Hi, I wonder if you can help me, I took on board what you said regarding my draft article Skin the Peeler and I am in the process of rewriting it. The band recorded a television appearance which is only available on their youtube channel ( the BBC has not archived it, so it is the only record of it) I wanted to use it, but I don't know how to publish it in the article. I know there are no copywrite issues. Please could you advise the best way forward.
Thank you Ceri Aber (talk) 16:55, 11 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, I have just resubmitted my draft article Skin the Peeler in which I have followed your advice regarding the WP BAND criteria namely
!. subject of independent published work 2. released four albums 3. contains two members independently notable (William Henshaw and Rose Hull) 4 representatives of a city during the 1980's.
I hope this is enough to be able to publish the article. Thanks for your help.

Hi
Thanks for your comments. Regarding reliable independent source for the article, I have cited the Oxford University Press book by Colin Larkin (citation 1). I was initially advised also to highlight individual members of the band who had notable connections by snowman304. Regarding both Liam Henshall and Rose Hull, they were working in an individual capacity in these instances, so there is no mention of Skin the Peeler. The citations are to prove that they worked with other notable bands. I have provided proof that both of them played in Skin the Peeler. In the Discogs citations, Skin the Peeler albums are both listed in their credit sections.
I have found several instances of bands of this era (80’s) using Discogs in their Wikipedia citations ie The Blue Aeroplanes. What criteria do you use to decide when this is acceptable or not?
Re the Historical and Literary sources, it is highly unlikely that a band be mentioned in such sources. For example, Al Stewert is not mentioned in the historical sources that he cites. The intention of that reference was to link the tracks on the album named after these historical figures to existing sources.
The Cropredy citation is a listing (not coverage), and is included to prove that the band played there to 25,000 people.
Hope to hear from you soon. Thanks for your help. Ceri Aber (talk) 14:31, 20 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The book by Colin Larkin (citation 1) is a reliable independent source.
The content on Discogs is user-generated, without any independent editorial oversight, and for this reason it is not considered to be a reliable or acceptable source, particularly for the purposes of establishing notability.
In respect to the references for Liam Henshall and Rose Hull, they need to establish that these are the same individuals that performed as part of Skin the Peeler. As indicated Discogs is not a reliable independent secondary source.
It is not clear what the fRoots reference (citation 11) is stating - you need to provide a link to the actual article so the information can be verified.
The FClist reference (citation 6) confirms that they played 15th August but not that they performed to a crowd of 25,000. Noting that the FC List is also is user-generated, without any independent editorial oversight.
In respect to the historical and literary sources, you need to clearly, through reliable independent sources, establish that the work of the band was inspired by Terry Barter’s study of Celtic Folklore. What is missing is evidence linking these works to tracks on the album - otherwise it is just your conjecture that this is the case.
With supporting references much of the information in the draft is original research (i.e. "Finding they both shared a love of Irish Traditional music they began playing together.", "By 1989 they had enough original material to release the 8 track album ‘Facing The Sun’, recorded at Horizon West Studio in Weston Super Mare, which introduced them to a more folk/roots oriented audience.", and "The Peeler's first headlining gig was at Yesterdays in Bristol in 1984 which was the debut of their first album 'Skin the Peeler'.").
Also, you need to remove much of the subjective promotional tone (i.e. "This highly successful line up" and "This highly productive year"), as this is a potential encyclopaedic article not a fan page.
Hope that this clarifies my earlier comments. Dan arndt (talk) 07:23, 21 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
