You sure?
I was thinking about asking you if you want an WP:RFA as a long-standing editor who is excellent in sports topivs. But then I notice that you don't want to be admin userbox on your talk page. If you ever change your mind, just let me know and I will be proud to nominate you. Thanks Jaranda wat's sup 06:41, 6 August 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks, it's a first for me to have someone suggest RFA. It's very flattering. However, I do not think I possess the correct personality traits to be an admin! Looking forward to more collaborations on sports articles in future. Chensiyuan 07:01, 6 August 2007 (UTC)

Thierry Henry
Those two edits I made was not in bad faith. I made this edit because I read Henry was traded but then I reverted my own edit because I read my information was already on there but just accidently didn't erase the word "on". That edit was a test nor a vandalism or done in bad faith. Brave warrior 02:39, 9 August 2007 (UTC)

Hi there!
Just noticed your edits of the MOS. We need more reviewers in the WP:FAC and WP:FAR rooms to stop the promotion of articles with substandard writing. It's a virtual tumult at the moment, and there are never enough copy-edit-type reviewers to "crack the whip". So you'd be welcome there if you had time to drop in. Tony 10:49, 12 August 2007 (UTC)

Tim Duncan
Hi there, I just skimmed through the TD article and found following points to address before making this a FAC:
- The plantar fasciitis thingie of 2006 is unsourced (but well known)
- The foot injury which hampered him in 2005 NBA Finals is unsourced (he irocinally picked it up against the Pistons in the regular season, IIRC)
- Certain individual games have to be sourced, like his almost-quadruple double in the 2003 NBA Finals, the Game 7 loss in the 2006 WCF Semifinal series, his struggles in the Olympics ezc. (TonyTheTiger is a zealot on this)
But mostly, the article is pretty FAC-worthy. —Onomatopoeia 19:11, 12 August 2007 (UTC)
- Never mind that foot thingie, nobody really needs it. I think just a small copyedit, and then we wait for the peer review (at least for the bot), and then we jump into FAC action. —Onomatopoeia 14:16, 13 August 2007 (UTC)

James Milner
I saw your comment on the PR. Thank you for the praise. Personally I don't think it's quite there yet and with the start of a new season and the rumors of him playing for England next week I'm going to wait anyway. But are you suggesting it is ready to be a GAC or even a FAC? Buc 05:57, 18 August 2007 (UTC)
Just letting you know that once tonights under 21 match has been played and I've updated the aricle accordingly, I'm going to nominate it for GA status. Buc 12:14, 21 August 2007 (UTC)
Tim Duncan, FAC
Hi there, thx for your words an Manu, and I want to say that TD is now a FAC. Actually I tried to wait for the peer review, but as the backlog on the peer review page is HUGE atm, I rather went ahead now. —Onomatopoeia 13:18, 19 August 2007 (UTC)

Basketball GA drive
As Director of WP:CHICAGO, I would be very interested in improving any player who was a multiple time All-star who spent the majority of his All-Star years with the Chicago Bulls. If you find any such players whose articles are WP:DYK eligible (less than 1500 characters) these articles are the type that truly could use the help of WP:CHICOTW. Let me know if you are familiar with any such articles. I guess the same would be true of women's basketball players for teams such as the Chicago Sky or Chicago Condors. --TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/tcfkaWCDbwincowtchatlotpsoplrttaDCLaM) 13:48, 19 August 2007 (UTC)

I just dropped lines on the talk page and on Wikipedia:Editor review/OhanaUnited, and i find it completely ludicrous as well. Portobello Road Market
Hi, I thought the image you removed (closeup of a stall) was appropriate for the article. From the existing images, one can't really see what an example of a stall is like. Would appreciate if you could reply at my talkpage, thanks. Chensiyuan 01:14, 23 August 2007 (UTC)
- There is no firm guidance on the use of images in Wiki - there are bits of advice here and there, such as Wikipedia:Guide_to_layout#Images, but one the whole it does come down to common sense. The article is Portobello Road, with a section on Portobello Market. The section on the market only has enough space for one image - of the two available I selected the general view as it gave a decent picture of the market in situ, and had some sense that a person could identify it as Portobello. The other image was a close of a stall and had no unique features - that could be any market stall. Placing another image of the market in the article would be inappropriate - there are other images of Portobello that could be used - a fair use image of Portobello Farm would be interesting, or a map from 1841, a picture of the Electric Cinema, a book shop - that sort of thing. That was my thinking. Regards SilkTork *** SilkyTalk 07:36, 23 August 2007 (UTC)

I know you are not a Mavs fan but...
Hey congrats on getting Tim Duncan to FA, I was wondering if you might be interested in helping me raise José Juan Barea to GA, the article was nominated and failed mostly because it has prose issues and the image has a dubious source, I have referenced everything relevant in it but my prose cleaning skills aren't always the best, interested? - Caribbean~H.Q. 08:21, 31 August 2007 (UTC)

Joey Barton
Hello. I'm trying to get the Joey Barton article to FA standard and I feel it must be quite close to being good enough for candidacy. However some of the prose probably still needs some work, so I was wondering if you knew of any good copyeditors I could ask to work on it. Being dyslexic I guess I'm not the best person to judge articles when it comes to them being well written. But I did try to model it on cureent FA. I'll ask a copyedit user to take a look at it (if you know of a good one please tell me). Regarding your specific piont about "he stated" ect. You'll have to give me an example of what would work for you. Clearly you can see something I can't because I've proof read it many times as well as compering it to current FA. i saw that you made a recent edit to the Dallas Mavericks game log for 2007-08, a very minor one on the 18th if you look at the history of the page. yet the results for games played on the 20th and 21st have been put up but this doesn't appear on the history of the page. How is this so? Did the page automatically appear or can you edit a page and have it deleted from the history section. I dont quite get it. Roadrunnerz45 (talk) 09:39, 23 November 2007 (UTC)

Mass Effect ban
Hi! Though the ban had been mentioned by The Straits Times and also Gamespot ... I had felt that since the it had been overturned prior to the game release that the notability of the "controversy" itself had diminished greatly - it sort of seemed like the controversy that almost happened, but cooler heads prevailed. That is entirely my POV and I could be totally mistaken with regards to that controversy's importance to the article. Please revert if you think the information should remain. thank you! --guyzero | talk 11:45, 7 December 2007 (UTC)

RE: Nowitzki
Hey there, I just saw your edits there, nice job as usual. Now us WP:NBA folk will have to add more online references, especially from ESPN, cnnsi.com or nba.com. But it is a good feeling to have the best available source (the book) already firmly used in the article. Online refs are for free, books are hard to get. —Onomatopoeia (talk) 16:15, 4 January 2008 (UTC)

Reverts on Toronto Raptors
Hey, wanted to ask you about these two reverts that you made on the Raptors article. I don't really see anything wrong with them, so why change them back? Just looking for a bit of explanation, since I can't make heads or tails of your edit summaries. What does "unn ws" mean, anyway? GlassCobra 02:22, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
- The first one was an unnecessary paragraph break. The second did not make the sentence any better. So both were superfluous edits; the version reverted to had been combed over by at least two copyeditors (of which I am not). Chensiyuan (talk) 02:25, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
- I understand. As a matter of personal courtesy, would you mind being a little clearer with your edit summaries? It's a little tough to wade through all the shorthand. Thanks. GlassCobra 02:35, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
- Of course. Although I have to say, after almost 30,000 edits, you're the first to raise this point with me. I think in the articles that I edit frequently, editors have identified me as credible and don't check on my edits all that much. I suppose you could develop your own system of sifting out the immediately suspicious edits... otherwise it's a lot of work. The edit summary has its usefulness, but the edit summary could purport to be truthful but beneath it is actually a vandalism edit (seen lots of that). So one actually has to click on the diff to see if it is a proper edit. In the final analysis, the edit summary is only useful for articles which are heavily edited. I'm not justifying my lack of an edit summary, just explaining my analysis. Cheers. Chensiyuan (talk) 02:36, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
- I'm definitely not trying to call your credibility into question in any way, and I apologize if my comment came across as such. As I said, it's merely a point of personal preference, when even after I look at the diffs, I still could not tell what the edit summary was supposed to mean. No offense intended. Your copyedit request
On August 3, 2007, you made a request to the League of Copyeditors for a copyedit on Chris Bosh. Due to a heavy backlog and a shortage of copyeditors, we have been unable to act on your request in a timely manner, for which we aplogize. Since your request, this article has been subject to significant editing, and may no longer be a good candidate for copyediting by the League. If you still wish the League to copyedit this article, please review this article against our new criteria and follow the instructions on the Requests page. This will include your request in our new system, where it should receive more prompt attention. SlackerMom (talk) 18:09, 18 January 2008 (UTC)

Move roster templates
Hello Chensiyuan, as a NBA WikiProject member, I am interested in your opinion on moving the roster templates. My proposal is located here. Thanks, Crzycheetah 02:41, 26 February 2008 (UTC)
Hi Chensiyuan! I suspect that this user (Colleenthegreat) is in fact a disruptive user, verging on vandalism. When you have time, please take a look at her contributions - she hasn't been around long, so look at her last 500 contributions. You will see that virtually all edits she has made to articles were just silly comments which were in most cases immediately reverted. Many of her edits are also on user talk pages - and many are vandalism warnings ... but look closer. Her vandalism warnings to anonymous users is itself silly - we all know thousands of non-registered users screw around with pages every day. Many even self-revert! Most are caught quickly ... but I know of no seasoned admin who then leaves a vandalism warning. Why? An anonymous user only has an IP address and for all we know, two hours later or the next day a different person may make good edits from the same address. Or this non-registered vandal is doing this once and will never come back. In the examples I see of Colleenthegreat's "warnings," the only effect she had was to create a talk page for an IP address, in many cases an IP addressed used only once. When I saw her edits to the talk:Jesus page, I thought she was just a total newbie who did not know our policies; then I saw her disregard Andrew c's point about her policies ... and finally I looked at her contributions. I think her account exists only to make disruptive edits. Could you go over her contributions and provide another opinion? Thanks, Slrubenstein | Talk 11:55, 26 February 2008 (UTC)

From our pov it's quite obvious it's him, but I don't mind waiting for more incriminating edits to crop up before making a case. I think his new strategy now is to only go for the jugular edit after some time. Chensiyuan (talk) 11:53, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

A compromise for the Raptors & Spurs userbox templates
1. I know the photos are not fair use. However, in keeping with the pattern of having the abbreviation in the left of the userboxes, I reverted them to be like the rest of the userboxes. 2. For those who prefer the photos, I have created separate userboxes for the photo-based template: {{User: Chensiyuan/Userboxes/Raptors}} and {{User: Chensiyuan/Userboxes/Spurs}}. Does that sound like a good compromise to you? Tom Danson (talk) 05:27, 4 March 2008 (UTC)

Suggestion
Hello Chensiyuan, As we are approaching the end of the NBA regular season, do you think it is worthwhile to put the player stats that are available on each teams template? Just wondering thats all, if you could do one team and i can see the format etc. you put it in and then i will eventually do the rest. Its your choice, maybe this should be a discussion on the NBA project page. Thanks keep it up Roadrunnerz45 (talk) 08:38, 28 March 2008 (UTC)
- Hi, it sounds plausible, and I won't mind chipping in a little. But feel free to make the prototype though. I'm not good at templates at all. Chensiyuan (talk) 13:59, 28 March 2008 (UTC)
- There is a user Gpasqualicchio who did the Cavs player stats for last season which you can see here: click The user has added 6 more stat categories to the current template and im hinting at doing it like this, all we have to do is copy and paste it. Soxrock is on an indefinite wikibreak who created the original templates so its up to you. Happy Wikipeding! Roadrunnerz45 (talk) 02:10, 29 March 2008 (UTC)

Dirk Nowitzki
Hi there. I notice User:Onomatopoeia hasn't made any contributions for more than a week. I've still got Dirk Nowitzki on hold at GA. There are a few outstanding issues at this moment on the talk page. It's probably good enough for a pass already, but I reckon the article is pretty close to a stab at FAC, so was keeping it on hold until everything was resolved, and seeing how far the GAN could take it.
I don't know if you want to try and fix the remaining issues, or have any other suggestions where to head. Peanut4 (talk) 12:12, 6 April 2008 (UTC)

Magic Johnson has been chosen to be our very first Collaboration of the Month article. Although this is article is already a Good Article, it still can be improved. The goal is to improve this article by the end of May so that it can be nominated for Featured Article status. In particular, free-use images should be found for the article, all Manual of Style guidelines should be followed, and a neutral point of view should be maintained throughout the article. If there is anything you can do to improve the article, then please help out. |

Recent Vandalism?
I did not vandalise the page. This is not my own website or some commercial website. So your comments are invalid. How do the recent additions of links constitute vandalism? They are relevant to the subject at hand.
Can you give justification as to why they are vandalism? If you want we can discuss this like adults via email. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 130.126.37.248 (talk) 22:09, 16 June 2008 (UTC)

Bill Russell has been nominated for a featured article review. Articles are typically reviewed for two weeks. Please leave your comments and help us to return the article to featured quality. If concerns are not addressed during the review period, articles are moved onto the Featured Article Removal Candidates list for a further period, where editors may declare "Keep" or "Remove" the article from featured status. Last month's Collaboration of the Month, Magic Johnson was a great success. A total of 560 edits were made to the article during the month of May, and the article was eventually nominated as a Featured Article Candidate. Although the article was not promoted, it was significantly improved through the work of many editors. This month's Collaboration of the Month is Steve Nash. Although this is article is already a Good Article, it still can be improved. In particular, all prose should conform to Featured Article standards, all statements should be verified, and the text should be in a neutral point of view. If there is anything you can do to improve the article, then please help out.
The Collaborator of the Month is given to the editor with the most number of substantial, beneficial edits to the article chosen as the Collaboration of the Month. This month's Collaborator of the Month award goes to Chensiyuan (talk · contribs). Although he had previously helped Magic Johnson to became a Good article, he made literally hundreds of edits during the month of May. For his contributions, he is rewarded with the NBA Collaborator of the Month Award. However, all beneficial edits made by any editor was a help. Sorry. Yes, I'd seen your comment but hadn't replied at all. Do you think you could amend the couple of outstanding points? Basically at the moment it's nearly a pass, but I'd fail it, because the lead doesn't sum up the article, and there are a couple of points which are essentially jargon and not really understandable to non-basketball fans. It would be a shame to fail it, which is why I've kept it on hold for 10+ days now, and tried to get other help, because it's nearly a pass, and other than those points, a very good pass. Peanut4 (talk) 23:37, 10 July 2008 (UTC)
- Not to worry at all. The article is close to GA in my opinion. At least I know my review will help point out what needs doing. Peanut4 (talk) 17:53, 11 July 2008 (UTC)
Cesc Fabregas
Hi, some members of Wikiproject:GA are conducting what are known as sweeps. In this project, all GAs promoted before 26 August 2007 (this version) are being checked to make sure they conform with the current criteria. This is because a significant number of GAs were promoted before the criteria were stabilised and these may now not qualify for GA and will need to be brought up to standard. Others have deteriorated over time. Fabregas qualified quite comfortably, but if it hadn't I would have left a message outlining the problems and giving a minimum period of seven days in which work should start on improving the article (more time avaliable on request). For more formal and potentially controversial reviews, articles are taken to WP:GAR for community assessment, but this is a form of quality control rather than a strict review process. Hope that answers your questions.--Jackyd101 (talk) 09:51, 19 July 2008 (UTC)
English vs. American spelling
Great editing! It needs to be done and it is so great to have people like you who will do it! One small thing - I noticed in one of your edits (I haven't looked at others) you changed "realises" to "realizes". "Realises" is the Canadian or English spelling of the word. Being that you edited a Candian book (Anne of the Island, I think), realises should have stayed.Lilygnat (talk) 17:07, 21 July 2008 (UTC)
