Speedy deletion nomination of JRocs

[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on JRocs requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. A tag has been placed on Showa Shins, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

Your draft article

[edit]

Hello, Chiesco, and welcome to Wikipedia! User:Peridon suggested that I take a look at your draft article about Showa Shins. I'm sorry to say that I don't think this article, or any article about this subject, is likely to be accepted at Wikipedia. The problem is that there is no independent reliable coverage, which means sources or references where important sources write or talk about him. Wikipedia has other guidelines for articles about a musician; they can be found here: WP:MUSICBIO. His career is just beginning, and I don't believe he has met these guidelines at this point. If I am mistaken and you think he HAS met the criteria, tell me how, and I will take another look.

I realize this can sound harsh. But Wikipedia is not just another website; it is an international encyclopedia. As such, it has standards for what kind of subjects can have articles here. The subjects have to be "notable", which basically means famous. And there is a very specific definition of what makes a subject "notable" enough for an article: It has to have received significant coverage from independent reliable sources. In the case of Showa Shins, I could not find ANY coverage about him at all from independent sources. "Independent" sources means sources which are not controlled or supplied by the subject or by interested parties of the subject. That rules out Facebook, YouTube, private blogs, IMDb, press releases and so on. The subject has to have been noticed, such as reviewed, by reliable third party sources such as newspapers, books, etc.

This is not a problem with the way your article is written, and rewriting or improving the article won't help. The problem is with the subject himself. At this point I just don't think he meets Wikipedia's guidelines for an article. Maybe later, after he meets some of the criteria at MUSICBIO.

I am just one person and this is just my opinion. You are free to submit the article again if you like. But I suspect that if you do, it will almost certainly be speedy-deleted again. I'm sorry, I can tell you have worked hard on this! --MelanieN (talk) 14:27, 26 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Melanie,

Thanks for you help. Now I understand what is wrong. I will come back to you later when my subjects will meet these criteria you highlighted.

Many Thanks :-)
