[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate your contributions, but in one of your recent edits to 2022 Sri Lankan protests, it appears that you have added original research, which is against Wikipedia's policies. Original research refers to material—such as facts, allegations, ideas, and personal experiences—for which no reliable, published sources exist; it also encompasses combining published sources in a way to imply something that none of them explicitly say. Please be prepared to cite a reliable source for all of your contributions. You can have a look at the tutorial on citing sources. Thank you. UtoD 14:08, 15 April 2022 (UTC)
- Kindly, let me know which source is not reliable here ChinthakaGK (talk) 12:13, 16 April 2022 (UTC)
- Per WP:UGC social media are only reliable in very specific instances and all content must be cited and sourced. Also you cannot give WP:UNDUE weight on minor topics or promote individuals or use wikipedia as a platform for individuals or groups which is violation of WP:SOAPBOX and WP:PROMOTION policies. -UtoD 21:21, 16 April 2022 (UTC)
- @UtoDSince this hashtag is a very important event in this current popular revolution, I will include more credible sources and republish it. Unfortunately, Facebook and Twitter posts about the origins of the hashtag are social media, so I have no choice but to cite them. But it is a known fact that this was started by Dr. Kerner and several media outlets have interviewed him about it. So I've included one of them to quote it. It's not my exaggeration from my point of view, because it's true. Can you please tell me how to notify this in an acceptable way? ChinthakaGK (talk) 01:52, 17 April 2022 (UTC)
No. You are putting WP:UNDUE weight. Excessive weight for a single hashtag and then using it as a WP:SOAPBOX should not be done. UtoD 03:22, 17 April 2022 (UTC)
- @UtoDThanks for further clarification. But the hashtag is the main reason for people to join the protest, encouraging them. It is a great shortcoming to continue this article without knowing that background. ChinthakaGK (talk) 07:50, 17 April 2022 (UTC)
- I will mention all the major hashtags used in the protest to avoid the misunderstanding of WP:UNDUE weight. Also, will remove all social media references and keep the paragraph from a more balanced point of view, I hope this will be good. ChinthakaGK (talk) 08:11, 17 April 2022 (UTC)

[edit]Please do not add original research or novel syntheses of published material to articles as you apparently did to 2022 Sri Lankan protests. Please cite a reliable source for all of your contributions. Thank you.--Chanaka L (talk) 04:15, 18 April 2022 (UTC)
- @ChanakalYour comments are appreciated and I will try to add more citations from a trusted source and continue to improve. ChinthakaGK (talk) 05:51, 18 April 2022 (UTC)
