Activity notice
I'll be in and out for the next few days over the (USA) holiday (this one). I'll try to check in where I can, but it may be spotty. I'm not bugging out of any of the conversations I'm in, just that I want to enjoy the real outside world for a bit too. Hope everyone else has a good weekend. Cheers and best to all. — Ched : ? 13:46, 2 July 2011 (UTC)
WP:RFA2011: RfA on other Wikipedias
A detailed table and notes have now been created and posted. It compares how RfA is carried out on major Wikipedias (English, French, German, Italian, Spanish). If you feel that other important language Wikipedias should be added, please let us know. This may however depend on our/your language skills!

Stopping by
There is no crusade. I'm willing to defend my point and engage all comers, but there is no crusade. The real issue for Delta is opposition. He's perfectly civil if no one talks to him. The problem is when people start to oppose him. This was a problem before and it's still a problem now. In addition to the incident in which he was blocked for, here he makes a bad faith assumption and essentially accuses the editor of editing without due care [1], to which the editor clearly states that he did read it [2], in addition he gets aggressive with the editor for leaving talk back messages [3], but if you note the time stamp you'll see he says that a full 11 minutes before he actually bothers to tell the editor he doesn't want talk back messages [4]. [5] and this is again in the same vein. Despite what some of his supporters say, Delta has been engaging in edit wars over questionable images which the 3RR exemption for NFCC edits does not support, this causes conflict as well. Or antagonizing admins [6], during the conversation over 2 months ago he was reminded about the "unquestionable" text in the NFCC exemption by the admin [7], but Delta continues to ignore that and plow forward. Here he makes an inappropriate and uncivil edit summary [8], and when taken to task for it [9], he gets snarky, then removes the discussion calling it "trolling". Let's look at this exchange with this user: [10] The extent of Delta's communication is template, then threaten to block and edit war on the user page. Is he right? sure is. But is he right? no he isn't. he made no real attempt to talk to the user and instead preferred to template, threaten and edit war. This is not community centric behaviour. The problem here is that due to his editing style, he sets himself up for confrontation and when it occurs he's not that great at handling it. Combine that with the fact that he edits at a higher rate and he's setting himself up for even more confrontation that he has a track record of not handling well. Even today we have another user upset at the way Delta treated them. His being right is not enough and irrelevant to the issue at hand. If he cannot handle interactions properly with editors it's a huge issue, he doesn't belong in a community setting. Is my method slower? sure is, but if we all pitch in, we can get there. The key thing is that my method works. Delta has even admitted that he doesn't know how big the problem actually is on a daily basis. All he really knows is the backlog. For all we know there might only be a hundred images a day created with rationale issues, even editing slowly a few editors could knock that out. So no, there has not been just 1 single incident. He's received 1 block for it, but opposition to him is often met with issues which is the real problem. Leaving him alone is not the answer. Him discontinuing what he's doing is the only answer. NFCC and possibly even this community is not the right place for him.--Crossmr (talk) 23:37, 4 July 2011 (UTC)
- and I just came across this aggressive little exchange here [11], I'm seeing assumptions of bad faith and insults and in which an admin cited him for edit warring (no block) and locked a template over his behaviour.--Crossmr (talk) 23:46, 4 July 2011 (UTC)
- I'll be happy to address this tomorrow. Apologies, but it is late. All my best — Ched : ? 05:16, 5 July 2011 (UTC)
- Crossmr, to be honest here? I grow weary of this battle. You obviously have a huge desire to rid the project of this user. I don't know why, and to be honest, I just lack the energy to care. I've talked to Delta. I like the guy. I appreciate what he's trying to do, and I resent the folks that sit and complain about NFC simply because of the "IDONTLIKEIT". Yes, it would be nice if we could just use any picture we found on the Internet to our own advantage. But that's just not the case. And it would be wonderful if everyone we run into on the Internet was a warm fuzzy person. But that's not reality. And it doesn't make a person that's not a touchy-feely kind of person a "bad" person. You want to get rid of Delta? .. fine.. Have at it dude. He's a big boy. He can speak his own mind. You are simply NOT going to convince me that he is doing anything worth banning. He's fully within our policies. When asked, he fully explains why he did what he did. The fact that someone doesn't "like it" .. is sad, but irrelevant. My thoughts are that some folks need to climb down off their high-horse and step into reality. NFC .. fair use .. whatever you want to call it, doesn't mean that "ohhh goodies... I kin use someone eles's work in what every way I want". Look, I appreciate what you do. And seeing all the "thank you" stuff on your page is a testament to your hard work. You are obviously doing a lot of good hard work here. I complement you on that. Frankly though? I'm tired. I quit. I give up. You want to crucify Delta? Hey .. go for it. Lord knows you'll have plenty of company. cheers dude. — Ched : ? 13:52, 5 July 2011 (UTC)
- So you come to my page to engage me and when faced with evidence of on-going behaviour issues, suddenly you're weary? Once again, this has nothing to do with NFCC and using images, it is only about his disruptive behaviour which has been going on for years, for which he was community banned, for which he's had some many chances to turn it around that it's ridiculous. It's about the users who have stated they've left the project over his actions, and other users who may have left without actually stating that. It's for the future users we may lose based on his behaviour. That is why I want him banned, because it's a very long-term disruption that shows no signs of ending. Even with all the eyes on him, he's still doing these things. One would expect that when everyone is watching, you'd be on your best behaviour. So what happens if everyone totally ignores him? History will repeat itself as it already is. Nowhere do I want to change our fair use rules at all. I've never once said that. My goal is to improve the project and the articles. This may very well be Delta's goal as well, but he's going about it the wrong way and he's been going about it the wrong way for years despite all attempts by the community to correct it.--Crossmr (talk) 23:20, 5 July 2011 (UTC)
- I came to your page because you addressed me directly in that AN/I thread. But whatever Crossmr ... as you said ... I'm not spending enough time editing articles. later. — Ched : ? 01:42, 6 July 2011 (UTC)
