A rewrite has taken place on the article Simba (APC) due to concerns of copywrite problems. I'm sure any error was in good faith.--Hu12 16:27, 20 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hello. Concerning your contribution, Rafael M. Ileto, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from either web sites or printed material. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://www.dnd.gov.ph/DNDWEBPAGE_files/snds/ileto.html. As a copyright violation, Rafael M. Ileto appears to qualify for speedy deletion under the speedy deletion criteria. Rafael M. Ileto has been tagged for deletion, and may have been deleted by the time you see this message. For text material, please consider rewriting the content and citing the source, provided that it is credible.

If you believe that the article or image is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL) then you should do one of the following:

  • If you have permission from the author leave a message explaining the details at Talk:Rafael M. Ileto and send an email with the message to "permissions-en (at) wikimedia (dot) org". See Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for instructions.
  • If a note on the original website states that re-use is permitted under the GFDL or released into the public domain leave a note at Talk:Rafael M. Ileto with a link to where we can find that note.
  • If you own the copyright to the material: send an e-mail from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en(at)wikimedia(dot)org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the GFDL, and note that you have done so on Talk:Rafael M. Ileto.

However, for text content, you may want to consider rewriting the content in your own words. Thank you, and please feel free to continue contributing to Wikipedia. —Celithemis 09:41, 27 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry, but removing the speedy deletion tag is not going to help. Wikipedia cannot accept copyrighted content that has not been released under a free license; it would be illegal. Unless you can demonstrate that you have permission to release this text under the GFDL license, it will be deleted. —Celithemis 09:56, 27 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Crimsonh.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Crimsonh.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. After Midnight 0001 16:55, 22 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wikiproject:Terrorism

[edit]

Greetings,

I was hoping I could get some input from you, about the proposed mergerof WikiProject:Terrorism and counter-terrorism with Wikiproject:Terrorism. It seems there's a lot of overlap between the two projects, and if we spent a few days merging the lists of articles, sharing ideas and collaborating on improving the same articles which both projects are focused on improving...we could really make some headway. Whether you're in favour, or against, the idea of a merger - I'd appreciate some feedback regardless. Much thanks. Sherurcij (Speaker for the Dead) 21:25, 27 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unspecified source for Image:OutAM.JPG

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:OutAM.JPG. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 21:25, 18 December 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Mangostar (talk) 21:25, 18 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on PG 114 BRP Salvador Abcede, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because PG 114 BRP Salvador Abcede is unquestionably copyright infringement, and no assertion of permission has been made.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting PG 114 BRP Salvador Abcede, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Speedy deletion of Jose Andrada Class

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Jose Andrada Class requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must include on the external site the statement "I, (name), am the author of this article, (article name), and I release its content under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License, Version 1.2 and later." You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Hi Chewygum!
We thank you for uploading Image:AFPSAW.jpg, but there is a problem. Your image is currently missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. Unless you can help by adding a copyright tag, it may be deleted by an Administrator. If you know this information, then we urge you to add a copyright tag to the image description page. We apologize for this, but all images must confirm to policy on Wikipedia.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks so much for your cooperation.

[edit]

Although I appreciate your efforts in improving military related articles I have observed that you cut and paste info from gov't websites. It is true that works of the Philippine gov't are public domain but there is more than that. I suggest that you peruse Sec 176 of the Philippine Intellectual Property Code. I also suggest that you paraphrase the info that you get from the websites just to be safe.--Lenticel (talk) 01:29, 19 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Distinguished Service Star, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://www.afp.mil.ph/otaghomesite/dss.html. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Gold Cross, and it appears to be very similar to another wikipedia page: Distinguished Service Star. It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case.

Thanks for uploading Image:PSG1.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

This is an automated notice by FairuseBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. --FairuseBot (talk) 05:19, 1 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. We welcome and appreciate your contributions, such as Distinguished Service Star and Gold Cross, but we regretfully cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from either web sites or printed material. These articles appear to be copied from http://www.afp.mil.ph/otaghomesite/dss.html,http://www.afp.mil.ph/otaghomesite/gc.html, and http://www.afp.mil.ph/otaghomesite/dss.html and therefore a copyright violation. The copyrighted text has been deleted. If you would like to write a new version of these articles, please feel free to do so in your own words, utilizing text from non-free sources only in conformance with our non-free content criteria. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 02:06, 13 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

As I notice that you have had issues with copyright concerns for some time, I looked a bit into your history. I see that on the talk page of the now deleted article Rafael M. Ileto, you asserted on February 27, 2007 that "as long as the source is cited no copyright infringement has been made.... A public document is considered for public consumption as long as the source was cited." With respect to Distinguished Service Star, for instance, the government displays a copyright notice at its web home, here. This leads me to wonder if you are placing this text here because of a misunderstanding of Wikipedia's policies. According to Section 176 of The Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines (please be warned: that is a huge pdf), works by the government are free for non-commercial use, but prior approval must be obtained for commercial use. This is a limited license, and is not the same as fair use. Wikipedia is mirrored by sites all over the world, many of which may be commercial entities. You can see we have the same concern with material from the government of Algeria: as our copyright policy notes, here, "they are available for non-commercial use - which is considered unfree on Wikipedia." Everything that is contributed here, image or text, must be freely available for non-commercial or commercial reproduction and modification, unless it otherwise conforms to our non-free content guidelines. I hope this clarifies for you why you have continued having problems with copyright material. Many of the images referenced below can probably be used under those non-free content criteria, though I have asked assistance of an image administrator or editor in providing "fair use rationales" for them. With regards to text, only brief quotations can be used and only under certain circumstances. Otherwise, all material from Philippine government websites must be rewritten in your own language, as material here can be and is redistributed for profit. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 02:03, 13 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Image permission problem with Image:AFPSAW.jpg

[edit]
Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:AFPSAW.jpg I noticed that that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the image (or other media file) agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the GFDL or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the image to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the image has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the image's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Images lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Moonriddengirl (talk) 01:18, 13 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Possibly unfree Image:PA8ID.jpg

[edit]

An image that you uploaded or altered, Image:PA8ID.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Possibly unfree images because its copyright status is unclear or disputed. If the image's copyright status cannot be verified, it may be deleted. You may find more information on the image description page. You are welcome to add comments to its entry at the discussion if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. Moonriddengirl (talk) 01:33, 13 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I wanted to add that I have requested review of all of the images you have uploaded there. It seems that you are declaring yourself the copyright holder in all of these cases. If this is the case, it will have to be verified. Otherwise, while it may be possible that these images can be brought into compliance with non-free content guidelines, they cannot be released into public domain or even under GFDL. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 01:35, 13 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

An exciting opportunity to get involved!

[edit]

As a member of the Aviation WikiProject or one of its subprojects, you may be interested in testing your skills in the Aviation Contest! I created this contest, not to pit editor against editor, but to promote article improvement and project participation and camraderie. Hopefully you will agree with its usefulness. Sign up here, read up on the rules here, and discuss the contest here. The first round of the contest may not start until September 1st-unless a large number of editors signup and are ready to compete immediately! Since this contest is just beginning, please give feedback here, or let me know what you think on my talkpage. - Trevor MacInnis contribs 23:54, 21 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:15InfDiv(RR).JPG requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. --Rrburke(talk) 02:23, 3 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image File:NCRRCDG.jpg

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:NCRRCDG.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Unreferenced BLPs

[edit]

Hello Chewygum! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 316 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

Thank you for uploading File:DELTA_FORCE.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. Problems with upload of File:Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary Unit Seal.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary Unit Seal.jpg. You don't seem to have said where the image came from, who created it, or provided a license tag. We require this information to verify that the image is legally usable on Wikipedia, and because most image licenses require giving credit to the image's creator.

To add this information, select the appropriate license tag from this list, click on this link, then click the "Edit" tab at the top of the page and add the information to the image's description. If you can't find a suitable license tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. If you need help, post your question on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 03:05, 24 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. When you recently edited Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Bicol (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Hi there. I see that you are active in writing Philippine military articles. I have been working on filling in articles where there are red wikilinks under the Awards and decorations of the Armed Forces of the Philippines article. I have had okay luck at finding references for most of them but I have hit a dead end on one the Kapanalig ng Sandatahang Lakas ng Pilipinas. On the Military Commendation Medal I have been able to only find one source. Do you know of some sources available on the internet that can give me details on those awards? The Philippine Army redid their website and now all of the old links are dead ends. What would be truly helpful is the an online version of the Armed Forces of the Philippines Awards manual. Your input and assistance is appreciated. Cheers. EricSerge (talk) 13:07, 18 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Olongapo

[edit]

I found your name on the list of participants in the Military History WikiProject Maritime Warfare Task Force. I've been working on the history of the city of Olongapo from 1946 through the Vietnam War. I am especially interested in the period from the unprosecuted shooting of a Filipino by a Naval Supply Depot Sentry to the assassination of James Leonard T. Gordon.

  • I would like to find more details about the Naval Supply Depot shooting. I haven't even been able to determine the date, but it appears to have been in the mid-1950s.
  • I'm also interested in Richard Gordon's USMC grandfather and his family, including why the remainder of his family went to the United States while James Leonard T. Gordon remained in the Philippines.
  • I am also eager to learn more about the groups who vied with Gordon for control of Olongapo after the Navy turned the city over to the Philippines in 1959, including the two organizations who were identified as tattooed gangs and jailed during the early 1970s.
  • I am also interested in the United States Navy status of the former residents of Banicain after they were displaced to Olongapo by construction of the Cubi Point airfield. Was Olongapo housing initially owned by the Navy or by the Filipinos? Were rent and utility charges part of employment compensation? Were Banicain residents offered on-base employment as an incentive or condition of resettlement?

I would be grateful for any references you might be able to direct me to for more information about these people and events.Thewellman (talk) 17:23, 20 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed blackout in protest of RA 10175

[edit]

Dear Chewygum,

Greetings!

As a Filipino Wikipedian, I hope you are aware of the passage of Republic Act No. 10175, also known as the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012, which was signed into law by President Benigno Aquino III on September 12, 2012. Currently, there is a discussion on the Tambayan, the noticeboard for Philippines-related topics, about a proposed blackout of the English Wikipedia in the Philippines in order to protest the passage of RA 10175, similar to the blackout against SOPA and PIPA held earlier this year. I feel that your input on the subject will definitely help in the discussion.

Please feel free to participate in the discussion at Wikipedia talk:Tambayan Philippines#The Cybercrime Prevention Act, and I hope your input will help the Filipino Wikipedia community determine which is the best course of action against this law. Similarly, we hope to get as much input from as many Wikipedians as possible.

Thank you and maraming salamat po!

Kind regards,

Sky Harbor (talk) 13:47, 7 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited 1st Regional Community Defense Group, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Abra (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Proposed deletion of Ateneo de Manila University ROTC

[edit]

The article Ateneo de Manila University ROTC has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

I couldn't establish that this meets WP:ORG or WP:GNG

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
