Block Removed

Thank you. I am now able to edit.--Kzooman 16:57, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

Need a bit of help here, can't figure out what is going on, and it looks certainly like vandalism but controlling it is beyond my power. NovaDog 20:49, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the note. Another admin seems to have cleaned up the mess. Even when I'm online, you can often get a faster response at WP:AIV. Cheers!--Chaser - T 20:58, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

Idea

Hey, Chaser! I found a idea, there's a book called Hubert Invents the Wheel, but no article about it! Luckily, I know the plot. Whaddya' say we make a article about it?--The source of the cosmos... 21:30, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

I found a few sources on the internet and I think that's a fine idea. Why don't you get started on a plot write-up at User:A legend/Hubert and I will hunt down reviews and such to include.--Chaser - T 21:47, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

Check it. I have a plot down in my draft, too!--The source of the cosmos... 22:21, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

Wikipedia has a new administrator!

Thanks, Archive 11!
Thank you for voicing your opinion in my RfA, which passed today with a unanimous 79/0/0 tally. It feels great to be appreciated, and I will try my best to meet everyone's expectations. If you have any advice or tips, feel free to pass them along, as I am sure that I will need them! Cheers, hmwith talk 21:43, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

Re Grand Roi

Chaser, since you seem to have adopted Le Grand Roi des Citrouilles, perhaps you could give him some further guidance with regard to participation in AfD discussions. His contributions here and, especially, here are so far off topic that they would be risible if they did not seem purposely designed to confuse the discussion. (Unfortunatlely, since the latter article has been deleted, the utter irrelevance of the links he added to the article is not readily seen.) I'm willing to believe that Roi is acting in good faith, but he needs some help in keeping his enthusiastic inclusionism within reasonable bounds. Deor 19:00, 2 October 2007 (UTC)

Hi Deor, my suggestion with the Molecular static article was and is that, because scholarly scientific sources in journal articles exist it should be revised to cover the scientific stuff that we do have reliable sources for. I agreed that it was hard to find references for the charmed stuff, but my suggestion was merely that we use the science articles to create a new article of the same name, something Jay32183 agreed with: "If there's an actual scientific concept with the same name it could get an article. It shouldn't be written on top of this article. If this article is kept then it should be moved to Molecular Static (Charmed) and give the science article this spot. You can move this article there now if you wish. Moving this article won't affect this debate or the science article though." Regarding the song discussion, once I saw your reply that its a duplicate article, I responded to you that in that case a merge/redirect would be appropriate. Plus, a good deal of editors have reacted favorably to my arguments lately: [1] and [2]. Best, --Le Grand Roi des CitrouillesTally-ho! 19:14, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
I don't believe I was addressing you, GR, but I'll respond anyway (with apologies to Chaser). None of the sources you cited with respect to Molecular Static used the term "molecular static" or referred to any such concept; in them, static was used as an adjective, not a noun, and the adjective molecular modified some word other than static. Seizing on Google results for concatenations of words that you don't understand, and then using those results to add irrelevant links to articles, is perhaps not the best way to contribute to the building of an encyclopedia. Deor 19:25, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
Dear Deor, the articles I referenced discussed "Molecular Static", which seems to be used as a noun. Regards, --Le Grand Roi des CitrouillesTally-ho! 19:29, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
Please note the discussion has been moved and continued here. Sincerely, --Le Grand Roi des CitrouillesTally-ho! 21:54, 2 October 2007 (UTC)

Calgary

Re Dominik92 - thanks for looking into it. I know Calgary isn't a small town :) My IP check on those users showed them from coming from one of Calgary's suburbs. Appreciate the semi-protect on my user page! Cheers.--Lepeu1999 19:20, 2 October 2007 (UTC)

Comment

Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/I_Bet_You_Look_Good_On_The_Dancefloor_(song). Le Grand simply voted keep, even though he didn't even bother to read the nomination note which clearly explained things. The article in AFD is a duplicate of another, and so it makes sense to remove one (or redirect at the least). AFD comments like that one, make me believe Le Grand doesn't read the article or pay much attention to the nomination note. I'm growing tired of this behaviour. I don't see how anyone can miss the note, unless they simply just skip it and go to edit right away...and vote keep. In this case: I think that's what Le Grand did. Not even bothering to read the nomination is simply unacceptable. RobJ1981 19:56, 2 October 2007 (UTC)

Rob, please stop misrepresenting things. I didn't see the original article until a fellow editor provided an internal link to it. The nomination just said "two articles" without listing the other one. Once I read that link by Deor indicating where the original article was, I then changed my position. Claiming that I don't "read the article" is again unfair and inaccurate, considering that I edited the article four times! I'm more than happy to edit with you on friendly terms and if there's anything you feel we can work on to cool things between us, that's fine, but Chaser suggested we avoid each other and I don't understand why you haven't extended me the same courtesy after he made that suggestion? I have not posted in anything you have today (aside from replying to this false representation of things), please do the same for me. Sincerely, --Le Grand Roi des CitrouillesTally-ho! 20:09, 2 October 2007 (UTC)

Another encouraging reaction!

See this edit. I'm finding some of these to really make the experience rewarding! :) I hope your day is going well! Sincerely, --Le Grand Roi des CitrouillesTally-ho! 00:31, 3 October 2007 (UTC)

Just to give you a heads up, I participated in the above discussion today that concerns a style of article for which I've participated in numerous discussions about and because I consider myself somewhat knowledgeable on Stephen King. I have intentionally avoided other discussions and articles edited by the two editors who argued with me in the past today and have limited my AfD participation for today to this one discussion alone. Move protection of FAs - edit summaries

I was confused for a while by this. I've been looking through your logs, and I now see that some of them say "move protection". Presumably you are carrying out the guidance at Wikipedia:Main Page featured article protection#Move protection? I think the "move=sysop" bit indicates this, but do you think you could make the protection summary a bit more informative? At first glance, what someone sees is "protected Orion (mythology)" - and I thought, "hang on, that's not right". Ideally, the edit summary would say "move protected Orion (mythology)". Carcharoth 14:32, 4 October 2007 (UTC)

Yes, I'd gotten so many questions about this in the past few days I had to add a notice to my talk page [6]. It's probably time for more informative summaries. Thanks for the note.--chaser - t 17:17, 4 October 2007 (UTC)

Question about wiki smiles/barnstars, etc.

Dear Chaser, is there a master page of friendly templates (barnstars, smiles, etc.) with which users can post on other editor's talk pages? An editor just left this message on my talk page, which I think is really nice and I wanted to post a smile or something on his page to acknowledge this kind message. If you have any ideas of what might be appropriate, please let me know. It's just one of the most friendly things anyone has posted on my talk page yet, and I wanted to return the kindness. Thanks! Sincerely, --Le Grand Roi des CitrouillesTally-ho! 00:30, 5 October 2007 (UTC)

being bullied and accused of sock puppeting

User:Inetpup has been bullying me for the past few days. Worst of all she leaves insults on my discussion page, claiming I'm a sock puppet and a "dubious user". The damage is done. People will look at my history and wonder if its true, even though the accusation is totally false. This all started because I rightfully deleted an edit he/she made in Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport.

The reason I'm writing to you is because you already warned her about making false accusations just a few weeks ago. Maybe you should issue a sterner warning or outright block this person?

Regards, Graham Wellington 00:19, 8 October 2007 (UTC)

Chaser, would you support me bringing Inetpup to either WP:WQA or WP:RFC#Request comment on users ?--Matt 20:53, 8 October 2007 (UTC)
I had to take a while to think over my response, but I realized that it's contingent on where the dispute is occurring. I understand that you and Inetpup have had problems for a while that led to me warning him not to troll your talk page. There is also the accusation above and the Phoenix Airport handcuff incident. Is that all that would be the subject of an RFC or is there something else?--chaser - t 08:25, 9 October 2007 (UTC)
I appreciate your patience. The draft of what I object to is at User:Mlaroche/InetpupRfcDraft. Thanks. --Matt 12:09, 9 October 2007 (UTC)
I consider that sockpuppetry case closed. No need to lay into someone forever for something from many months ago. Let me look over the other things and get back to you, though my initial assessment is that I can be more helpful than an RFC (which gauges community consensus on a controversial issue).--chaser - t 21:48, 9 October 2007 (UTC)
The sockpuppetry claim is old and resolved, yes. However, it's another example of Inetpup trying to get his way and being a poor member of society while doing it. --Matt 00:28, 10 October 2007 (UTC)
Let me look into this and get back to you.--chaser - t 01:57, 10 October 2007 (UTC)
I should say I'm sorry. In my editing history and comments, you'll see that I am ready and willing to apologize when somebody points out a mistake. In this case, I made a mistake and sorry. --Inetpup 16:11, 10 October 2007 (UTC)
OK, I left a note at User_talk:Inetpup#Wikipedia_policies_and_practice. Anyone is welcome to drop me a line if there are further problems.--chaser - t 08:17, 11 October 2007 (UTC)

I have the evidence you require. Graham is (or appears to be) a sock puppet of 67.83.219.204. This should clear my name of any false accusations. Thanks! --Inetpup 14:34, 9 October 2007 (UTC)

That's not what I meant by evidence. I meant diffs showing similarities, like this. If you can compile a prima facie case, I will look into it further.--chaser - t 21:48, 9 October 2007 (UTC)
It might technically be sockpuppetry, but many users sometimes accidentally edit while not logged in. this edit shows that Graham probably is the same as the IP. I don't see anything actionable, and I don't see any reason to impugn Graham's reputation because he sometimes edits from an IP and sometimes from his account. Without malice, and therefore intent, who cares? --Matt 00:27, 10 October 2007 (UTC)
Sometimes I forget to log in before editing. Graham Wellington 01:24, 10 October 2007 (UTC)
Nothing wrong with that. Matt: I left a similar message [7] about sockpuppet abuse. Thanks for reminding us.--chaser - t 01:57, 10 October 2007 (UTC)

Lazy

However, I have a question. I don't quite get the Edit protection vs. the Move protection function. the_undertow talk 04:00, 8 October 2007 (UTC)

It's explained in Wikipedia:Protection policy. Move-protection protects a page against page moves. For example, non-sysops cannot move WP:AIV, but they can edit it.--chaser - t 04:20, 8 October 2007 (UTC)
Thanks. It was so simple that it flew way over my head. Protection isn't really my thing. I really just prefer arbitrarily deleting things. Haha. Joking. the_undertow talk 05:27, 8 October 2007 (UTC)

Re: Fred Bauder

I do not understand the suggestion to post my complaint on Fred Bauder's talk page. What will that accomplish? I interpret that to mean that there is nothing to do and that arbitrators can do what they want. I did post on Fred Bauder's talk page at the time of his vote, even though the other parties named in the arbitration did not want me to out of fear of retribution from Fred Bauder. His answer was that his vote was perfectly appropriate as, even though the article was a subject of the open arbitraion on the COI and self-promotion issues of Rosencomet, he felt the article by Rosencomet on himself was a good article.

You are suggesting that now, eight months after the Arbitration has closed, that posting on Fred Bauder's talk page would have some effect, although it had none at the time? Could you explain your reasoning to me? Thank you. --Mattisse 13:20, 8 October 2007 (UTC)

That wasn't my advice. Ask Viridae.--chaser - t 18:37, 8 October 2007 (UTC)

What the?

1. I have absolutely no idea why you have blocked me, can you please explain?

2. I don't think I have once made an unregistered edit to wikipedia

3. I have never claimed to be from a small town, I have never claimed to be living in Calgary

4. In the past week I have been on the road and using my laptop to accept open wireless internet connections, at the time of your supposed vandalism, I was somewhere in Ontario or Quebec possibly.--Dominik92 18:25, 8 October 2007 (UTC)

Did you read Wikipedia:Suspected sock puppets/dominik92?--chaser - t 18:43, 8 October 2007 (UTC) Actually, your third point makes clear you did. Anyway, the strongest possibility that I saw was sockpuppetry. The other possibility is someone impersonating you (who's also one of 33 million people living in Canada). Have you made any enemies here that might have been doing that?--chaser - t 19:32, 8 October 2007 (UTC)

Not that I can remember, but is it possible that someone just picked a random account to vandalize from?--Dominik92 14:21, 9 October 2007 (UTC)

And made the same "propaganda film" edit before and after you? Not likely.--chaser - t 21:48, 9 October 2007 (UTC)

Ah crap! I think I know what happened now, somebody I know has been using my account and computer to do that, I have changed my password accordingly, but I don't think I can do anything about the vandalism from unregistered users, I guess the only thing you can do is semi-protect Saving Private Ryan or just the IP if it works that way (I don't know I'm no expert!) and sorry about all the trouble.--Dominik92 22:01, 9 October 2007 (UTC)

It's OK. I'm glad you changed the password. I will semiprotect in the future if this happens again. The IP range is too big to simply block it (half a million IPs).--chaser - t 22:04, 9 October 2007 (UTC)

I have spent a good deal of time on this article today, which is also under discussion. Anyway, if you could look over the article and related discussion, I would appreciate it. Best, --Le Grand Roi des CitrouillesTally-ho! 20:37, 9 October 2007 (UTC)

Oh my, yes you have. Good work. To answer Mandsford's objections, you might retitle it (moving during an AFD is allowed) to "List of youngest leaders in their field" and add ages.--chaser - t 21:48, 9 October 2007 (UTC)
Dear Chaser, thank you for the reply. I am a little hesitant to say anything further in that AfD now, because I do not want to risk fanning tensions with this editor who posted after me and also because the individual who nominated that article posted this message (I sent you an email as well about it as it's quite insulting). I thought my efforts to improve the article were helpful, but I want to avoid conflict and if that is the reaction I got from other editors, I do not know if it is worth improving that particular article further? Thank you again for the fast and constructive feedback! Otherwise, things seem to be pretty good: [8] and [9]. I hope all is well with you! Sincerely, --Le Grand Roi des CitrouillesTally-ho! 22:25, 9 October 2007 (UTC)
After my warning, Durova blocked Otto. I wouldn't worry about the comment in the first diff you cite, but my suggestion was more aimed at improvements to be made to the article. Without making them, it may be deleted. I'll be glad to provide you with the full history if that happens.--chaser - t 01:57, 10 October 2007 (UTC)
Okay, maybe I'll look it over again a bit later (a new episode of Law & Order SVU is on!). Best, --Le Grand Roi des CitrouillesTally-ho! 02:01, 10 October 2007 (UTC)

today's drama

People who act extravagantly usually get noticed. The matter seems in good hands, but I will post my 2¢--I was literally caught napping. The clever work more slowly & the only defense there is to have equal patience & tenacity. I try to do that. DGG (talk) 22:33, 9 October 2007 (UTC)

You're great DGG. I wish we had ten of you.--chaser - t 01:57, 10 October 2007 (UTC)

What was the whole point of this:[10]? I don't think a pp-usertalk was necessary considering he removed most of the malicious comments. You could have at least simply denied his request for unblocking instead of reverting back to the insults and whatnots...well I'll leave it up to you. nattang 07:29, 10 October 2007 (UTC)

I did restore insults with the blind revert. Point taken. Thank you. My point was to avoid more stuff like this.--chaser - t 07:39, 10 October 2007 (UTC)

SCOTUS AfD

My jaw dropped when I saw your recent edit to List of United States Supreme Court cases, volume 113 adding the AfD tag. Then of course I realized what had happened (thank God I didn't falsely report a rouge admin) : - ) . I commented (twice) on the AfD page. Cheers. --MZMcBride 01:46, 11 October 2007 (UTC)

Changing votes

Changing a vote twice is pretty shoddy behaviour, even if there's no specific policy against it. All I did was point this out, and highlight SnareVulcano's hypocrisy in accusing me of process-abuse, and s/he starts accusing me of Wikiquette issues. At this point I see no need to continue being excessively polite; s/he has assumed no good faith. I look forward to your hopefully non-biased answer. Most recent approach to discussions and articles

Dear Chaser, please see Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/99 Ways to Die (song). I came upon a discussion with all deletes, but then did a search on the article and found that in its previous version the article did not contain much, but after some quick research, I was able to expand and clean up the article by adding references from The New York Times and Time and expanding its notability by discovering that in addition to appearing on two albums the song is a Grammy nominee: [11], [12], [13], [14]. Does the above seem like the right approach to take? Best, --Le Grand Roi des CitrouillesTally-ho! 01:59, 16 October 2007 (UTC)

Good work.--chaser - t 03:26, 16 October 2007 (UTC)

By the way, per Durova's request, I did search for and have found another hoax article in which I could vote delete as a means of showing that I can opine in that fashion on occasion: [15]. Sincerely, --Le Grand Roi des CitrouillesTally-ho! 16:56, 24 October 2007 (UTC)

Green Kirby Request For Adminship

There is a frequent contributor to mainly the talk page of Super Smash Bros. Brawl. He is only 13 years old and often makes forum-like discussions, then gets angry when they're deleted. Well recently he added himself to become a manager, and obviously didn't do it right. If possible, Wikipedia:Requests_for_adminship/Green_Kirby, can you go ahead and close that, and send him a message. I feel he is a good kid at heart, but doesn't have any experience, doesn't really follow talk page rules, and isn't much of a contributor. Thanks a lot. Trevor "Tinkleheimer" Haworth 23:12, 18 October 2007 (UTC)

Sorry I didn't attend to this sooner, but it looks like others have already offered friendly advice (except for that bit at the end from Sukecchi). The RFA doesn't actually become live unless transcluded to Wikipedia:Requests for adminship and current practice isn't to close them until that happens. I'll drop him a note about forums.--chaser - t 05:16, 19 October 2007 (UTC)

Message from GK's father

Hello.

I'm Green Kirby's father. I'm proud of the way he's embraced Wikipedia, and that he's writing as well as he can. Obviously, I'm concerned with outside influences affecting his judgement. We've all heard the horror stories. Can you say anything to ease my concern so that Green Kirby can continue to grow? He spends huge chunks of time on the internet.

Thanks.

Dad of Green Kirby. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Green Kirby (talkcontribs) 19:24, 22 October 2007 (UTC)

Hello, sir. I'm not certain what you're referring to, so if you could clarify your concern, I would appreciate it. Besides writing articles, my goal as a member of the Wikipedia community is to encourage contributors and resolve problems. Green Kirby has been getting some grief lately about using the site as a discussion forum, but I don't see why that would affect his judgment.
I should say that I'm not an official representative for the Wikimedia foundation. You can contact them here if you want.--chaser - t 00:16, 23 October 2007 (UTC)

Get GreenKirby under control

He came onto my user page and removed the userbox that states I'm gay and I wished I had a boyfriend; stating they "weren't necessary and that he didn't want other gay users to feel 'turned on'". I am very upset over this. I don't care if he's "just trying to help". He has offended me. Get him under control. -Sukecchi 10:19, 29 October 2007 (UTC)

I've blocked him until the article content to drama ratio improves.--chaser - t 10:42, 29 October 2007 (UTC)

Green Kirby #4

Hello, Chaser: So let me get this straight. My son deleted the unsoliceted sexual oriatation of one of your users, this user came crying to you, you've disciplened my son because, after all, this site is academic. Does anyone reaaly care who's gay and who isn't? There is nothing vague about what I'm requesting from you. If you want to mentor my son then so be it; but the silly little banter I've seen on these discussion pages make all of you seem like children. Let's see, do I need to tell you that I'm not gay? Is that important? Can the gay guy handle his own business or will you come to his defense each time. I think my sosn's actions regarding this idiot's site were apprpriate, since Wikipedia is not a forum to dance around declaring your sexual preference. Gee, makes you wonder what he doesn't reveal. Have a nice day. Dad of Green Kirby. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Green Kirby (talkcontribs) 23:17, 31 October 2007 (UTC)

Well, sir. It's more than that. It's the fact that your son came onto my user page (which is not an actual article people look to for information and edit) and removed items I put on there. He has no business editing my user page. That is my own page that I may put whatever I wish on it, as long as it is not overly offensive. I did not tell chaser to block your son. I asked chaser, as his mentor, to get him under control. That meant he could do anything, talk to him and explain why not to do that. No, he decided the best course of action would be to block him. We have all moved on, he has been unblocked, and I have wished your son luck in becoming a better editor. I suggest you do the same. Thank you and I hope you have a safe Halloween. -Sukecchi 23:49, 31 October 2007 (UTC)
That's sweet. Just so long as you're no longer offended. You can imagine the horror I feel knowing that my 13 year old son so offended and distraught a grown man. I so very proud and impressed that you've decided to move on. Rest assured, I'll speak with my son so that he no longer upsets anyone as much as he upset you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Green Kirby (talkcontribs) 00:13, 1 November 2007 (UTC)
His age has nothing to do with how I am offended. It's what he did. Why don't you understand that? -Sukecchi 02:22, 1 November 2007 (UTC)
"Unsolicited" sounds as if Sukecchi came to your son and told him he was gay. In fact, the relevant userbox sat in his userspace along with such uncontroversial personal information as his being male and what state he lives in. It's common on this site that editors declare facets of their individuality to build a sense of community that creates another incentive for us to be here and work on articles, just as workers everywhere chat around the water cooler and companies tolerate some slacking off as long as the work gets done. We have different standards on a volunteer site, but indicating someone declaring his sexual orientation will make others "feel turned on" is creation of unnecessary drama.--chaser - t 00:09, 1 November 2007 (UTC)
Oh, please. Indicating your sexual orientation to begin with is a creation of unnecesary drama. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Green Kirby (talkcontribs) 00:21, 1 November 2007 (UTC)
No, it's not. Tons of people have done it before me and nothing has happened. That box was on my page for a week before your son went and removed it. -Sukecchi 02:22, 1 November 2007 (UTC)

Sukecchi:

You are out of your league, and I'm about to yank my son from influences like you. "Tons of people" you say. In the first place, 'ton' is a measure of weight, not popuation. No one has a problem with your sexuality, we just don't want to read about it on Wikipedia, nor do we want to read how desperate you are for a boyfriend. Dude, get a my space page.

And for you, Chaser: you've become so involved with this site that you are losing touch with reality. Ask yourself what Wikipedia is about, then review your main man Sukecchi's home page. There are people that enjoy defacating on babies but it has nothing to do with Wikipedia. I believe both you and Sukecchi need to get out of the basement, get some freash air, and if you're as intelligent as you thing you are see the world. My wife and I just got back from China, what have the two of you been doing.

One more thing: Sukecchi, that your gay does not mean you cease to be a man. So suck it up and be a man. Men do not get "deeply offended" nor do we go to other men for help when a 13 year old is kicking our ass. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Green Kirby (talkcontribs) 15:10, 1 November 2007 (UTC)

You mentioned you were going to speak with your son. Have you done so yet?--chaser - t 15:30, 1 November 2007 (UTC)

Trust me, Mr. wants the world to know he's gay. I'm on him hte minute he gets home from school. I wish you no ill will, but my son was on the computor at 3:16 this morning. That won't fly. He is learning a lot from these on-line debates. Are you? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Green Kirby (talkcontribs) 15:34, 1 November 2007 (UTC)

Did you see this related message (the "Should I leave?" section)? I basically suggested a similar thing.--chaser - t 15:44, 1 November 2007 (UTC)

Sir, you most likely won't be able to respond right now, but lemme add my comment in. One of Wikipedia's most stressed rules for articles is a neutral point of view. Obviously you don't believe the gay people should be able to express theirselves on their own pages, but they choose to do it anyway. This has been common practice for almost all of Wikipedia users on their own user page, to put things they like and put what they are. If the person is gay, or if he defecates on babies like you said, let him be. If you don't agree with what the person is, then just ignore it. Just don't vandalise their page with your opinions. That is not providing a neutral point of view.

And if this looks like a jumbled block of words, it is 5:14 AM and I can't get back to sleep.Trevor "Tinkleheimer" Haworth 10:15, 2 November 2007 (UTC)

My god....Mr, you have to understand that we arent a babysitting service, if your son is on here at 3:16, thats your problem, not ours, we arent his parents. And the only one causing drama here is you, good day. Atomic Religione 13:21, 2 November 2007 (UTC)

Continued problems

This user continues to have issues. In my opinion the user warrents an indef block. Since you are his mentor, I leave it up to you. Rklawton 15:47, 1 November 2007 (UTC)

Hi Chaser, it looks like an open and shut case to me, but if you think there's more to do, then go ahead. I've unarchived the case. If you could clean the case up and remove irrelevant comments that might be really helpful, because in its current form the case looked like a bunch of Wikilawyering. --Akhilleus (talk) 18:24, 19 October 2007 (UTC)

Hi Chaser

I'm trying to build the article at user talk:joseane/Tristan Tondino. If you had a minute to look at it, you're opinion would be much appreciated.Joseane 00:08, 21 October 2007 (UTC)

When updating DYK...

Make sure that you post all templates to their respective pages, and add the articles to Wikipedia:Recent additions. You didn't do these step after updating, so this caused a bit of trouble. Just pointing it out for next time. Wizardman 15:30, 21 October 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for implementing the update, which is the most important task. There are various administrative tasks (adding talk page notification templates, archiving, updating the time template) but someone usually manages to clean up if they are left out. -- !! ?? 21:30, 21 October 2007 (UTC)

Review thread

Re [16]. I wouldn't bother blocking if I were you. Let him turn his anger wheels for a while and wear himself out. The evidence is strong. Objective observers see that. There's little use continuing to argue with a partisan who will never be convinced, but blocking him may be counterproductive.--chaser - t 07:43, 22 October 2007 (UTC)

Instead of blocking him i'd rather not answer him. He's clearly being disruptive and "more a Pope than the Pope himself" and this attitude against me has been noted since months now. But for the sake of ending this drama, i won't block him unless he doesn't take it seriously. -- FayssalF - Wiki me up® 07:54, 22 October 2007 (UTC)

Ettumanoor

  • I bring your attention towards ettumanoor. Is it ok giving all these info about 'Ettumanoor Mahadever temple' under Ettumanoor (all those info about temple is not correctly authenticated or no reference mentioned). I think it is good if someone make a separate article about that temple, if produce with proper reference.

--Avinesh Jose 08:02, 23 October 2007 (UTC)

See Category:Articles to be split for some guidelines on this. You don't have to ask my permission to split them. Be bold!--chaser - t 08:11, 23 October 2007 (UTC)

Dearest Supporter,

Thank you for your participation in my RFA, which closed unsuccessfully with 39 supports, 15 oppose, and 1 neutral. I would have liked to gain some experience of being an admin, but it wasn't to be. At least I gained some valuable time there and will use my knowledge picked up to my next candidacy. I would like to say once again, thank you for voting and I hope to see you at my next request be it a nomination or self-induced, I hope I don't get as many questions!

Sockpuppet ahoy

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/David_Q._Johnson This guy was noted by someone to be a sock on one of his handful of edits *he then stopped*, which was rather obvious in the context since he was created only to vote with someone on an AfD, then nothing else. I noted this on his userpage a while back, and he eventually returned to remove it, but not complain, etc. This makes me more certain still. I have since readded it. I am not sure what the procedure is, and maybe the evidence of his edits is not enough, but I guess tag him or something, or tell someone else to. He was particularly noted here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Erik_Eastaugh_%282nd_nomination%29 Cheers.JJJ999 02:19, 26 October 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, almost certainly. Any suspected sockpuppeteers? Future reports can go to Wikipedia:Suspected sock puppets, which is usually badly backlogged, but currently running smoothly.--chaser - t 05:54, 26 October 2007 (UTC)
Well you need a suspect to add the tag. See {{sockpuppet}}. There's no point chasing a suspected sockpuppet who has become inactive.--chaser - t 17:55, 26 October 2007 (UTC)
  • I meant get someone to keep an eye on him, don't you have a list of suspected socks for admins to get alerts or something when they post again?JJJ999 03:41, 27 October 2007 (UTC)

NYC meetup change of schedule

You've expressed an interest in the upcoming New York City Meetup for Saturday, November 3. I'd like to update you on an important change of schedule.

  • It's been agreed that we should have a 2-hour formal meeting period to start organizing meta:Wikimedia New York City, and this will be held at the Pacific Library (note this is different from the Brooklyn Central Library, which was discussed earlier) from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM.

This will be in addition to the previously scheduled roving activities at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden (this activity has also been cut short a bit) and at the Brooklyn Museum. For full details, see Wikipedia:Meetup/NYC. Ask any questions at Wikipedia talk:Meetup/NYC. Thank you.--Pharos 21:09, 26 October 2007 (UTC)

General questions

Hello! Do you have any feedback regarding this discussion: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Television series considered the greatest ever (2nd nomination). The one thing that struck me there was the impression that I ignored this discussion, when in fact, I thought my short, but polite replies on my talk page indicated that I read and acknowledged in a friendly manner the suggestion left there and then on the AfD linked to above I made three reasons as to why I thought the article should be kept: 1) the previous AfD was less than six months ago (yes, consensus can change, but I have seen other editors argue that some of these renominations are occuring too closely after old discussions; 2) the article has references and is therefore verifiable; and 3) the article satisfies the guideline Wikipedia:Lists by being coherently organized. Anyway, I was just curious of your thoughts if those seemed reasonable and if my replies were reasonable as well. On a positive note, I received another Barnstar today for my expansion and sourcing of the Armenian Genocide article! I hope all is well with you. Sincerely, --Le Grand Roi des CitrouillesTally-ho! 22:21, 27 October 2007 (UTC)

Okay, I see that you posted a comment on that discussion's talk page. Durova suggested in an email that I would be wiser to mention specific arguments in previous discussions in the case of renominations rather than just that it was kept and I made a practice post on her talk page if you also thought that this is more along the lines of how to use previous discussions. As always, I appreciate your time and effort and hope that I'll be able to get this down! I hope all is well with you! Sincerely, --Le Grand Roi des CitrouillesTally-ho! 03:49, 28 October 2007 (UTC)

Old reversion

Hi, I recently edited a article on El Al that you rightly unedited, I think you sent me the message "lol" im sorry I didnt reply, im new to wikipedia and didnt know how. I wasnt vandalising or anything I just thought the article was a farce, In my opinion there is a blatant misuse of the term humanitarian, there is nothing human about selectively helping people who are only in your caste or creed, I see that as racism. However I wasnt prepared to get into an online debate with Jewish "nationalists" over an article, having had previous experience of attempting that. Anyway I just wanted to clarify the reasons behind my scrupulous editing because I appreciate the good work you people do to clean such rubbish up. Keep it up! regards Dr S —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mokhs (talkcontribs) 23:44, 27 October 2007 (UTC)

I made my very first userbox and am passing it out. I won't be terribly offended if don't put it on your page. And if you want to make one for yourself, just create a subpage under your user page and just copy/paste the code from User:Tinkleheimer/RespectedByTinkleheimer.
