Have you heard the third ash album? (thats the kindest thing I can to say about the second). Anyway: Irish funk. Takes a few listens to get it, but trust me, dat shit is down, and very of here, boys. Its a very small secene in IRL, and did quite a few mushrooms mid 90s with thoes men; even though they are from Dublin (that fucking place can burn to the ground for all I care; Cork will rise from the ashes....yeah). Mushrooms and H. Bosch

Cas and Ceoil: the section I was gonna reply in has been rudely archived, but I came back to tell you that after a thorough search of The Garden of Earthly Delights' left panel—that is, a high-res JPEG depiction purloined from Vandalay's Art Industries and displayed on my new 1080p TV (a Christmas present to myself)—I can tell you that there are no fly agarics to be found. Might your reliable source (cough--yeah, literally) have been confusing this mushroom with the numerous strawberries with whitish seeds in that painting? I would like to look at the other Bosch you mentioned, Cas, but I can't find it under the title you used (though I didn't try very hard, and worse yet that title is now gone forever to the archives). Dead end... I'm not clear on the difference between The Haywain Triptych and the above. I found a slightly different Hawywain Triptych than the Wikipedia image, and anyway using that as a proxy for Paradise and Hell (if it really is a separate but largely duplicate work)... does not turn up a mushroom in the left panel! Case closed - which you will be saying much more often I hear... congratulations! (And sorry for the vague comments above. The reliable source comment was based my notion that you said you got this info from Erowid. Art Vandalay Industries was a company made up by George or Kramer on a Seinfeld episode. Your country's monarch wrote an interesting little piece for The New York Times[3] (it's a famous publication over here). At first I wasn't quite sure where he was going, but he wraps it up nicely. The Raft of the Medusa

Hi Ceoil. Thank you for the note. She was a lovely model, from France. The picture is four feet high, and painted all in one session. I will keep an eye out for this, although as in the case of Friedrich, my at-hand resources for Gericault are limited, so I don't think I will bring much to the table in terms of content. I've just been looking around on ARTstor, and they have over twenty different preparatory drawings and oil sketches for the Raft of the Medusa, several contemporary lithographs not by Gericault illustrating the incident, an engraving that has a diagram of the raft, and an extremely high resolution version of the painting itself... I've taken all the drawings by screen capture and will upload them to commons soon, but it will take me longer to zoom in on the painting, take scores of screen captures, and then piece them back together.... Thanks Ceoil. Here's one of my favorite Christmas carols for you.[4] Not so well known, on this side of the Atlantic at least. (I searched Youtube high and low for a version that was choral, didn't mess with the harmony, and had the right tempo. I learned of it from this album, which has the best choir but you have to deal with the silly sound effects. I get goosebumps from the deep, a capella moment at 2:35.)

I'd like to pretend there was some good academic reason for my preference, but really it boils down to which historical period I'd like to wear the clothes of. Hi Ceoil, strange goings on at The Garden of Earthly Delights and 2 other Bosch ptgs..The Wayfarer and The Seven Deadly Sins and the Four Last Things, the same editor: Sayerslle (talk · contribs) also using at least 12 separate IPs (from the UK) is adding similar material from a book by Lynda Harris - The Secret Heresy of Hieronymus Bosch to all three articles..you might watchlist Bosch, see what developes...I'm a little puzzled..but I expect there is more to come...Modernist (talk) 00:35, 2 January 2009 (UTC)

I noticed the edit at the Garden, too, and followed Modernist's trail to find a handful of articles on Bosch paintings that had been written so as to consist almost completely of Ms. Harris' interpretations. I dont rate Corgan as a guitarist. I like pavement and pavement era Blur type music, and I rate the guy in the fall circa Hex Enduction Hour (maybe a better album than loveless, astral weeks or the quuen is dead). I like striped and pare guitar lines, non invasive, and I espically like when the bass and guitar lines are basically locked into the same figure. Hate to be mr Fall here, but one of the great things about MES is he doesnt take any shit from musicians, look at the sparce astetic here.[24] Albini goes for the same thing in shellac and fair play to him.[25]. Magic Mushrooms

Concerning this edit: Having widely read on Nick Drake, I've never come across any proof, or indeed informed, published speculation, that the mushrooms Drake was holding were "magic". Obviously is was the late sixties and all but isn't it far more likely that the mushrooms were just picked on-the-fly in the photoshoot rather than being prepared especially for the shot? If they were picked during the photoshoot it's quite likely that they aren't "magic mushrooms" given the fact that it takes knowledge of suitable growing spots and a very keen eye to distinguish them from poisonous/ordinary varieties. If it's common knowledge then why does neither the main Drake literature nor the wide world of internet published journalism seem to say anything about it? Demoiselles and Arnolfini

The writing of the Arnolfini one is a bit stilted. I'm quite surprised that Hockey and Whatsit are credited with the theory that van Eyck might have used lenses, camera obscura and so on. That's been around for 45 years that I know of! Actually, that mirror on the back wall is a bit of a give away.

Anyway, I wouldn't mind sticking my oar in. I don't know how you have the endurance to weather the FA procedure! Look at all your gold stars! Amandajm (talk) 09:58, 15 February 2009 (UTC)

Funny you should say about camera obscura, my father has a very good eye, and his taste is par none, but he thinks art history is, ahem, "bollocks", although I notice his favoutire sky channel is the Arts channel, and it was he who turned me on to Francis Bacon, and if you push him he'll admit his favourite artist was Lucian Freud up until Lucian Freud painted the Queen (not very cool for Irish).

My point however is that though he has seen maybe five or six Vermeer's now (we have one in Dublin!) in his half knowlege and dotage he still says -can't do the accent- "jasus like you know it was all done with string, mirrrors and camera obscura!". I really hate to tell you this, Ceoil, but I can't get a higher resolution image of Oviri, even if ARTstor happens to have one. In fact, the existing photo of Oviri cannot be used except under fair use. While the sculpture itself is in the public domain, the wikimedia foundation has decided that PDART does not apply to photographs of three dimensional works of art because "copyright subsists in the photograph by virtue of artistic choices available to the photographer such as framing and point of view".[46] I wish it weren't the case, but it is...

I'm not sure that they will allow you to use copyrighted images on the main page, either... You can always get it in as a second hook or lower down; the article is certainly good enough to go on DYK, pic or no. Really sorry about this, again. Lithoderm 22:05, 27 February 2009 (UTC)

Well, there's a photo of Gaugin's tomb with the sculpture on it here, at Flickr. You can always try to blather its creator into changing the copyright tag to creative commons... I had some luck with that at the Sacred Cod of Massachusetts. They're usually more than happy to see their work on Wikipedia. No, because the tools I use only find hidden problems (such as duplicate ref names, duplicate ref content [reasons not for direct-opposition to the article]). For example, it includes the unsourced sentence - "Laughing Stock crystallised the experimental sound the band started with Spirit of Eden (which has been retroactively categorised as "post-rock" by some critics)."
