- Sounds like good advise to self. I've learned the more you stay away from problem areas in life, the better. I'm sure that holds true for wiki. You have a dog on your user page and on Bugs' page you said you're a grandad, so I bet you're a neat guy.BarkingMoon (talk) 19:10, 7 May 2011 (UTC)
- I'd recommend staying away from AE as well. Some areas of the project are just more trouble than they're worth. And that includes anything to do with Irish Republicanism, Palestine-Israel relationships, Scientology, Ayn Rand, the Balkans, the British Isles ... Malleus Fatuorum 19:17, 7 May 2011 (UTC)

I think Techoutsider left. If you go to his talk page, you would go to a randomly named username. Also, if you follow the talk page, you would see Techoutsider requested to leave --Tyw7 (☎ Contact me! • Contributions) Wikipedia wants YOU! Join today! 11:58, 8 May 2011 (UTC)

Light current
What would it take to get the user "Light current" unbanned and unblocked? He was banned over 4 years ago due to ref desk misbehavior, but there is no longer any energy by the ref desk regulars towards maintaining the ban. Rather than continuing the constant fighting, I would like to see him unshackled, to see if he can actually contribute something useful. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 03:26, 10 May 2011 (UTC)
- Hmmmmm .. not really sure. Was he banned by the WP:AC or at ANI? .. I'll look around if you'd like, maybe just posting a request to ANI if it wasn't an arb thing. — Ched : ? 03:29, 10 May 2011 (UTC)
- I don't know for sure, as it was before my time; but I'm fairly certain it was from ANI. Note the block log for Light current (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log), and it refers to ANI. I'll see if I can find the specific archive from which it grew. The other day, someone was telling me he wasn't "really" banned. I don't understand that. But if so, in theory an admin could unilaterally unblock the guy, right? (With the understanding that he needs to straighten up and fly right.) ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 03:32, 10 May 2011 (UTC)

- I'd like to see you get unbanned and unblocked so you can be productive like you want to be. A ban has to do with a person rather than an account. So you would have to get unbanned before you can legally edit again, no matter what the ID is. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 03:41, 10 May 2011 (UTC)

- (edit conflict) I think a lot would depend on the circumstances. I know of at least one admin. that absolutely seems to delight in hauling other admins. to RFAR to try to get them desysopped, and I sure don't want to mess around with him .. even though I think he's running a little short on rope these days. I was looking at a page, and it said 2009 .. but not sure of circumstances. Will help try to find it though — Ched : ? 03:43, 10 May 2011 (UTC)

- OK LC/Glitch, here is what I would suggest - First, don't edit ANYWHERE except your new talk page .. (I'll post a welcome there in a moment) - then what I would suggest is that someone post a request at ANI to have the ban lifted so that you can edit. If you'd like, I will even post the request. — Ched : ? 04:03, 10 May 2011 (UTC)

where do I know you from?
Hmm...I'm not sure if we've ever worked on an article together. I see you around plenty, of course. It's possible that you know me from various reports at AIV, maybe. There is a tool that tells you how much editors have interacted with each other; User:Mandarax knows how to work it. Maybe I'll ask him after my nap, and then we can pick up the fight where we left it off all those years ago. ;) Thanks for the support, by the way. Drmies (talk) 19:59, 22 May 2011 (UTC)

- Ahhhhh ... ok ... that's probably it. Doing well kelapstick, just all too often so busy with real life and all. trying to get a few edits in when I can in my user space for a couple articles, but seems to be taking me forever. Hope you're doing well also. — Ched : ? 22:00, 22 May 2011 (UTC)

- Ha, I thought there was a CoM connection, but I didn't see you among the last 1000 of his talk page edits... I'll plow through them one by one, after I take these two monkeys here to the store and back. Maybe all of us will still be alive, but some are certainly applying to stay elsewhere. Drmies (talk) 22:09, 22 May 2011 (UTC)
- Yep, once kelapstick mentioned the connection it rang a bell. Last I had heard CoM had been banned, but I don't know if that's still the case.
- @Bugs, lol ... yea, they say everybody has a twin .. poor guy. :D .. By the way, I think that Ref Desk guy ended up being blocked again. (along with all the socks). Got a bit confusing for a bit - but haven't seen much mention of it since we tried to get him/her straightened away. Oh well, guess some folks just won't learn.
- @Mandarax ... very nice tool .. thank you. — Ched : ? 22:16, 22 May 2011 (UTC)

Task Force Information: Recent updates include basic minor changes and condensing at the main page, new project sub page and talk for Radical Alternatives , additional comments on the main page talk page, and messages at Task force talk. A current priority is to reach suggested criteria/tasks for clerks, and then to establish a local consensus vis-à-vis clerking. Please remember to keep all the project and its talk pages on your watchlist.--Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 03:36, 24 May 2011 (UTC)

Re.
Just for the record – I don't have the diff to hand either, but I distinctly remember saying that I would be checking Sarek's edits for (a) rollback abuse and (b) INVOLVED violations, both of which are explicit policy violations and thus come under the general heading of 'tracking an editor's contributions for policy violations' in my opinion.
However, that will hopefully become academic, because this interaction ban will stop Sarek from deliberately irritating me into objecting to their rampant abuse of admin tools. ╟─TreasuryTag►condominium─╢ 22:20, 24 May 2011 (UTC)
- Probably for the best for all involved actually. The thing is, I actually do respect and even like both of you. You both are capable of such great work here. Perhaps it's just a matter of frustration building up over a period of time, and it just gets to the point where neither side can appreciate the other person's point of view. Hopefully a little time in different areas will help everyone involved restore a calm and rational method of editing. Best of luck to you. — Ched : ? 22:26, 24 May 2011 (UTC)

- Thank you Stanistani. I generally try to avoid political and religious articles due to the .... ummmm ... difficulty usually found in those areas. I also realize that I pretty much distanced myself from any type of "majority" here on WP, but at times I just have to say what I think. Santorum
Just wanted to drop a note saying I respect your opinion and what you have to say. I'm uncomfortable that the article will help spread the neologism but am more uncomfortable that Wikipedia would shy away from covering topics that have been analyzed by good sources because they are damaging to a BLP. Anyways, know that I don't brush off your concerns. --NeilN talk to me 00:45, 28 May 2011 (UTC)
- Thank you Neil. I also respect the views that you and others share about our efforts to impart knowledge to our audience. In fact, to the point that I'm willing to concede that something of the article could be a viable entry, but in my opinion, only in the Dan Savage article itself. (as I said, only IMHO, as the majority of the community appears to desire something different). With respect to the various policies and guidelines themselves, (which I did fail to address), in general I tend to read through our rules with the thought of getting a feel for the spirit and intent of said policy or guideline. I'm not one for remembering specific quotes from any specific policy, but I try to understand the general idea what it's trying to get across. Hopefully I'll be able to agree and support the views of those whom I disagreed with in this particular instance in our next encounter. Hope you have a great weekend, (or holiday depending on current locale). — Ched : ? 01:00, 28 May 2011 (UTC)
