TaxSlayer Article

Thanks for reviewing our article. We took your advice and made changes. Can you please take another look? Thanks! article= User:Rhodesfs/TaxSlayer.com Rhodesfs (talk) 01:38, 26 August 2010 (UTC)

I think you still need some names for those references, and you don't need a section title for your opening section, as it is automatically considered an opening/overview anyway. Also, be careful with the tone and style of the article, as you don't want it to just sound like an advertisement for the company (if it was, as soon as you move it into the main space it's likely to just get deleted for spam). Finally, consider adding an infobox and maybe more links to other articles on Wikipedia if you can. Please ask below if you have any further questions on this. Chevymontecarlo 12:19, 26 August 2010 (UTC)

When you say name, do you mean properly cite the reference? We did so with our Augusta Chronicle references. The other references are our own website "about us" sections, which we didn't "properly cite." Thanks Rhodesfs (talk) 12:59, 26 August 2010 (UTC)

No, I mean try and add some names to the references. You already have the references properly displayed, it's just that it helps the reader out a lot if they have some idea of what the web page is. You can do it like this:

Chevymontecarlo 15:53, 26 August 2010 (UTC)

Chevymontecarlo, I have looked at the tone and revised the article a few times prior and would like more clarification from you. Is there a specific sentence, paragraph or section that needs to be revised? I would like a little more direction as to what I am looking at or for to make this article's tone sound less like an advertisement. I really thought my previous edits would satisfy Wikipedia's requirement. Thanks for the help. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rhodesfs (talkcontribs) 18:49, 31 August 2010 (UTC)

Chevymontecarlo,

We have made changes to the reference points that you mentioned earlier. Look these over and let me know if they are acceptable for Wikipedia. Also, I would like more direction for the article's tone to make it sound less like an advertisement. I have made several changes based on your advise and at this point I would like to know if there is a sentence or paragraph that needs revision. I really felt my last revision was strong enough to reflect changes to articles tone.Rhodesfs (talk) 14:55, 7 September 2010 (UTC)

Hmm, well following your improvements I don't really think there are any issues with the language/tone of the article. I've made a few improvements to the references (you'd used the same reference twice, so I added an appropriate name etc). Chevymontecarlo 17:53, 7 September 2010 (UTC)
Following another user's suggestion, I think you need to try and add more third-party references in addition to the ones you have at the moment (it's mostly just the company's own site at the moment, so it'd be good if you had other sites that are not related to the company as references as well). Chevymontecarlo 17:57, 7 September 2010 (UTC)

Chevymontecarlo

Thank you for the prompt response. I have a question regarding your last point about adding more references. Is there an acceptable number of references or do you need to have enough to support your article? The reason I ask is becuase I have visited other wiki entries and the number of references sited are at varying numbers. You state my article needs more references because I have too many from company owned sites. But when I visited one live article in particular they had only 10 references in which 4 were directed to the company site. To date, I have 12 references in which 3 are directed to the company site and the other 2 are directed to the parent company. If you look at percentages, they have 40% of their links going to company owned sites and I have 42%. Do I have bad references or are the number of references based on editor's opinions? Please don't take my question as tattling but I am just trying to learn for future postings. One last question, I have more references but they are in regard to Nascar and they are just confirming what we already have referenced. Will this be acceptable? Rhodesfs (talk) 18:57, 7 September 2010 (UTC)

No, it's got some decent references. All Wikipedia articles need improvements; none of them are perfect, especially the newer ones. As long as your new references are related to the article's subject, it'll be fine. Chevymontecarlo 04:08, 8 September 2010 (UTC)

We tried submitting our article again. We are disappointed to receive this message: This suggestion doesn't sufficiently explain the importance or significance of the subject. See the speedy deletion criteria A7 and/or guidelines on web sites. Please provide more information on why the web site is worthy of inclusion in an encyclopedia. Thank you. Rhodesfs (talk) 14:17, 13 September 2010 (UTC)

Hmm, well basically it was declined because it wasn't notable or significant enough to have a Wikipedia article about it, I think. Chevymontecarlo 15:47, 13 September 2010 (UTC)

Thanks a lot - that's excellent feedback! I've done the infobox and split the article into sections, and it definitely does read better. Could I possibly ask for more specific advice about the tone of the article? I'd like to keep it neutral, as you suggest.

Many thanks! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Sweeney4547 (talkcontribs) 10:48, 14 September 2010 (UTC)

Okay, well, I think phrases like 'In strong demand' and 'amongst many others' should perhaps be looked at, although the issue is nowhere near as major as I first thought. The quotes have a sufficient reference to prove it which is great, and the info box is an excellent addition. One last suggestion would probably be to try and add some better names to the references; it's more useful to the reader if the links have some sort of descriptive name rather than just a 'bare' web address. You can do it like this:

I hope you understand this :) Well done with the article, it's great! Chevymontecarlo 14:09, 14 September 2010 (UTC)

Righto - I've done as you suggested, and it looks much better! Thanks for all your help. Sweeney4547 (talk) 13:27, 15 September 2010 (UTC)

Excellent :) Chevymontecarlo 14:55, 15 September 2010 (UTC)

Jennifer Luce

Thank you for your suggestions on the Jennifer Luce biography. I will certainly add in internal links to other wikipedia topics. I also plan to add photographs. The photographer who has images of Luce buildings has asked what size he should make the los-res files. If you have any insight on this, I'd appreciate it. (I did send the wikipedia images information to him so he can add the images to the wiki commons. Is there a next step once the additional references are included? Many thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Artswriterfw (talkcontribs) 13:56, 14 September 2010 (UTC)

 • As to the pictures, they can really be any size, as you can scale them down when you add them to the article.
 • Try and improve your references with some more descriptive names, like this:

I hope you understand this. There are really no 'steps' to creating an article; these are merely suggestions on how to improve your article. Chevymontecarlo 14:14, 14 September 2010 (UTC)

Ivan Guerrero article

Thank you for the feedback! I really appreciate it. I will revise the article accordingly.

By the way, how do I post it as an actual wikipedia article when I have finalized it? There is another existing article named "Ivan Guerrero", but is a different person. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Maribb (talkcontribs) 16:32, 21 September 2010 (UTC)

Well, when you do eventually move the article (you can use the 'Move' feature - click the 'Move' tab at the top of the page) you might want to call it something like Ivan Guerrero (filmmaker) instead, just to make it different from the other article, as no two Wikipedia articles can have the same name. Chevymontecarlo 19:04, 21 September 2010 (UTC)

Thanks

I did what you told me on my wikipedia page for Buket. Added more references, cleaned up the tone, added sections, deleted references to youtube, and changed reference style. Let me know what you think, thanks —Preceding unsigned comment added by Diatribe06 (talkcontribs) 03:22, 22 September 2010 (UTC)

Well done with the improvements. I've corrected the references and improved the external links by giving them some more names, but I think the article is about done. Excellent job! Chevymontecarlo 05:55, 22 September 2010 (UTC)

References/moving my article

Thank you for your information! Is it ok to list the references at the bottom without being specific in the text of the article? Possibly a silly question... Thanks for your help!Kristirae (talk) 15:53, 14 September 2010 (UTC)

Well, you could do that, but it's easier for the reader if they're actually in the article. That way they can click on the Inline citation and be taken directly to the link that's being used as a reference. I can help you with the references, if you wish. Chevymontecarlo 17:44, 14 September 2010 (UTC)
That would be wonderful! I can't tell you how much I appreciate your help with this.Kristirae (talk) 18:47, 14 September 2010 (UTC)
Okay! Chevymontecarlo 19:16, 14 September 2010 (UTC)
Hello! When you are done with my first article, would you be willing to take a look at two more that I have? Sorry to be a pest, but I really want to make sure I have done all that I am supposed to in order to make these acceptable. Thanks in advance!Kristirae (talk) 15:19, 15 September 2010 (UTC)
That's fine! A link to them here would be fine. Chevymontecarlo 16:14, 15 September 2010 (UTC)
Thank you for your help on the first.... Do you think it's acceptable to move at this time? I should have my others done my first thing , my time , in the morning. Thanks again for your most wonderful help! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kristirae (talkcontribs) 01:15, 17 September 2010 (UTC)
No problem. The first article does need some improvements though; most notably that you need more references. Chevymontecarlo 04:17, 17 September 2010 (UTC)
Hello! I added two more references, I hope they meet your standards. Are we ok to go now? I would have added some for the very first section, but apparently I can't edit that part? Please let me know what you think when you can. Again, I really appreciate it. Kristirae (talk) 13:45, 18 September 2010 (UTC)
Here is a link to my second article.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Kristirae/Dorcas_Medical_Mission Please advise, thanks!Kristirae (talk) 14:52, 18 September 2010 (UTC)
Hello! I was wondering if you had been able to look at the articles? I will send one more today if that is ok with you. Thanks you for all of your help.Kristirae (talk) 11:41, 22 September 2010 (UTC)

Hello again, sorry to be such a pest.... Here is the link to my last article. I would really appreciate your comments and suggestions on all three. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Kristirae/The_Babershop_Quartet . And please let me know what I need to do in order to make these worthy of moving forward. Thanks again in advance!Kristirae (talk) 13:53, 22 September 2010 (UTC)

It's an okay article, but you need to add more reliable, third-party references to the article. Also, be careful with the tone and language style - Wikipedia articles are supposed to sound neutral and not like advertisements. Finally, try and add some links. Chevymontecarlo 15:13, 22 September 2010 (UTC)
Ok, thanks for the feedback. I will revisit and try to make sure that I am more neutral. And get more refs as well. BTW, were you speaking of the first or second article? I know I have put alot onto your plate....Thanks again!Kristirae (talk) 13:38, 23 September 2010 (UTC)
I was talking about your quartet article, and please, you don't need to apologise for anything. You need help, so I will do my best to assist :) Chevymontecarlo 16:02, 23 September 2010 (UTC)
:) You are so very nice! Ok, so I will work on the tone of the Quartet article and add more links. It it ok for a link to also be a reference? What do you think about the other two articles? close to moving or do they need more work? Thanks!Kristirae (talk) 19:48, 23 September 2010 (UTC)
There are two types of references - internal and external. Internal links are links to other articles and content on Wikipedia itself, whilst external links are links to websites elsewhere on the internal. As per the reference rules/guidelines at WP:CITE, other Wikipedia articles can't be used as a reference. Chevymontecarlo 03:17, 24 September 2010 (UTC)
Stupid question 403... Why can't I edit the top portion? Also, I just noticed I misspelled the title... Sheesh! Kristirae (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 03:10, 24 September 2010 (UTC).
It's probably due to an edit conflict - you and someone (or something - it could be an automatic bot) saved your page at the same time, which doesn't do anything. I've moved your article to the correct spelling. In future, if you have any more questions, can you please make a new section? Thanks. Chevymontecarlo 03:17, 24 September 2010 (UTC)

Feedback - large increase in requests

The graph says it all, really; massive increase since we cleared the backlog and introduced a bit better system. As I've said before, it is a 'victim of its own success', I think. Currently, it is pretty backlogged.

Quite a few get missed, as you can see if you flick through the archives - but I don't know what we can do about that, really, other than hope more people give feedback.

The long-term solution would be to keep these editors; so many come to just create one article, and are never heard of again; if just a few of those stayed, and started giving feedback, then we'd have a more workable system.

I suggest discussion in this WT:FEED section. Cheers!

(I've send this message out to a small number of people that I think/hope will be interested; people who have given feedback, etc. if wrong, apologies, let me know.)

 Chzz  ►  00:05, 26 September 2010 (UTC)

Interesting stuff. I still answer requests on the page from time to time, although as you say it's kinda become a victim of it's own success sadly. Chevymontecarlo 09:23, 26 September 2010 (UTC)

thanks - from csmr209

I've read the editing section you suggested and rephrased several sections of the article (Maryanne Lewis, politian). I also deleted a section that I thought might have been problematic. I'm a bit new at all this. Have I done enough? thanks again! Csmr209 (talk) 19:12, 27 September 2010 (UTC)

I like the improvements, but you need some more descriptive names for the references. This gives the reader a better idea of what a link is about, rather than just a bare URL. Here is an example:
This is a sentence in the article.

Thanks for advice on Better Things

Hi there,

thanks for your reply to my query regarding Better Things (2008 film)...I'm hoping you can help me with another query relating to that page (this is my first ever posting to Wikipedia so it's all new!). I wanted the page title to be simply Better Things, as this is the title of the film the article refers to. I then noticed there is already an article titled 'Better Things', a song by The Kinks. So i added '(2008 film) myself, as i'd noticed a couple of other articles had this suffix as a means of differentiating from other articles with the same or similar titles. But now i realise that when you search Wikipedia for 'Better Things' you're only directed straight to the article about the song; i was hoping you'd be taken to a list where you could choose either to go to the song article or this article relating to the film. How should i go about making this happen? Is it as simple as removing '(2008 film)' from my article title? Hopefully you can point me in the right direction! Thanks in advance.Northandy (talk) 19:31, 27 September 2010 (UTC)

No, you need to keep that '(2008 film)' part to distinguish it from the song. If people are searching for something like that, they'll come across the article anyway. Usually we use things like Disambiguation pages for articles with similar names, so you could create one of those, perhaps at Better things (disambiguation). Please ask if you need help with that, although it is very simple to do. Below is an example.
There are multiple articles with 'Better Things' as the title on this Wiki.

*Better Things, a song by The Kinks
*Better Things (2008 film), a film

I hope you understand. Chevymontecarlo 03:44, 28 September 2010 (UTC)

Thanks again, i've had a go at making this disambiguation page. i'm not sure if it's live yet though, and it's still the case that if i type 'Better Things' into the Wikipedia search, it takes me straight to the article relating to the Kinks songs of that name. Is there a way to make it so a search for 'Better Things' takes you straight to the disambiguation page? thanks for your advice and patience. Northandy (talk) 15:44, 28 September 2010 (UTC)

Pivotal Payments article

Thanks Chevymontecarlo for your feedback.
I re-wrote texts and deleted some others to avoid redundancy and advertisement style Added links to Wikipedia pages instead to external ones when possible.
if you have any other suggestion they will be very welcome
Socialpiv (talk) 21:56, 27 September 2010 (UTC)

Try and add some more useful names to the references, like this:
This is a sentence.

Reference names help give the reader a better idea of what the link is about. Chevymontecarlo 03:50, 28 September 2010 (UTC)

Thanks a lot Chevymontecarlo, I'll work on that. DGG is also giving to me very helpful hints to improve the article

No problem. I'm glad to help you! Chevymontecarlo 14:58, 29 September 2010 (UTC)

hi Chevymontecarlo - i made those changes you suggested, thanks for the fast reply. also moved things around to make it flow better. if you could have another look at it that would be much appreciated. (sorry if you're getting this twice, i'm not sure how the other request for feedback page works) Zoltancsaki (talk) 17:27, 28 September 2010 (UTC)

Excellent work! The only thing I can really find to maybe improve is to try and add some categories to the article. Categories list articles with similar articles, so overall it can help articles to get more views from readers. However, you don't really need to add categories yourself if you don't want to, because someone else is likely to add the categories for you once you move it out of your userspace. I hope you understand. Chevymontecarlo 18:01, 28 September 2010 (UTC)
Cool, thanks. I think i'll wait for someone with a bit more experience than me add the categories. how do i move it out of my user space though? is that a difficult process? Zoltancsaki (talk) 18:55, 28 September 2010 (UTC)
No, you can use the 'Move' feature. Click the 'Move' tab at the top of the article, choose the location that you want the article to go to (i.e. what name you want the new article to have) and you're done! Chevymontecarlo 19:40, 28 September 2010 (UTC)
OK, and thanks for all your help. I'll do that now. Zoltancsaki (talk) 20:30, 28 September 2010 (UTC)
I've just pushed it live :) would you be able to review it when you get a chance? Maybe add a few categories even? cheers Zoltancsaki (talk) 20:35, 28 September 2010 (UTC)
I'll try and look for some categories to add, if not, it's perfectly fine to leave the article with no categories. Often they get added by other users. Chevymontecarlo 05:42, 29 September 2010 (UTC)
ok cool. i noticed you added one anyway. thanks again for all your help. have a nice day Zoltancsaki (talk) 10:56, 29 September 2010 (UTC)

Initial Training Actions

I'm still lost. I'm used to posts, I'm used to emails, I'm not used to having to edit Q&A with indents... Anyway, I still see no way for me to modifiy the title of an article and this is pretty discombobulating, as my one and only contributions to WP (for now) should be called "Initial Training Networks". Also, I see no move button anywhere on my edit page. So, still lost. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Robinouze (talkcontribs) 08:58, 4 October 2010 (UTC)

AFC

Hiya,

Remembering you don't mind tidying up fixable AFCs, I wonder if you could deal with Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/ Dr.P.V.Ramesh perhaps? It has some parts that are too CV-like, the bullets need to go, the externals need trimming, but it's probably passable.

Thanks, in antic.

I'm trying really hard to keep the AFC backlog down to reasobale size; several times in the last few days I've personally dealt with loads of them, and got it down to more-or-less-zero, but to save it creeping back up, I will need help. So if you get a chance to look at a few more CAT:AFC that'd be great too.

Hi,

Why did you move the article in response to the request for feedback at Wikipedia:Requests for feedback/2010 September 29#User:Robinouze/Enter_your_new_article_name_here? It seems unhelpful to move an article to main space when it has no references.

 1. It could give people the wrong idea about what is expected from a Wikipedia article.
 2. It could end up being proposed for deletion due to lack of notability, which will put off the new editor. It makes more sense to let new editors find sources in their own time, with out being hurried by the threat of deletion.

Yaris678 (talk) 15:16, 1 October 2010 (UTC)

Sorry :( I think I'll be staying away from WP:AFC in the future. I'm not the best at dealing with those articles. Chevymontecarlo 20:14, 1 October 2010 (UTC)
Hey. No worries. I hope this hasn't put you off from helping out at WP:RFF. Yaris678 (talk) 12:37, 4 October 2010 (UTC)
Yo, as time goes by, I'm finding my way through the maze. I had no clue moving my article to mainspace could result in Chevy getting that comment. Life is tough on this side of WP, it seems. But I get the gist of it now. I'll try and put correct references to my article so we can all move on. Thank you very much to everyone, sincerely.Robinouze (talk) 13:13, 4 October 2010 (UTC)
Done. Tell me if everything's okay now, please. My article is Initial Training Actions. (It should still be called "Initial Training Networks", but hey, Rome wasn't built in a day.)Robinouze (talk) 13:25, 4 October 2010 (UTC)
Robinouze - I've moved the article for you, just to save confusion. Sorry about that - it's at Initial Training Networks now. Chevymontecarlo 17:14, 4 October 2010 (UTC)
Chevy, I feel tears coming, because I think this article looks legit, now. Thanks a lot, I'll go create new ones.Robinouze (talk) 06:18, 5 October 2010 (UTC)
It looks very nice. But you still need to show WP:Notability. I don't think any of the sources you use are independent. The European commision is the funder after all. This being the case, someone may come and propose deletion. I am sure there are some independent sources out there. It seems notable to me. Does this page really say the ITN has a budget of nearly €320M? That might be worth a mention! But you still need to find independent sources. Has it been mentioned in newspapers? Or perhaps independent publications that are aimed at researchers. Yaris678 (talk) 16:08, 5 October 2010 (UTC)
Thanks. I'll try and find a couple of independant sources. And yes, it's a lot of money. Roughly one billion per year for all Marie Curie Actions. But I'm not here to talk about that, I just want potential fellows to know that UE's there to fund them. Then again, money easily catches attention... I'll see. Thanks for the tips. Robinouze (talk) 06:19, 6 October 2010 (UTC)

Ready to go?

Hi! Would you please take another look at this article? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Kristirae/The_Kimelman_Cancer_Institute I think I am ready to go, but once again, would like your help and support... Thanks in advance!Kristirae (talk) 18:51, 3 October 2010 (UTC)

It's definitely improving, but try and add some names to the references. The names give the reader a better idea of what the link for the reference is, rather than just a bare URL. Also, try and add some links to the article, as it's definitely lacking. Finally, be careful with the article's tone and language style, as it's quite easy to make articles like this sound like advertisements. Chevymontecarlo 05:49, 4 October 2010 (UTC)
I don't think the article is quite ready to go just yet, but with these improvements I think you're almost there. Chevymontecarlo 05:50, 4 October 2010 (UTC)
Thank you for the feedback. I am a bit uncertain as to what you mean with adding names to the links, but I edited the top portion as to what I think you mean... Could you please take a quick look? Also, if there is a particular portion that you think sounds like an advertisement, please let me know. I have been over it so many times now, I am a bit snow blind perhaps. Thanks!Kristirae (talk) 23:29, 5 October 2010 (UTC)
You can add links to other Wikipedia articles by placing around the word you want to link to, like this:
Apple

which creates a link to the Apple article. I hope you understand. As to the advertising tone, I think it's okay now. Well done so far! Chevymontecarlo 05:03, 6 October 2010 (UTC)

I think we have it! Well, I hope we do... Please take a look and let me know what you think. Thanks in advance! Kristirae (talk) 11:09, 6 October 2010 (UTC)

:) Woohoo! Are we ready to move it? Kristirae (talk) 18:04, 6 October 2010 (UTC)
I think so, just about. You can use the 'Move' function - click the 'Move' tab at the top of the article. If you're having trouble, I'll be happy to do it for you if you want. Chevymontecarlo 19:44, 6 October 2010 (UTC)
I may cry... Thanks so much for all of your help... I have two more that I would like you to take a look at if dont mind. Review of my article

Hi Chevymontecarlo,

Thanks for looking at my post. I'm not really sure how to use this discussion. I'm confused about where to put the string of comments. In any case, my new article is for Home Energy Saver and is posted in my user space: User:DianeChojnowski http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:DianeChojnowski

I really appreciate you reviewing this for me. I included several links to third party sources. Home Energy Saver itself is a .gov web based tool.

Thanks, Diane —Preceding unsigned comment added by DianeChojnowski (talkcontribs) 18:44, 30 September 2010 (UTC)

Usually you can request that some suggestions for improvement are made to your article at WP:FEED. You place your request, and people reply underneath with suggestions. If you make a request at WP:FEED you need to check back to that page if any replies have been made, because that's where people will reply. As to the article, it sounds too much like an advertisement in places - see WP:POV. Wikipedia articles are supposed to be neutral in tone and not sound like advertisements. Chevymontecarlo 19:08, 30 September 2010 (UTC)

OK, thanks so much, I'll revise and hope you will take another look at it. DianeChojnowski (talk) 19:23, 30 September 2010 (UTC)

Send me another message here when you want more comments :) Chevymontecarlo 17:15, 4 October 2010 (UTC)

Hi, it looks like another editor moved the article to Wikipedia. Do you think this is a good move? Are we ready? DianeChojnowski (talk) 13:14, 5 October 2010 (UTC)

If another editor moved it for you then they must think it's ready. Personally, I think it's no worse than any other new article that's recently been moved. Chevymontecarlo 17:23, 5 October 2010 (UTC)

Hi Chevy, I'm wondering if we can add a screenshot of the homepage of Home Energy Saver to the article. It IS a website/interactive internet tool. What do you think? You can see the site at: http://hes.lbl.gov Also, I don't know how to add images. Can you help me with that? Thanks DianeChojnowski (talk) 17:29, 5 October 2010 (UTC)

I don't see any problem with adding a screenshot, but as to actually adding images so they can be added to an article, I'm really not sure. I'm sorry. You're probably better off asking at the help desk, or at our help channel. Chevymontecarlo 17:45, 5 October 2010 (UTC)

OK, good advice. I'll ask there. DianeChojnowski (talk) 21:53, 7 October 2010 (UTC)

Happy 10/10/10

Double Ten Day is, really, unrelated—but we don't appear to have a cool pic for this one

I suppose I should've timed this message at 10:10:10 too, but frankly, I can't be arsed. You know how it is.

Did you know... that tenten in Japaense writing are a little wiggly thing, a bit like a quotation-mark, which makes e.g. "ka" (か) into "ga" (が) or "fu" (ふ) into "bu" (ぶ) ?

So, take time out to have a bit of a giggle.

All the best, and 10-10 'till we do it again.  Chzz  ►  08:49, 10 October 2010 (UTC)

I always love these little messages ;) Keep them coming! Is there going to be a Christmas one? :P Chevymontecarlo 19:10, 12 October 2010 (UTC)

I just came across an article and I would like you to have a look, if you will. Subject is 26 years old, politician and his so called notoriety gives him a place in the Wikipedia. I made some research on Google and couldn't connect him to anywhere. To me, it looks like, a brilliantly-stitched notoriety, just to be in the Wikipedia. It says this: "He currently works at the Istanbul Policy Center as a Project Administrative Officer. He serves as the Assistant to Mr.Joost Lagendijk." There is no connection there neither. Nothing ties him to Istanbul Policy Center and to Joost Lagendijk. It further says: "Can Balcıoğlu also works with world famous photographer Koray Birand to find new modeling talents." What a notable-young man and politician, helping to find new modeling talents! And again; no connection on the Google. And again, to me, it's a bogus notoriety. Dead-end facts. No verifiable references. All seem like a student's activities. What would you make of it? Cheers. Fusion is the future (talk) 11:47, 10 October 2010 (UTC)

Hello, I've been quite busy in real life recently so I haven't had much time for Internet stuff, hence the late reply. So this is an article you've come across? It's still quite a new article, from the looks of the history. You might want to just message the creator if you're concerned - just give them a few suggestions perhaps. Personally, I think it's quite badly written with no references either, but that's just my opinion. Chevymontecarlo 14:43, 12 October 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for replying. Yes, I did come across this article just by coincidence. Creator does not have a user page, nor has he a talk page. His user name is Blacklioncan. "Can" is the first name of the article Can Balcioglu. It appears to be that he just created this account to create this article. As I said, I made quite a bit research on the Google and nothing came up. Zero. He is not connected to anywhere he says he is. To me it's a bogus one and his notoriety is greatly in question too. What do you think? Thanks. Fusion is the future (talk) 15:04, 12 October 2010 (UTC)

Personally I think the article either requires a lot of improvement (which would be hard because of the lack of references or other mentions elsewhere on the web, like you have already found) or it can be marked for deletion, if you wish. You might want to take a look at the deletion policy if you're concerned enough to take action; it gives some alternatives to just simply marking the article for deletion. Hope this helps. Chevymontecarlo 19:00, 12 October 2010 (UTC)

I feel like I'm in a corn maze at the moment. I wanted to reply to your comments about my NerdGirls page and I have no idea if I replied in a place that you will ever see :) I replied to your reply on my Request for Feedback page and I thought my note might show up here on your talk page as well, but I'm not convinced, so I am going to paste it here. So sorry for the redundancy, if that's what happened.... Here's what I had to say.... RE Nerd Girl -- Thanks for your input :) I was trying to work on some of your suggestions and may have taken a step backwards. After my revisions, I posted another request for feedback (I didn't think of coming here for some reason) and Chzz's comments got me even more confused and flustered, especially in regards to secondary and primary sources. Chzz hasn't been able to respond to my questions (of course maybe I put those in the wrong place and he hasn't seen them) so I was hoping you could help me. I do want to try to make this article work. In this particular case, I am wondering what makes my sources (outside of Nerdgirls.com, of course) seem primary? Thank you for your help. If you need more information please let me know -- my assumption is that you have access to everything from here but I might be wrong. Ktraino1 (talk) 21:08, 10 October 2010 (UTC)

The feedback page and my talk page are entirely separate, so anything that's posted there won't show up here, unless you want to send me a talkback note just to say you replied. I think the best way to getting your question answered is to create a new request at WP:FEED, as usually once they're answered by somebody requests that have already been made are often just skipped and forgotten sadly. Chzz is often busy with many things around here so it could be that he just missed your reply or something like that, but I think the best way to get your questions answered is just by making a new WP:FEED request or by asking at the Wikipedia help desk. Wikipedia is quite confusing sometimes (I didn't understand things very well either when I first started) but I hope this helps...sorry for the late reply, I've been a bit busy in real life! Thanks :-) Chevymontecarlo 14:49, 12 October 2010 (UTC)

The Jumbee

I am so impressed by everyone's willingness to help all us 'newbies'. Chevymontecarlo, you left me a message that you'd given me feedback on my article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Pamelakeyes/The_Jumbee, but when I click on the link provided, I can't seem to find any feedback -- I'm sorry. I'm sure it's because I don't know what I'm doing. I love Wikipedia, but I'm totally overwhelmed by the html. Can you please let me know what I still need to do for this article to go live? Thanks once again -- and in advance.... Pamela Keyes (talk) 04:40, 13 October 2010 (UTC)

I think it's my fault - sorry. However, you did make a request yesterday and someone else replied - I can't seem to find my feedback anywhere sadly, so I'll provide a few suggestions/feedback here if that's okay. Like the other user who reviewed your article, you have a huge conflict of interest because you wrote the book. However, the article is nicely written and I think it's about ready to be moved, although I don't know whether the conflict of interest is something someone else needs to work on. Chevymontecarlo 05:57, 13 October 2010 (UTC)

If you happen to have a little time, could you possibly look at adding Wikilinks to either of these two articles which were recently accepted through AFC? Philadelphia School of Circus Arts and Father Peter Whelan. (The last is pretty huge; I fixed up all the inline references, hopefully correctly). I'm hoping to submit both to DYK, but of course they need at least some links.

Cheers,  Chzz  ►  06:44, 11 October 2010 (UTC)

Hopefully I'll be able to give it a go by the end of the week, if not at the weekend, as I've been quite busy in real life. I'll add it to my to-do list for around here ;) Thanks. Chevymontecarlo 14:52, 12 October 2010 (UTC)
I've made a few improvements to both articles. Chevymontecarlo 19:08, 12 October 2010 (UTC)
Thanks. Not quite sure why you put the refimprove tag on Whelan though - I thought it was pretty well-referenced; which bits do you think need more? Only...it can't be accepted as DYK unless all the issues have been resolved, and the clock is ticking, so please let me know (or better still, fix it! even if that means removing stuff). Cheers,  Chzz  ►  06:22, 13 October 2010 (UTC)
Well, I thought it could do with more web-based references, I'm just not sure whether refimprove is the right tag. It's not really that much of an issue really. Chevymontecarlo 07:03, 13 October 2010 (UTC)

Ah, I know what you mean; of course, it is much easier for us when references are online. But if they're not, they're not; nothing we can do about it, unfortunately.

Changing subject...I hesitate to ask about one more, but then again, if I don't ask I don't get. Another article needing repairs for DYK is George Spiro Thanos. (I actually have lots and lots on my list...and I won't even bother you with Educology which I imagine will make my brain melt...) So anyway - if you get a chance to poke at Mr. Thanos, during next several days, that'd be great. I'll do it myself, otherwise...I'm just trying v hard to keep CAT:AFC down to size. (as well as FEED, and about 9000 other things...) Cheers!  Chzz  ►  07:10, 13 October 2010 (UTC)

I'll give them a go - I'll at least give the bio some attention, because I like those :P You are a very hard-working Wikipedian as well ;-) Chevymontecarlo 15:03, 13 October 2010 (UTC)

The ones I have accepted but need fixing for DYK, at the moment, are as follows.

Note the top one needs fixing up within the day - that is, including removing the tag you added - otherwise, it can't be a DYK...

There are, of course, lots more needing attention in CAT:CSD.  Chzz  ►  03:02, 14 October 2010 (UTC)

Struck one, because I submitted it. Two more since that message though,

 Chzz  ►  08:34, 15 October 2010 (UTC)

Two more struck, because I have now listed them.  Chzz  ►  10:37, 15 October 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for the suggestions. I've made some, albeit minor, improvements. Chevymontecarlo 14:24, 15 October 2010 (UTC)

That didn't sound like you

I didn't follow why you said Sorry, we only reply to requests or questions here. here

While I agree with your answer, surely we don't insist that editors include a question mark. And "Please let me know what you think " sure sounds like a request. I'm scratching my head because you are one of the most prolific responders at WP:FEED and one of the most polite (I know I bite my tongue a lot). It came across as a bit WP:BITEY.--SPhilbrickT 14:34, 15 October 2010 (UTC)

Oh sorry, I said that because they originally provided an email address which I assumed they wanted their replies/comments sent to. I thought that we can only reply on Wikipedia itself, rather than by email, so that's why I said that. Chevymontecarlo 14:36, 15 October 2010 (UTC)
Ah, that makes it a lot clearer. I KNEW that Chevymontecarlo wouldn't be saying what it appeared you meant. No problem, although you might consider rewording it, so they don't read it the way I did.--SPhilbrickT 15:04, 15 October 2010 (UTC)
Okay, I'll reword it now. Sorry for the confusion. Chevymontecarlo 15:40, 15 October 2010 (UTC)

How's your Online Ambassador experience going so far?

Hi Chevymontecarlo/Archive 2,

We're starting to get into the busy part of the semester for Online Ambassadors, and we want to check in and see how you're doing, what your opinions about where we are now, and any feedback you may have.

Please answer these questions either on my talk page or send them to me by email.

1. How many mentees are you currently working with?

2. Have you reached out to students who don't have mentors yet? If not, would you be willing to?

3. What do you think of the content of messages on the Google Group?

4. What do you think of the volume of messages on the Google Group?

5. Do you participate on the Google Group much? If not, what would make you participate more?

6. Are there any problems you've experienced so far?

7. Is there anything else Sage or the rest of the Public Policy Initiative team could do to make your experience as an Online Ambassador better?

8. Are you okay sharing your username with your answers to our Public Policy Initiative team, or would you prefer to remain anonymous?

Thanks for your feedback! --Ldavis (Public Policy) (talk) 19:23, 22 October 2010 (UTC)

I've sent an Email. Chevymontecarlo 07:27, 23 October 2010 (UTC)

Thank you for reviewing CPSMS!!

Hello Chevy!! I'm new here so it took me a while to figure how to reach you. Many thanks for your review-I really appreciate you taking the time to do so. I thought it was important to mention 'Why CPSMS' is required since readers should be able to appreciate something that is new and what caused its genesis. Also, since it is a public/government initiative and there is no competition, I thought mentioning it would not exactly tantamount to advertising it for any person's gain. You think I can do something to make it more neutral, if it still does not appear to be so? Many thanks again.

59.98.152.82 (talk) 13:23, 23 October 2010 (UTC)

You have to remember that these are just suggestions for improvement. You don't have to do anything if you don't want to. If you feel that there's nothing wrong there, then that's fine. Chevymontecarlo 05:44, 24 October 2010 (UTC)

Feedback on my article

Hi Chevy, Thanks for your feedback on my article.

The article I wrote is NOT an article about myself (I live in Argentina) but rather about a distant relative who lives in the USA, who is rather famous in Latin America for his work on the region. The article also has numerous citations that are verifiable, but I am willing to add more, so that it doesn't qualify to be deleted and deserves to be reviewed on its merits.

Article: Rima_Das

Dear Chevymontecarlo, Thank you for your help, please review my amendments. Is this sufficient information for "notability" or is more required? The page will be enhanced and further improved in 2011 when Rima Das's TV Series and Music Video releases will be launched. Is this sufficient to maintain a page for the time being? Please inform of any 'non neutral' appearing words that stand out. Thank you once again. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rima das 25 (talkcontribs) 16:11, 25 October 2010 (UTC)

I think phrases like 'A local childhood beauty queen', and the list of languages that are spoken don't really need to be there. I think perhaps the article is okay to just be left alone, but I do think you need to add more references as well. Chevymontecarlo 14:26, 26 October 2010 (UTC)

[Apostol Trpeski article] Feedback response

Thanks for your response. But I looked at some similar active articles such as:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mil%C4%8Do_Man%C4%8Devski

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stole_Popov

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Labina_Mitevska

which don't include references at all. How do you make a reference if most of the online publish content about that person is in the local language?

Pigulina (talk) 19:32, 25 October 2010 (UTC)

There are many articles on Wikipedia. Most of them have problems, and we welcome improvements from users. Your article certainly needs some references, regardless of whether other articles have any references. They're hugely important. Chevymontecarlo 14:30, 26 October 2010 (UTC)

Thanks and further feedback on INFRONT SPORTS & MEDIA NEW PAGE

Hello!

Apologies in advance if I get this wrong but I'd like to thank you for your feedback on my article at: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User:Clnatinfront/INFRONT_SPORTS_%26_MEDIA&oldid=393226515

I have removed the Wiki links and inserted sections as advised. I would very much appreciate any further relevant feedback to avoid the article being deleated as I would now like to publish.

Really hope I'm writting this in the right place! Clnatinfront (talk) 15:42, 27 October 2010 (UTC)

Yes, this is the right place to ask :) This is my talk page. As to the article, one suggestion I have is that you should maybe add some names to the references. It gives the reader a better idea of what the link currently being used as a reference is about, rather than just being faced with a bare URL. Here is an example which should help:

I hope you understand. I've made a few changes to the article myself because I felt it was easier to do it myself than try and explain it (I hope you don't mind!). Chevymontecarlo 14:08, 28 October 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for reviewing my article User:Paulworks/John Gross (musician)

I appreciate the comments. I did do a lot of searching online (it is a lot easier than hunting through the library shelves :-) however I found very little I could use. I did include some links in the article to wikipedia pages where he is mentioned. Including the one that got me started on this multiphonics which refers to him but has an incorrect link to a British literary critic (which i will fix when I have this page moved). Based on your positive comments I will now request a move. I have a couple of questions about the move. Since this was my first article, I edited a lot as I became more familiar with the wiki guides. Will these early drafts in my user space transfer when the page is moved or will it start clean? Also will whoever moves it know it has been read and commented on by you? Thanks again for the time you put into this site. Paulworks (talk) 20:39, 28 October 2010 (UTC)

I can move the article for you if you want; and yes, when an article is moved properly all the editing history and things like that go along with it, if that's what you mean. Shall I move the article for you? Chevymontecarlo 14:19, 29 October 2010 (UTC)

Thanks that would be great if you could move it. Will have to remember about the edits moving from userspace for my next article and not use the first draft as a brain dump. Cheers Paulworks (talk) 18:06, 29 October 2010 (UTC)

I'm not sure about whether it's alright or not but I've moved it to here, if that's okay. Chevymontecarlo 20:40, 29 October 2010 (UTC)

Thanks. I am not sure what happened after you moved it. It now has two tags. One saying it is in the wrong place and to move it rather than delete it and the other saying it hasn't been reviewed and suggesting I request feedback, which I thought I had already done. Any ideas on how to fix that? cheers Paulworks (talk) 22:55, 29 October 2010 (UTC)

Okay, since you posted this message, another user has come along and decided for themselves that the article is ready for the main space, and so has removed the tags. I was going to remove the unreviewed tag anyway, since I had already provided comments. Not sure what the other tag was about though; anywho, it's all been sorted! :) Chevymontecarlo 19:25, 30 October 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for checking. I thought you had done it until I looked at the edits. I didn't expect it to draw interest so soon. I appreciate your help and I now look forward to my next project. I saw a page listing projects in the Jazz area that needed more work or writing so I may find some inspiration there. Paulworks (talk) 20:07, 30 October 2010 (UTC)

Good luck! By the way, you might want to take a look at WP:Requested articles if you're looking for subjects to write any new articles on. Chevymontecarlo 06:43, 31 October 2010 (UTC)

students to mentor

Per recent discussions on the Ambassadors list, we're going to try out assigning mentors to some of the students that don't have one, beginning with Media, Politics & Power in the Digital Age. Would you be willing to mentor User:Unreasonabledude and User:Granitesprite?

If so, please introduce yourself to each of them, perhaps along these lines:

"Hi! I'm Chevymontecarlo, and I've been assigned as your mentor. (If you'd rather choose your own mentor or don't want one, just let me know; you can request a different mentor from this list of Online Ambassadors.)

I'll keep an eye on your edits as you work on Wikipedia for your class, and try to pitch in where I can. If you'd like any help or advice, please let me know."

After that, don't forget to update Wikipedia:Online Ambassadors/Mentors to list your mentees, and if you've reached your limit, move your entry down to the "additional ambassadors" section.--Sage Ross - Online Facilitator, Wikimedia Foundation (talk) 18:57, 1 November 2010 (UTC)

Thanks! I'll contact them now. Chevymontecarlo 15:16, 2 November 2010 (UTC)
Are you up for a few more? The Political Economy of Technology and Science is looking for mentors on a per-article basis (with usually two students per article, but one mentor). If you've not reached your limit, please sign up as the mentor for Micro hydro on the course page, and leave notes introducing yourself for the two students working on it (and update the mentors page). Thanks!--Sage Ross - Online Facilitator, Wikimedia Foundation (talk) 17:24, 3 November 2010 (UTC)
I'll consider it, although I'm not sure I'm going to be able to help that much. Chevymontecarlo 17:28, 3 November 2010 (UTC)
That's cool. I'll ask someone else. Cheers! --Sage Ross - Online Facilitator, Wikimedia Foundation (talk) 17:40, 3 November 2010 (UTC)

Thank you for your review. Will you kindly have a second look at the article now, after my editing it?

Thank you very much for taking the time and reviewing my article on Andrey Korsakov (linguist and language philosopher) and your advice. Could you please have a second look at the improved variant after my editing it? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Korsakov_Andrey Thank you in advance. Hi, thanks for contacting me. I think you've done a nice job with these improvements, so I've put it up as an open article again. Someone should come along and take a look for you soon, usually within a couple of days. Chevymontecarlo 19:10, 2 November 2010 (UTC)

Infront Sports and Media - Thanks for Feedback

Really appreciate the input, edits, advice and feedback. I have stared to reference my references as you suggested and will continue to add to this over the near future.

I'm going to go for it now and publish!

I see this page as organic and one that I'd like to add to as I can with images and further information and links. Perhaps you wouldn't mind as I add to it if I came back to you for further feedback and or suggestions?

For now though, many thanks once again.

Oh dear! Just adding to this comment as I've got a Title Blacklist and need to move the page. Can you help?

Clnatinfront (talk) 12:06, 3 November 2010 (UTC)

I'm not sure what you mean by 'title blacklist'. I think it's better off you ask elsewhere about the page moving, perhaps, if you don't mind. You can use the help desk. Have you got a link to the article? I can't seem to find it. Chevymontecarlo 15:55, 3 November 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for the review of the page List of Birds of Kerala

Hello Chevy, Thanks for your feedback on the page I created on Birds of Kerala...your comments are a great confidence booster. thanks (Paintedstork (talk) 05:04, 5 November 2010 (UTC))

Glad I was of help! Chevymontecarlo 06:44, 5 November 2010 (UTC)

Hi Chevy,

Thank you for the fast reply, after thinking about your ideas, I do agree the title should be shortened to Tom O'Toole. As I read it it would take administration powers to change the title, is this true, would I have the option of changing the title in a different way, do you have administration powers?

I will change the external links as you have suggested, and tone down the article into a more neutral reflection to meet Wikipedia's standards.

I believe during my editing to make it a more neutral in tone article it will accomplish a shortening of the article at the same time as you suggested.

Please allow me a couple of days over this weekend to perform the editing as you suggest. After that should I contact you on your talk page or inside of the request for feedback page? Or would you add further suggestions to my talk page?

Again, thank you for your input and I will strive to put your suggestions into the article. --ESM 19:56, 5 November 2010 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by ESMcL (talkcontribs)

You can contact me here again rather than on WP:FEED; as I'm more likely to see it here. As to moving the article, I'm not an administrator but I can still move articles. Shall I move the article for you? Chevymontecarlo 06:53, 6 November 2010 (UTC)

Thanks Chevy, I have read up further on the moving process. I understand it now as simply using the Move dropdown and then re-naming the article again with the shorter name and the associated files will follow with it. Am I thinking right? I will try it as it also mentioned that the file could be moved back if needed. I have made several of the changes you mentioned and will continue to refine it over the next few days. Thanks again for you help ESM 18:39, 6 November 2010 (UTC)

Yep, you can just go to your article and click the 'Move' tab at the top, and then choose what name you want the article to go to. You can always undo/revert it as well, like with all Wikipedia edits :) Chevymontecarlo 21:12, 6 November 2010 (UTC)

Many thanks for feedback on my Waldini entry

As you may have worked out, this is my first foray into the realms of Wikipedia and I'm very grateful for the time you spent looking at it and providing constructive feedback. It is work-in-progress and I am conscious that I need more secondary sources (I've now added one more, and have various research initiatives underway to locate others). Brilliant :-) Good luck! Chevymontecarlo 06:49, 8 November 2010 (UTC)

Hi!!

Thank you so much for helping me edit the Fair Mortgage Collaborative page.

Whenever I try to move and change the name to:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fair Mortgage Collaborative

This is the message I get:

"User:JackieVendetti/Fair Mortgage Collaborative" cannot be moved to "Http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fair Mortgage Collaborative", because the title "Http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fair Mortgage Collaborative" is on the title blacklist. If you feel that this move is valid, please consider requesting the move first.

Do I have to request the move? I thought I already had permission.

Please let me know what I can do.

Thanks so much! Jackie

JackieVendetti (talk) 22:26, 8 November 2010 (UTC)

It seems to me that an article with that name has already been created in the past, most likely not by you, and it was deleted, and someone felt that the name should go on the blacklist to stop any more articles being created with that name. However, you can make a request that it be moved at WP:Requested moves, like that message says. You can add your article to the list by adding to the article's talk page, and I think it should appear here, although this page is new to me. Hope this is useful!
