Another Thanks
[edit]When I did the OK Conference page I thought I was pretty good at the spelling but thanks for correcting the few I had. I appreciate the hard work you do. --Mihsfbstadium 01:08, 12 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit]There were at least 10 typos and grammar errors in Hamsterball. I tried removing them all, but there were so many that I didn't have the time. Thanks for helping me finish up. Random the Scrambled 10:38, 31 May 2006 (UTC)

typo catch
[edit]thank you much for getting that typo in Kohlberg's stages of moral development. keep it up! if you get really into it like i do, you should consider getting a bot account, and i'll give ya some tips on how to edit faster and more efficiently (i swing with JoeBot, doing the same thing you do). in any case, thanks for making the article better; i'm particularly fond of that one. :) JoeSmack Talk 04:09, 5 June 2006 (UTC)
Clone Changes using AWB
[edit]I noticed that on Ra's Al Ghul, you changed clone to clone... seems that in that particular case, clone would've been more appropriate. You might want to review the AWB works to check on other pages where a more case-specific disambig could be made. If not, please let me know why Cloning's better? ThuranX 05:31, 18 November 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for pointing this out. On my initial pass on 'clone' links I used 'Clone (genetics)' but then it appeared that 'Cloning' was being changed to handle all various forms of cloning. It seems I caught that page in the middle of a number of edits (some vandalism). Probably should have stuck with the 'Clone (genetics)'. Anyway, I went back and reviewed all the 'Cloning' changes and updated where I thought appropriate. ChrisCork 03:28, 20 November 2006 (UTC)
Clinical Psychology page
[edit]I saw your edit creating an internal link to the "disease" article. Wouldn't it be better to link to the "mental disorder" page? Steve 05:26, 22 November 2006 (UTC)
- I went back and reviewed a bunch of articles and changed the link to 'mental illness' (as well as other options) where I thought appropriate. Thanks for the suggestion! ChrisCork 14:39, 24 November 2006 (UTC)

A question on AWB
[edit]Hi fellow wikignome, I wonder if you could help me in this. I have also applied for AWB and it was accepted, so I tried to dowload it and the file doesn't execute. I use Firefox for browsing mostly, should I use IE to (re-)download the file? Hoverfish 07:42, 13 December 2006 (UTC)
- Hey Hoverfish. Welcome aboard. Hopefully I can help you with this. It should have anything to do with downloading the file from Firefox or IE. The AWB requires version 2 of the .NET framework to run properly. Look under 'Control Panel'...'Add or Remove Programs' to see if you have 'Microsoft .NET framework 2.0' installed. I also both Firefox and IE for browsing and have noticed that if I'm logged onto Wikipedia under Firefox and run AWB, I need to log in again. Hopefully this helps. If not, please let me know and I can try to assist further. Good Luck! ChrisCork 01:50, 15 December 2006 (UTC)
Myasthenia Gravis
[edit]Thanks for correcting some typo's. Since i'm not a native speaker i think the grammar could use a bit smoothing here and there too. Feel free to take a look at it! Pizzaman79 16:02, 17 December 2006 (UTC)
Disambiguating "Native Americans"
[edit]On History of tax resistance you've twice changed an internal link to "Native Americans" to point to "Native Americans in the United States" instead. But this particular instance is referring particularly to Native Americans in Canada, so you are making an incorrection. Please stop. -Moorlock 03:52, 22 December 2006 (UTC)
- Sorry for the duplicate change. Would Aboriginal peoples in Canada or First Nations be a better fit? If not, maybe removing the link to the disambiguous Native Americans page would be best. ChrisCork 04:09, 22 December 2006 (UTC)
Your edit

I dropped by WP:TYPO today and I was more than impressed with what I saw. I appreciate all your efforts in fixing typos and repairing links, so I would like to to give you this Minor Barnstar, which you truly deserve. Your diligence amazes me! May God give you the energy to keep it up. ← ANAS Talk? 13:58, 11 January 2007 (UTC) |
- Thanks very much! I really appreciate it. It's hard to find the time to write articles (maybe someday), so minor edits are my way of giving back. Thanks again. ChrisCork 04:27, 12 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit]An automated spell checker built into wikipedia would be helpful, but would probably slow the interface up. StudyAndBeWise 05:59, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
- No problem. I think there are some automated and semi-automated spell checkers. I just use AWB and that helps speed up the changes. I don't mind though, it's a way that I can help. ChrisCork 19:44, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
- Use Firefox 2.0 and you get a spell checker built in. You can also download sane (i.e. GB, AU etc) dictionaries. Rich Farmbrough, 10:06 9 February 2007 (GMT).
A.D. => AD
[edit]Hi, I noticed you'd AWB'd this in Scientific Revolution, however it is in a book title, so I have undone the change. Regards, Rich Farmbrough, 09:55 9 February 2007 (GMT).
- You are correct, the title of the book does have it as 'A.D.'. I'm surprised (and sorry) I overlooked it. Thanks for being civil about my error. =) ChrisCork 12:55, 9 February 2007 (UTC)
The first time I assumed your edit was an accident, but now it's getting into the area of vandalism. Dlong 02:19, 18 April 2007 (UTC)
- Relax....I didn't realize I changed it twice. A simple mistake. Since the link to 'Crater' doesn't seem to make sense, you may want to clean it up yourself. ChrisCork 02:23, 18 April 2007 (UTC)

Gentle Reminder
[edit]I just undid an AWB revision that you made to Katahdin Iron Works. Please do not apply Wikipedia style conventions to the titles of sources; we don't control them. (Similarly, we wouldn't copyedit quotations.) GRBerry 13:31, 4 September 2007 (UTC)

Disambiguation link fixing one-day contest
[edit]I have decided to put on a mini-contest within the November 2013 monthly disambiguation contest, on Saturday, November 23 (UTC). I will personally give a $20 Amazon.com gift card to the disambiguator who fixes the most links on that server-day (see the project page for details on scoring points). Since we are not geared up to do an automated count for that day, at 00:00, 23 November 2013 (UTC) (which is 7:00 PM on November 22, EST), I'll take a screenshot of the project page leaderboard. I will presume that anyone who is not already listed on the leaderboard has precisely nine edits. At 01:00, 24 November 2013 (UTC) (8:00 PM on November 23, EST), I'll take a screenshot of the leaderboard at that time (the extra hour is to give the board time to update), and I will determine from that who our winner is. I will credit links fixed by turning a WP:DABCONCEPT page into an article, but you'll have to let me know me that you did so. Here's to a fun contest. Note that according to the Daily Disambig, we currently have under 256,000 disambiguation links to be fixed. If everyone in the disambiguation link fixers category were to fix 500 links, we would have them all done - so aim high! Cheers! bd2412 T 02:08, 18 November 2013 (UTC)
AWB
[edit]Hey ChrisCork,
I saw your recent edit to Kuwait News used AWB. I've seen this tool used frequently on Wikipedia but I've never figure out how it works. I've read through the links and pages directed to AWB but still no luck. You think you could briefly explain how they work or how you use them? It will definitely be helpful and save me some tedious editing that would otherwise be done manually. Thanks in advance! Meatsgains (talk) 05:55, 11 February 2014 (UTC)
Hi ChrisCork, thanks for your amendment to Crolla, but a quick question for you. I didn't fix 1940s and 1950s as it was within a quote in The New York Times – I personally dislike apostrophes to denote periods and never use them as I consider this a clear misuse, but not everyone shares this view, as shown by this piece in NYT. So, if it's in a quote should it be left as is, warts and all? Let me know what you think because I'm not sure. Do strongly prefer this version so happy if you agree we leave this as is. Certainly seems to make sense for consistency as I started the piece talking about the 1980s minus apostrophe! Libby norman (talk) 11:40, 24 March 2014 (UTC)
- On second thoughts, I'd better change this back as I've checked the guidelines. Libby norman (talk) 20:41, 24 March 2014 (UTC)
- Sorry for late response. You were right to revert my change. I should not have changed it since it is within a quotation. ChrisCork
