverted. He does trot out the old 'disruptive' and 'troll' label whenever addressing my edits. That said, he has been allowing someone to work on a cast section. That is, working on it on a temp page, as SlimVirgin protected the page. I think that pretty much nails the coffin on the WP:OWN concern. He (V) simply doesn't pay a lot of heed to admins or other editors (one of which, a pretty helpful guy simply melted down over this clown's antics here and finally here), The editor is questions seems to be operating in some weird vaccuum, coz his only response was to say, like, so sorry to see you go, here's your hat what's your hurry? I used to think that people like that only showed their colors on the Admin notice boards...Arcayne 05:01, 22 February 2007 (UTC)
Re: Fred Rogers
I realized the error, and I thought that I reverted my own edit... I must not have finished. I was doing the editing at school, and the classes may have changed, causing me to cancel to repair. I'll be more careful to make sure my edits are accepted and acurate from now on. --Luxury-Yacht 20:48, 22 February 2007 (UTC)

GO AWAY NERD
If you don't want personal attacks directed at you, then don't attack me.
It's All About Me, by Chris Griswold
I'm Chris Griswold and I'm under the delusion that I'm a Wikipedia administrator. For instance, when I talk about Wikipedia, I refer to it as "our Wikipedia" so that users think they would actually hire a douchebag like me. You see, I take Wikipedia way too seriously, to the point where it's become an unhealthy obsession. If you look at my photo, you can see why I have no personal life. I'm butt ugly. And my personality sucks. So I spend ALL my time on Wikipedia bothering others to make up for the fact that I got beat up a lot in high school by girls. I also say things like "We are here for you" as if there are others in agreement with me. When actually, no one cares what I have to say because I'm a pain in the ass.
"By the way, some of that's libel, and you are legally responsible for that." Oh, okay. Go ahead and sue me then, little boy.
- Hilarious. I got a little confused at the end about whether you were speaking as me or as you. You may wish to revise for clarity. Otherwise, I think it's good to go. Print it out, put it in an envelope and slap a stamp on that, and you'll be published in Harper's Bazaar easily. But I'm sure a lot of things come to you easily. I'm very proud of you, Rosemary. --Chris Griswold (☎☓) 17:48, 23 February 2007 (UTC)
- Well said, sir! Acalamari 17:52, 23 February 2007 (UTC)
I disagree, Acalamari. I thought his comeback was lame and lacked creativity. Hey Chris, I'm still waiting for that libel suit. Haha!
Battle infobox and fictional battles?
I've never heard of the battle infobox not being allowed for fictional battles. Can you please point me to where it says this for confirmation? I know of some articles that would need it removed. --Hemlock Martinis 06:14, 24 February 2007 (UTC)
- Man in Black pointed me to WP:WAF#Infoboxes and succession boxes. --Chris Griswold (☎☓) 09:22, 24 February 2007 (UTC)

- Ah, thanks very much. Perhaps creating an infobox specifically for fictional battles would be an appropriate solution? --Hemlock Martinis 06:06, 25 February 2007 (UTC)
Hey, did you mean this? Perhaps WP:FICT could be retooled (it claims to be a notability standard), or we could keep the useful tool we have now and write a new one? Any thoughts? - A Man In Bl♟ck (conspire | past ops) 06:58, 26 February 2007 (UTC)
- I do mean it, and while there has been some talk on WT:CMC, I think we need to actually get to this. You and I both fight cruft as much as possible. I mostly restrict myself to comics, and I tend to focus on plot summaries. I would really like to work with you and assess whether what we have can be upgraded to be more efficient or if we need to start fresh. The last I remembered, WP:CMC was going to require at least one secondary source for articles about comics characters, etc. But I think this needs to be on a higher level and to address all of the cruft. I refuse to even go near a Transformers article, and I find I am thwarted in trying to reduce plot summaries to a fair-use level by editors who WP:OWN the articles and desperately want minutiae in the synopses. My understanding of the purpose of plot synopses is that give a general explanation of the plot, nothing too detailed. Character moments, planning scenes, etc, do not belong in these, among other things. Any sort of detail deemed important that does not pertain to the actual plot of the series needs to go in another section for cited analysis, where their value can be judged aside from being a part of the story. I will take a look at what we have. I am a little tired right now, and my thoughts are scrambled, but I would like to work on this with you. --Chris Griswold (☎☓) 09:01, 26 February 2007 (UTC)
Final Warning
If you, Acalamari, or Chris continue to leave messages on my page I'm going to report you for harrassment and have YOU removed from Wikipedia. Now Chris launched the first personal attack on me. If he wants to dish it out and go against the big girls, he better be prepared for what he receives in return. Instead, he goes crying to his WikiFriends, who are under the delusion that they are administrators, and leave messages on my page. Obviously your purpose in life is to make sure that no one vandalizes Wikipedia (which includes misspelling words and things like that). I realize it makes you feel so important, almost like you had a REAL life!
- Actually, I don't go crying to my WikiFriends, they take care of me here because I pay them, just as I pay my "friends" in real life. But you're right: You're attention does make me feel important. I have never been the object of someone's obsession like this before. I think I'm falling for you and I want to hug you and build a snowman together. Please cuddle with me. --Chris Griswold (☎☓) 09:25, 24 February 2007 (UTC)

You're right there Chris, thanks. I hope what I've replaced it with is more objective. I don't know if SG is recorded on Wayback or similar internet archive sites. Captain America
Hi, Chris. You might want to consider semi-protecting Captain America. Several times already today, despite what it says on the talk page, anon IPs and others keep inserting as fact, "Captain America's dead!" This is, course, at least twice for Cap (remember Steranko's run?), and there's been Superman, and Green Lantern, and Reed Richards, and Nick Fury.... Since at least the Daily News is running with Marvel's press release on this publicity stunt, this might go on for days.

If you are here because I deleted a list
Lists such as "Top 100 Cartoons", etc, which are copied whole cloth from an original source violate fair use: Lists created by a single agency are their intellectual property. They are copyright violations and should be removed. It is for this reason that a number of these articles have been deleted.
These lists are described at Wikipedia:Copyright problems/2006 February 4:
"Under US case law, e.g. Eckes v. Card Prices Update, lists of items that are created entirely or primarily as a result of editorial opinion are subject to copyright protection. This explicitly excludes lists which are derived solely from facts, statistics, or polling data, as only opinion based lists are considered by the courts to have the requisite creativity required for copyright protection under US law. Consequently, the inclusion of the entirety of such a list solely for the purposes of adding it to Wikipedia will generally constitute a copyright infringment. Excerpts of such lists can be used in Wikipedia under the doctrine of fair use when they are associated with meaningful discussion of the contents of the list, but under typical circumstances, one should never reproduce the entirety of such a list." --Chris Griswold (☎☓) 09:57, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
- Many of the lists you are deleting are based on polls, an explicit exception in that quotation. Since most of these lists are created for public reproduction, if the legal situation is unclear and there is no evidence the publisher opposes reproduction, the default view should be to keep. I agree that it is fair game to remove a panel-based or editorial list, but removals of public polls or group polls should not be warranted. Particularly so when the entire scheme of the poll was to encourage public reproduction and debate. I think the Mystery Writers' list is unclear on this nexus, and I will leave it be for now. However, I think that much more public discussion is warranted when you are dealing with such highly used and linked articles. Tfine80 15:21, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
- Further, many of the lists you are deleting are based solely on facts available to the public. The Fortune 1000 is just revenue data from SEC filings and other public records. Please stop all the unilateral list deletion until we can have a discussion somewhere. Jokestress 16:57, 13 March 2007 (UTC)

Please elaborate on the concept of "editing patterns" as you claimed in the editing of the bio for Jack Szwergold when you state. "Re-adding because of SpyMagician's editing patterns and his ignoring questions on the subject". --SpyMagician 18:21, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
- Are you or are you not Jack Szwergold?[2] --Chris Griswold (☎☓) 19:15, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
- Yes I am. And I am embarassed I deleted the original bio tag placed by Future Fun Jumper (TIC) because that editor was—and still is—quite abusive and destructive towards anyone who disagrees or casts any doubts on his edits or style of editing. Had he approached things a tad more tactfully, I would have left the tag as is. But his behavior simply got under my skin and I was not going to allow him to bully me in the same way that he has bullied tons of others on Wikipedia. In the case of the edit I made to Maria Schneider's entry, I admit the wording was off, but the fact remains that the site she maintains has not been updated for over a year and a few months. My edit in that case was done to assure that one did not have to do monthly edits—like some have—to reflect the 'frozen' nature of that site. Now that said, please elaborate on "editing patterns"? Are you saying that I can never add edits/material/links to any Wiki article related to comedy based on my past with The Onion? --SpyMagician 19:51, 13 March 2007 (UTC)

- It is perfectly acceptable to take a couple lines from a published article. If you think I've taken too much, it would be better to remove (or reword) the offending lines instead of deleting the entire thing. I'm not sure why the article was deleted so quickly the first time. I'm still working on the article, and it is difficult to improve it when it keeps getting deleted. It was a mistake to delete it the first time. Please stop deleting it. -- Big Brother 1984 10:47, 19 March 2007 (UTC)

- I suggest you familiarize yourself with Wikipedia:Copyrights.
- "... it is legal to read an encyclopedia article or other work, reformulate the concepts in your own words, and submit it to Wikipedia. [...] If some of the content of a page really is an infringement, then the infringing content should be removed, and a note to that effect should be made on the talk page, along with the original source. If, after a week, the page still appears to be a copyright infringement, then it may be deleted following the procedures on the votes page."
- Please notice, that it does not say to immediately delete a questionable page, block re-creation, and threaten the author with a ban. As I said, I was in the process of rewriting the article when you deleted/protected the page. Don't be so gung-ho. - Surely you can't be serious. You violated wikipedia policy by speedily deleting the article in the first place, and you are exacerbating the problem by unnecessarily protecting the page. Check out the criteria for a speedy delete for copyright infringement:
- Blatant copyright infringement which meets these parameters:
- Material was copied from another website which does not have a license compatible with Wikipedia;
- There is no non-infringing content in the page history worth saving.
- The infringement was introduced at once by a single person rather than created organically on wiki and then copied by another website such as one of the many Wikipedia mirrors.
- Uploader does not assert permission (for images: no assertion aside from tags) or fair use, or the assertion is questionable;
- Blatant copyright infringement which meets these parameters:
- Can you really say that there was "no non-infringing content" in the article?... Hardly. Therefore, you made a mistake by deleting it -- especially without discussing the deletion first. "Good Faith" edits should never be deleted outright. I've already rewritten the article and it's just sitting here in Word waiting to be saved. Unprotect the page. -- Big Brother 1984 11:24, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
Angels_and_bernams article - validity concerns
Hi, I saw your warning on the Angels_and_bernams article. I think it is a valid article. I checked several sites including the BBC, and they all seem to back up the claims that the company is 150 years old... Plus it could become a good article, with potential for many interlinks to movie articles, photos etc. I'm not the creator, I was just browsing the New Pages.... thanks --Tomhannen 10:41, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
- Regardless, it reads like an advert and has copyright violation issues. --Chris Griswold (☎☓) 10:44, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
- I agree that the text could definitely be cleaned up to sound less promotional, but I couldn't see any clear hyperbole in there. Can you give me some examples of copyright issues? Thanks --Tomhannen 10:48, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
- I did a search for "With the advent of cinema, the Angel" and got a number of google hits. Now I just need to narrow them down to which has the most taken from it for the article. --Chris Griswold (☎☓) 10:51, 19 March 2007 (UTC)

I managed to figure out most of what I wanted to do. Can you take a quick look and let me know if I am perhaps in danger of breaching the 'conflict of interest' policy? After all, I do work at Futurelab... Nsoucek 11:32, 19 March 2007 (UTC)

Hmm, it seems my attempts to reference havent been terribly successful. there are [1] and [2], but nothing down below... perhaps it makes sense that I should have to put some tags down there? Nsoucek 11:34, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
Cheers for tidying that up for me Chris! I will have to get on with some other work now, is the entry sufficient in order to leave it and not be too concerned that someone will delete it by the time I get back? Nsoucek 11:38, 19 March 2007 (UTC)

Wikivietlit
Hi Chris, I'm writing about your deletion of Linh Dinh's article on Wikivietlit, on the grounds:
"Unremarkable people, groups, companies and web content. An article about a real person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content that does not assert the importance or significance of its subject."
I didn't see Linh's article before you deleted it, so I don't know whether it asserted the importance of the topic.
But it seems to me a that a wiki on Vietnamese literature, written by specialists in the topic, would be important for Wikipedia readers to know about. Articles by Linh, and articles about Vietnamese writers, are scattered through Wikipedia.
How do we proceed to have an article about Wikivietlit at Wikipedia?
Dan Duffy Editor, Viet Nam Literature Project editor@vietnamlit.org —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Danduffy (talk • contribs) 13:17, 19 March 2007 (UTC).
- What we need are articles by reliable sources so we can verify its notability. --Chris Griswold (☎☓) 13:42, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
Chris, thanks for your consideration and that clarification.
The notability policy makes sense for a proposed Wikipedia article about a specific writer. Although the policy in that case would tend to limit coverage of non-Western authors, since less is written in English about them, it would ensure the notability of those that do get covered.
But I am sure you all discuss that, and I see that in fact there are a number of Wikipedia articles about Asian authors without reliable sources cited to their notability. The policy makes the existence of reliable sources like Wikivietlit, and Wikipedia, all the more valuable for getting non-Western topics into the reference universe.
But is there some other policy covering articles about reference resources, rather than writers? Reference sources don't often get written up. That Wikivietlit exists is verifiable. How we will prove that it is notable?
How about a letter from the chair of the Viet Nam Studies Group of the American Association for Asian Studies? One from the editor of Education About Asia? Wikipedia itself already notes our importance, with links from your articles on specific Vietnamese writers to Wikivietlit.
Or do we really have to wait until we get press?
Dan
- Yes, the subject must get press to have an article. It can be Vietnamese, but it needs to be a well-known source. --Chris Griswold (☎☓) 14:40, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
Chris, thanks for your time on this. It turns out we got a writeup last week from Tienve, the leading Vietnamese literary site from Australia. I'll encourage Linh Dinh to re-submit a brief article on Wikivietlit that references and translates form this writeup.
Dan
Chris, just a note to say that I have worked on the new entry myself. An editor put a speedy deletion notice on it just after Linh Dinh re-posted the entry you had deleted, so I expanded on its assertions of importance and verifiable notability, with a summary of the Tien Ve review. Makes a better entry. Thanks for all the editorial attention -
Dan
Taillevent (restaurant)
Hi, I'm the writer of the article Taillevent (restaurant) This restaurant is really famous throughout the world ranking 3 stars (top ranking in France) from 1946 and is one of the leading etablishment in the French cuisine. Could you explain me why you wrote a advert on this article? thx —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Chaica (talk • contribs) 14:25, 19 March 2007 (UTC).

- I heavely edited the article, trying to improve neutrality, let me know if you read sth which could be read as an advertisment, Thx --Chaica 12:17, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for those in-depth notes about the notability issues you put on the article's talk page. Without them, I wouldn't have any idea what you were talking about, and would be force to assume it was an example of drive-by tagging. Good thing that didn't happen, then. Maury 22:45, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
- No, that was drive-by tagging. The template explains it pretty well, I think. Awesome sarcasm, by the way. That seems to be working really well for you. --Chris Griswold (☎☓) 01:53, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
I added categories and a couple references from Google but I need to research my references better. It is linked from al dente (where I found the edit link (term?)) Feel free to suggest more. I am on my 3rd or 4th article now. I often just want to add cultural information wherever I see it missing and feel I can add a little insight or knowledge...often as a stub as to me, it's better than absolutely nothing. I feel it can become a better article/interesting to gastronomists. Thanks for your "new article gardening". Not sure when I'll get to that degree of participation. Booty Master
Greetings,
I would like to be a bit more enlightened as to why the article Booty Master was deleted. I had already one deletion when I started it (it was like after 5 minutes since I started it! Wasn't even able to write paragraph 2!) and this time it gets deleted after 20 days.
I have read all the restrictions and policies and I believe the article was following every rule. Also, I have to add that there are similar articles in this category (online-games) of which many are below the encyclopedic quality that my article had.
I am expecting to hear back soon, Thanks
Panagiotb 14:28, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
- The reason that article on your game was deleted twice is because your game is not notable, or if it is, you didn't show that at all in the article. --Chris Griswold (☎☓) 14:31, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
Firstly thank you for your reply.
Secondly I would like to respectfully object to your reasoning. My defense is that I have not found any rule mentioning that popularity of a subject is to define if an article is suitable or not. If there is such rule, then I call it quits, but I would still like all the info I posted there, for future use mostly - if such thing is possible.
Closing, I would like to add that I have tried making my post non-advertising and instead I tried making it encyclopedic. The purpose of my posting is not different from the purpose that one person would have when posting info for his village perhaps.
Thank you

Hi Chris .. i have nothing to do with the justin.tv entry, i just strolled in. However, i'm surprised you locked it. It's a noteable site that just launched, with plenty of mainstream press coverage. If we allow a writeup for Jennicam, we should allow Justin.tv as well.

Should we add every Justice League they joined too? Like Justice League International, Justice League Europe, Justice League, Justice League Task Force, Extreme Justicee and the ilk for memebrs of the Justice Leagues.? they're all members mind you just doesn't make sense to list them as that when they uis just the same team. (cur) (last) 19:39, 28 February 2007 ChrisGriswold (Talk | contribs) (regardless, they are still teams he belonged to. not sure why these were removed.) answering to that. Example Captain Atom joined Justice League International, Ectreme Justice, Justice League but we should just use a broader term for that just Justice League not the branches they did. Okay? also Martian Manhunter joined every JLA team there was until now should we list them all in? Brian Boru is awesome 17:33, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
- I think we should. They are all separate teams. The current JLA is separate from JLI is separate from JLE and JLAntarctica. To be honest, the Detroit League is really just the JLA, but when I think about it, it's its own separate thing, and it even has its own article. --Chris Griswold (☎☓) 17:51, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
Don't give orders. That's an advice, not an order. :-) The article was sourced and everything, so I felt it was necessary to explain in more detail why I had put the {{db-bio}} on it. Maybe I could have phrased it differently, but given that the sources left no doubt about the veracity of the "rapist" claim, I saw no problem with my statement. Lupo 09:05, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

Hi, Chris. I created a page for Justin.tv and you deleted and protected it because it was 'A7 garbage'. Justin.tv received seed funding from Mountain View & Cambridge based YCombinator. Thanks.

PKDN (Pakistan Developer Network)
I just noticed that you have deleted the "PKDN" page saying that it was promotional.
Well, let me educate you about the PKDN, so that you wont mix up introductions to volunteer organizations with commercial companies and corporations.
Pakistan Developer Network (PKDN) is a non-profit organization founded and being maintained by Pakistani Software Engineers to effect change in the industry.
Can you read "The Free Encyclopedia" right below the Wikipedia title on its logo? Could you please tell me how does it affect your health when a Pakistani organization contributes its page to Wikipedia? Can you not sh!t after that or does it cause some kind of insomnia?
I saw your photograph. Most certainly it was a childish thing to delete the introduction of a registered organization, no matter what is your personal reason behind it. Indeed you do not have a justification.
And if you feel that you do not need to justify; well then why don't you ask the guy (who probably goes out on date with your sister and has given you the privileges to delete pages whenever you feel sick) to shutdown the whole wikipedia website?
Anyway, I don't think this place is worth my even one more minute. Just so you know, PKDN is still alive and kickin'

Holy freaking cow
CONGRATULATIONS! That's a great school. It's no Columbia, but... :-) Judging from your work here, I don't have any doubt that you're going to be an exceptional journalist, if that's what you do go on to pursue. It mostly isn't a huge-paying profession, but you can do alright — and the intangible reward of doing good in the world ("Comforting the afflicted and afflicting the comfortable," as Fred Friendly jocularly put it), spreading knowledge to those who want it and shining a light on those don'gt, well, there's nothing like it. I feel I've gotten to know you a little through these anonymous edits, and I couldn't be more sincere in my congrats and good wishes. Go get 'em! -- Tenebrae 19:54, 30 March 2007 (UTC)
- Congratulations. I remember so many things so clearly from the day I got accepted into graduate school. The moment you find out you've been accepted marks one of those milestones in life when you're suddenly plugged into your future, a dividing point in your personal timeline. I'll pass along to you what one of my professors said to me back then: "Enjoy the moment. There aren't many like it in life." As for your particular profession, you'll be darn good and it, and as for the money, hey, I know people who've made a lot of money at it. Most importantly, if you enjoy what you're doing, that's part of what life's about. Doczilla 05:35, 1 April 2007 (UTC)
- I want to add my voice to the chorus as well: big congrats. I just got into my program of choice as well, and can attest that it's equally exciting as it is nerve-wracking. Your editing here defiantly shows the same kind of ability it takes to approach journalistic writing skillfully. You'll do great. ~CS 05:53, 1 April 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks, guys. I actually talked my way into Ohio U, one of the top American journalism schools, just as they were about to send me a denial letter. Is it odd that I am perhaps prouder of that than of getting into Syracuse without the phone call? --Chris Griswold (☎☓) 04:36, 6 April 2007 (UTC)
- Nope, there's nothing odd about that. Persuasion and related social skills are better predictors of career success than academic history anyway, and I say this as someone who's been a professor for 15 years. Did you see the movie Clueless? This reminds me of the scene when the main character's father was "as proud" of her for talking her teachers into giving her higher grades as he would have been "if they were real grades". Why did you delete and lock Boh3m3?
I never saw the page so I have no idea what state it was in; but won't readers of The New York Times and CNET, to say nothing of his cult audience that numbers in the tens of thousands, doubt Wikipedia's hot button relevance when they can't find information here on one of YouTube's highest-profile celebrities? According to the Wikipedia notoriety rules, shouldn't his nomination for a YouTube Video award alone, a contest garnering widespread media coverage, be enough to qualify him as "Wiki-notable"? I understand why this site needs to be somewhat selective, especially when it comes to persons, but really: how can Boh3m3 be deleted when, with the exception of Leather Boy, each of the Great Lakes Avengers has a well sourced and thorough entry? Van Helsing
Hi Chris, if you're around, we could use an Admin. to keep an eye on Abraham Van Helsing. Rei-Ginsei, an editor who is, uhm, enthusiastic about contemporary vampire pop-culture, is repeatedly moving the page, reverting others' edits, and changing content to move the focus away from the literary character. - Looks like he also got Gloriatugwell (talk · contribs). Also keep an eye on Sarahsouth (talk · contribs), not sure if that one's a sock puppet. – Paschmitts 13:16, 8 April 2007 (UTC)
- Sarahsouth (talk · contribs) is now confirmed as another sock puppet. I've also requested semi-protection for the page. – Paschmitts 02:42, 9 April 2007 (UTC)

Thomas Jefferson High School Page
I posted yesterday about the Thomas Jefferson High School, Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania page. I think you've done a good job making sure the info there is correct by stopping obvious vandals (I read some of their bad edits in the history). But there is actually a lot of incorrect information in the page right now.
I mentioned this on PASchmitts page, too, since he seems involved in the TJ page as well. Where did the original info for the school come from? Much of the current info seems to be from past edits from vandals. I don't think some of it is accurate. I went to school there in the mid 1990s and I need to check on things but they don't look correct. I'd like to help keep my Alma Mater's page correct and it would be great if you had citations for the info currently there so I can see if it matches with what I remember. Cheers! --TomNolder 11:13, 10 April 2007
Sourcing for Nephi Malit article
Why is the article on Nephi Malit still tagged as unsourced? I don't understand.. redporcupine 00:14, 12 April 2007 (UTC)
Incivility question?
I say this with the feeling that the person whom I'm talking about will not only come here to tell me I'm being incivil, but accuse me on my own talk page as well... I need help. I have a user who has decided I'm being uncivil by having a discussion about him with another editor. I later mention the user in passing to another editor (to elaborate a point) and am rewarded with being told I'm being uncivil. Most of it's on my talk page. If you can help a sister out ... I'm thinking I should just ignore him and move on, but I'm not sure where you draw the line on these things sometimes. Thanks. -- Ipstenu (talk|contribs) 03:35, 12 April 2007 (UTC)
- Ipstenu, we dealt with the issue two weeks ago. I've moved on yet you persisted to make a personal statement on Doc's user talk stating that my comments were part of a "snarkfest". I guess I too am wondering where the line is drawn. I've dropped the matter since then and agree with some points mentioned regarding consensus. I for my part offered my apologies for my perception on certain principals, and in fact mentioned that two weeks ago on J Greb's user talk. I'm uncertain why you dragged a name into the discussion, once more, two weeks later...rather than focusing on the editing practice you disagreed with? Can you please exercise courtesy at this point. That is all I am asking, which I think is reasonable as long as I do the same. And I'm concilliatory towards doing this. Regards. Netkinetic(t/c/@) 04:00, 12 April 2007 (UTC)
Since you've gotten hit with this, Chris: If you'll check my talk page, you'll see that Ipstenu struck out the word "snarkfest" to clarify her/his meaning and "to be less pejorative." Doczilla 04:20, 12 April 2007 (UTC)
- If it helps anyone feel better, I'm asking Chris for advice on how to handle this, as a fellow editor whom I happen to respect, because I don't feel capable of being as fair minded as I'd like to be. -- Ipstenu (talk|contribs) 04:23, 12 April 2007 (UTC)
Help me with Boh3m3's deletion review
An editor has asked for a deletion review of Boh3m3. Since you closed the deletion discussion for this article or speedy-deleted it, you might want to participate in the deletion review. I think you protected "Boh3m3" because you saw people restarting a page that was justifiably deleted. He is more notable now. Please help me bring the page back. New start?
Hey Chris; if you cast your mind back to the mists of Wikipedia a year and a half ago :), you might remember that we got into a little dispute ... my fault, of course. I'd just like to post this (late) apology for my conduct then: I was new, and foolish. Hopefully, you don't bear any grudge for my manner at that time. Don't hesitate to drop by my talk page!
Kind regards,

Regarding speedy tags
You are incorrect - Anyone who isn't the author can remove speedy deletion tags. Thanks for your attention to this in the future. --badlydrawnjeff talk 16:40, 26 April 2007 (UTC)

WikiProject Pittsburgh Question
Hi Chris, I'm a new member of the WPP, and I was just curious what the Pittsburgh Massage Parlor War was on the Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Pittsburgh to do list. I also wanted to say hi as a fellow Pitt Band Alum (clarinet, fall 01-spring 05, brother of KKPsi). Thanks! Cln23 18:20, 26 April 2007 (UTC)
Re [3]
The evidence of abusive sockpuppetry was adequately described in the checkuser request. Also, note that the checkuser request would have been rejected had it not set forth evidence of abusive sockpuppetry. John254 17:54, 29 April 2007 (UTC)
Request for Arbitration
Based on the evidence of abusive sockpuppetry provided on Wikipedia:Requests for checkuser/Case/ChrisGriswold and Wikipedia talk:Requests for checkuser/Case/ChrisGriswold, I am filing a request for arbitration against you. Please see Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration#ChrisGriswold. John254 03:42, 30 April 2007 (UTC)
In a mess and need an admin(s) look see
I think I've gotten myself into a situation where all I doing is making things go from bad to worse.
I'll try to nutshell this as much as best I can.
The start point is a series edits from early April between the Whizzer and Squadron Supreme articles. One of the focal problems there was Asgardian insisting on including an uncited, editorial opinion as a citation. He took exception myself and other editors removing it. He really took exception when, after he added the exact same "cite" to the Whizzer article on the 19th, I removed it calling it "crap edit content".
This has been going back and forth now for over two weeks, covering these articles: Whizzer, Speed Demon, Blur (comics), Doctor Spectrum, and to a lesser degree Squadron Supreme, Hyperion (comics) (A moved it from (Marvel Comics)), and Hyperion (Supreme Power) (A had moved it to Hyperion (Squadron Supreme) even though that created link confusion). It has also streached to the talk pages of myself, User talk:Asgardian, User talk:Tenebrae, and User talk:Ipstenu.
At this point I've got:
- A not-so-nice back and forth w/ A on my talk.
- A growing level of frustration with A's blanket reverts and attitude of ownership.
- A growing desire walk away (see my post at Tenebrae's talk).
At this point I need an admin or two (yes, you're one of three I've asked) who aren't involved, are fair, and don't brook BS, to look at this mess and smack it up side the head. At this point I really don't care if I'm the one call on the carpet for it, I just want a clear call on it.
Thanks, whether or not you get a chance to look at this. -J Greb-

Stepping down
Chris, if you want to voluntarily desysop yourself, you will need to leave a note at meta:Requests for permission. The stewards will probably ask that you leave a confirming note here as well. Good luck in the future. Thatcher131 11:21, 1 May 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks. I've gone and done it. Unfortunately not before others got there. Oh well. It's done. --Chris Griswold (☎☓) 04:56, 2 May 2007 (UTC)
[Thread removed]
No need for more of this nonsense.
PS: Chris, if you're taking a break, can I suggest you archive your talk page, and I'll protect it from editing until you get back (that's perfectly legitimate, as there'll be no need to leave you messages during that time)? I can do the same for your userpage upon request (at the moment, the protection for edit warring lasts twenty-four hours), if you want it preserved for the time being. Just drop me a note or an email. Cheers, Daniel Bryant 08:31, 4 May 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks, I will archive. Please do protect these pages later today. I appreciate the kindness. --Chris Griswold (☎☓) 12:32, 4 May 2007 (UTC)
