This barnstar is to thank you for running the Counter-Vandalism Unit Academy course, for answering all my questions and providing a lot of useful feedback. Thanks! Michael Anon 16:57, 2 August 2012 (UTC) |
- Thanks, Mike! This will be added to my user page, in time!--Chip123456 17:01, 2 August 2012 (UTC)
I have brought up your name at ANI. Please comment there. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 03:14, 3 August 2012 (UTC)
Hi, Chip123456. While non-admin help and comments are welcome on the various noticeboards such as AIV and UAA, please make sure your remarks are marked as non-admin observations. You can use the {{nao}} template for this purpose. Here's a recent case from the UAA noticeboard where you declined the report and Electriccatfish2 removed it from the board. This case therefore never actually saw any administrator attention, which is the whole purpose of these noticeboards. There's further discussion at Wikipedia:ANI#Electriccatfish2 and Chip123456 and some remarks at Electriccatfish2's talk page. Thanks. -- Dianna (talk) 04:18, 3 August 2012 (UTC)
- Hey, Diana! That diff there shows my comment, not a closure, can you find a better link for me, please! I had an email from Dan Case saying he had no problem with this, I'll be happy to forward it to you! Also, I haven't made an NAC in a while, could you point me to a correct recent link. Thanks.--Chip123456 07:01, 3 August 2012 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) This may have been a mistake to include you in the report from what I can see, Chip. Electriccatfish2 has some explaining to do, but from what I'm seeing you seem to be in the clear of any undue closing/removing of reports. I don't see you closing the report in question, and I don't know why you were named to begin with; but I know both the editors commenting here, and I know that they are only acting in good faith. Everyone makes mistakes, of course. Just my 2p, and if I'm missing something please let me know. Cheers :> Doc talk 07:52, 3 August 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks for the support :). I have to admit that when I saw this, this morning, I was a tad confused! But, saying that, we just can't single out ECF2. Although he has been advised on many occasions, its not just him doing it - Maybe, when I'm at my computer, ill give him a nudge to inform him. Again, thanks!Chip123456 08:00, 3 August 2012 (UTC)
- What you and NTox have been doing, removing declined and stale reports, is good work that is needed. And from what I can see, ECF2 has been generally helpful doing this task as well: but needs to make less mistakes like they did recently. His pass is over, and he cannot again close reports that have not received administrative attention. And he certainly cannot remove reports that he has closed himself. Motivate him! I know you can do it! Happy editing! Doc talk 08:11, 3 August 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks, I will motivate away. I have posted a short statetment on ANI, so hopefully that will be it and ECF can be dealt witht hen. Thanks for your help, it has been appreciated!Chip123456 08:16, 3 August 2012 (UTC)

I'm leaving! Bye! Electric Catfish 12:14, 3 August 2012 (UTC)
Note
My apologies to you, for dragging you to ANI. You merely commented at that UAA. No harm in that. And Catfish has severely overreacted to my complaint. I didn't ask for him to leave, but merely to stop usurping admins' responsibilities. Maybe he'll come back soon when he chills out. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 12:38, 3 August 2012 (UTC)
- Thank you, apology accepted! I think its just the initial shock of him being taken to ANI, I'm sure he'll come back, maybe as ECF or under a new identitty, when he's had time to relax. Again, thank. You for your apology, I just didn't want a black mark against my name, no harm done!Chip123456 12:46, 3 August 2012 (UTC)
- Guys, nothing against either of you. I'm a very sensitive guy and that ANI report really shocked me. I'm going to be coming back in a few months. I've discussed it with Worm TT over e-mail. I'll have him adopt me and be my mentor. Also, Bugs, I'm not mad at you or anything, but please see WP: GAIV. Best, Electric Catfish 13:27, 3 August 2012 (UTC).
My apologies also, Chip. It looks like my statement that you had "declined" a report was a little over-stated; all you did was comment, like you said. As long as your comments are labeled as non-admin obervations, it's perfectly okay for you to investigate reports and make comments. -- Dianna (talk) 15:25, 3 August 2012 (UTC)
- Hey, Diana, no problem! Accepted, of course.--Chip123456 16:41, 3 August 2012 (UTC)
- I feel like I could have handled the whole affair better, and have said so to Catfish. I will not respond to ANI threads late at night any more unless it looks like a dire emergency. This thread could have waited, as Catfish never edits past 0200 UTC. Anyway, thanks for accepting my apology. See you around. -- Dianna (talk) 17:00, 3 August 2012 (UTC)
- Diannaa, you handled it as you deemed appropriate. Maybe you could of looked at the diff a bit better to avoid me from ANI, but hey, we all make mistakes.--Chip123456 17:03, 3 August 2012 (UTC)
