User talk:Ceoil/Archive 18
If you protest you block summary, you will be be blocked for 37 hours by a friend of the blocking vandal fighter. Thats my warning anyway: having fun with other content editors is bad business, and not to be encouraged.
Bye, ex-'Prick' - Paul (Ceoil)
- Ceoil, I feel a bit ill about this. It's decidedly my fault that this happened, it really is, and if you leave because of it, I'll be nearly despondent. Look, you know, all joking aside, you're a better editor than myself, and this will be a huge mistake if we don't get this fixed. I'm going to see if I can do anything to get that block lifted. --JayHenry (talk) 20:16, 18 October 2008 (UTC)
- Nothing to do with you Jay, relax. Ceoil sláinte 23:30, 18 October 2008 (UTC)
- Ceoil, seriously, what do you expect from the AN/I clowns? Driving off the best content contributors is one of the few things they can be relied upon to do consistently, whether they realize it or not. And, to add insult to injury, they nixed your beautiful lard poster. Well, kids like you and me can't afford to be offended by the Philistines that run this place--lower your expectations for admin behavior/justice/judgment all that, and laugh it off. That's what the TFM does. Come back when you're ready, cuz it wouldn't be the same w/o you.--The Fat Man Who Never Came Back (talk) 22:18, 18 October 2008 (UTC)
- This dispute must have caused some spooky parapsychological phenomenon, as a few seconds after alerting me I got error messages for half an hour...how shall I interpret this...spooky, anyway, yer unblocked again. So....calm blue ocean, calm blue ocean (repeat 10 times). Cheers, Casliber (talk · contribs) 22:25, 18 October 2008 (UTC)
Wha happen? WesleyDodds (talk) 23:19, 18 October 2008 (UTC)
- Trigger happy admins jumping in on myself and Jay sparing. Fine but look at my block record. Apparently, I'm a 'prick' now. News to me! I hadnt thought that.[1]. Some post punk links would be appreciated! Ceoil sláinte 23:29, 18 October 2008 (UTC)
- Welcome back :-) Hey. Like I said at yannis' page, canary in the coal mine. AN and AN/I are badly misfiring lately. Something needs to be done when the fallout from that page is bleeding out and affecting so many content contributors. The last time I reported an issue on a noticeboard, and then watched it deteriorate beyond all repair because of precipitous admin action, I decided never again. When I have an issue that needs attention now, I go straight to the talk page of a mature admin. Well, Ceoil ... I don't know what to say except you and The Fat Man make me want to have a block log just to be in good company. At the rate they're going through content contributors, I'll probably get my wish fulfilled before long. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 23:48, 18 October 2008 (UTC)
- Sandy that's hardly a fair comment, and an illogical fallacy. He wasn't blocked for being a "content contributor", he was blocked for making what appeared to be nasty comments to another editor. He then went and made the pretend nasty comments real ones when he was blocked. Content contributions isn't a pass for lack of civility. -- How do you turn this on (talk) 01:16, 19 October 2008 (UTC)

- What happened to Yannis is decidely more scary and far more worring. But these career admins? Jeez. No clue, no integrity, no interest in content....they could be syst ops at baloon factory for as far as they could care. Eeek. Anyway, onwards. Ceoil sláinte 23:53, 18 October 2008 (UTC)
- Some people enjoy adding content, some people like the feeling of power they get from those buttons, I 'spose. Some can do both, and some do one because they can't do the other. What are we going to do about getting Yanni back? Marskell is going to lose his shorts when he wakes up in his time zone and sees that he may have lost half of FAR in a few days :-) SandyGeorgia (Talk) 23:58, 18 October 2008 (UTC)
- I dont know. Loosing Yannis is not something I want to think about, frankly. His ANI/I treatments was a disgrace and he was characterised there as the complete opposite of what he stands for and represents. Fair enough I'm hot headed and dramatic, but Yannis? Ceoil sláinte 00:14, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
- I know. People made assumptions, made decisions, done deal before anyone could weigh in. ANI is causing too much collateral damage. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 00:17, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
- I think you hit the nail on the head with "done deal" there. What a shame, we all depend on each other, and I depend on Yannis more than most. He is always a rock when it comes to pre-FAC review. Ceoil sláinte 00:26, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
- I wonder if any of the editors of Greek topics know Yanni; maybe I can ping Niki or Francis. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 01:01, 19 October 2008 (UTC)

Not sure if I'm missing anything here, but no one called you a prick at any time. Your block log simply quotes words you called JayHenry. It doesn't say "Ceoil is a prick". -- How do you turn this on (talk) 01:12, 19 October 2008 (UTC)

Thank you, Ceoil. PS- the Sweden image is functioning. GoodDay (talk) 00:27, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
- Nice; thanks man. Ceoil sláinte 00:31, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
I didn't do anything to it. It fixed itself. GoodDay (talk) 00:35, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
- Amazing already! GoodDay, even when you dont deserve it; always take credit for everything you can grab. You fixed the pic - and thats it. Ceoil sláinte 00:40, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
I simply don't know how I did it. Okie Dokie. GoodDay (talk) 00:41, 19 October 2008 (UTC)

- [citation needed] But yeah. Ceoil sláinte 00:28, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
- By the way, rememeber to take a look at "Paranoid Android". The guys over there need a second opinion before shipping it off to FAC. WesleyDodds (talk) 00:34, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah, I'm watching it. Its very good; very hopeful for this one. Ceoil sláinte 00:36, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
To cheer you up: videos of ten of the best alt-rock/"indie" songs from the eighties:
- R.E.M. - "Harborcoat"
- The Replacements - "Bastards of Young"
- Camper Van Beethoven - "Take the Skinheads Bowling"
- The Stone Roses - "She Bangs the Drums"
- The Cure - "In-Between Days"
- The Pixies - "Monkey Gone to Heaven"
- Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds - "The Mercy Seat"
- Husker Du - "Could You Be The One?"
- Dinosaur Jr - "Freak Scene"
- The La's - "There She Goes"
Rememeber, ten of the best, not the ten best, just in case you feel like bitching later. WesleyDodds (talk) 02:17, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
- By the way, I expect you to reciprocate. WesleyDodds (talk) 04:10, 19 October 2008 (UTC)

History of Limerick
[edit]Back in September, just after the FAR, I asked you if you would be prepared to do some work on History of Limerick because you indicated that you could get a hold of the Spellissy book which I cannot acquire or borrow. Cheers ww2censor (talk) 01:30, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
I was about to block you indef for your latest comment there. However, robust though discussion gets, and that tempers fray, I resiled from that on the basis of your contributions and your support from The Fat Man..., for whom I have great respect. Nevertheless, I feel that blatant escalation, even in the face of provocation isn't helpful. Having said that, I'm also aware from experience that Irish insults are often not what they appear; my fear is that others won't be so informed. At least you're not Noel O'Gara. --Rodhullandemu 01:31, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
- Whatever, dude. Ceoil sláinte 01:33, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
- In a similar light to Rodhullandemu's comment, I have to add that your post block comments on AN are not helping your cause. You are clearly upset and rightfully so. But continuing to attack other users, again calling Tan a prick and fucker, will only give another admin another reason to place another block. Please, for your sake, step away. - auburnpilot talk 01:34, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
- See, it the language of " post block comments" is the problem. Did I do something wrong? There I got caught in an edit conflict replying to Rodhullandemu's words; I wanted to say along the lines of phew! at least I'm not Noel O'Gara ;). Thats all I have to say about his post. If any admin has fault with my description of Tan a prick and fucker, or a problem with my calling him on descring me as a "prick", welcome aboard [2]. Block at will. Ceoil sláinte 01:42, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
- My cause? Please. You are categorising me there. Ceoil sláinte 01:46, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
Hey
[edit]I left messages for NikoSilver and Francis Tyers, inquiring whether they know Yanni (they are the closest I know to editors who may be in contact with him). I also just left a message to HDYTTO (who needs a a more manageable username) asking him to please disengage from the AN thread, as he appears to be rubbing salt in your wounds. Hey, man, please don't let it get to you again; disengaging from AN now would probably be a good idea. I rather imagine Marskell will have something to say on all this mess when his time zone rolls around, but it's time to let others defend you. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 01:33, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
- Ceoil, I'm sorry if you felt I was "rubbing salt in". I'm on your side here completely, believe it or not. I just... wish people could be a little more civil at times (this isn't directly talking at you, just in general). This place has such a negative atmosphere at times it's unbelievable. Anyway, I hope you aren't too affected by this unfortunate misunderstanding. I've never come across you before, but I hope we meet again soon sometime. Best wishes, -- How do you turn this on (talk) 01:36, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
- Thats fine, and thanks, and the point is over hased now anyway. Would you mind closing the AN/I tread, so we can get on with our lives. Ceoil sláinte 03:18, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
- Done. It's a shame our first meeting was in such unpleasant circumstances, don't you think? Anyway, I really need to sleep now. Best wishes, -- How do you turn this on (talk) 03:21, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
- Me too. 'Night. Ceoil sláinte 03:23, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
Blocked, again

[edit]Sending you best wishes from across the ocean, with fond memories of our work on Velazquez and Goya. Cheers, JNW (talk) 02:25, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
- JNW, could you watchlist and over see Caspar David Friedrich. Myself, Liz, Whiskey and Modernist are tackling; would really apprciate your input. Ceoil sláinte 02:32, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
- I will be happy to take a look. If I can contribute anything, I will. JNW (talk) 02:55, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
- I hadn't planned in calling the "heavys" so soon, but of course your eye is always welcome. You and Johnbod always take articles 'way' above what I am capable of. Ceoil sláinte 03:41, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
- On this matter we can trade compliments with ease. So far I'm making minor edits--I think the article is great. And thanks for asking for my input. I've been spending way too much time expunging vandalism from articles on high schools, and it's good tonic to read a well crafted piece. JNW (talk) 04:11, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
- Lets just do it so. Ceoil sláinte 04:21, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
I owe you...
[edit]...basically whatever task you request. Help with an article, some other project, a girl, whatever... if I have to order some obscurish art book and sent it to Ireland I'll do it. Seriously too. Look, not to get all corny or whatever, but this has been the first time something on the project really upset me and it's mostly because of how much admiration I have for your work. --JayHenry (talk) 06:15, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
- Flowers would be nice; but really you owe me nothing and please dont feel guilty, it happened, and it was not at all you fault. Ceoil sláinte 11:44, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
- Simple Jay, work up one of his other articles most-worked-on to FA...oh sod, all ten already are (!) Cheers, Casliber (talk · contribs) 12:28, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
- Or you might prefer to laugh at this. Either way, god sake Jay man, dont worry, at the end of the all this stuff is just a side show, and you are one of the finest writers on ecomimics and good crack. Ceoil sláinte 12:42, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
Warning
[edit]In light of recent events I am considering blocking you. Why? Because instead of "talk" beside your username you have the ridiculous "sláinte." Is this Irish? My great-grandparents were Irish, but I speak English, like the rest of the world. I don't know what "sláinte" means, but I'm going to assume that it means "Jimbo Wales is a prick." As you are aware, insulting Mr. Wales leads to site bans or, if your person can be physically secured, to execution. Thus you should consider a mere block to be fortunate. The only reason I have not yet blocked you is that I'm desperately hungover and can't find the block button. But consider yourself warned. Marskell (talk) 08:18, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
I believe your Irish claim because you admitted to being "desperately hungover", a career risk for us Irish. However I dont buy you "can't find the block button" claim - is it you dont have the stones? Either way thanks for posting, Marskell, very much appreciated. Ceoil sláinte 12:57, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
Warning: I intend to block you, since you've become such a high-quality editor that you're a threat to some of my jerk-off friends. Tony (talk) 09:48, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
Shit, I need to think of how to top this . . . WesleyDodds (talk) 09:53, 19 October 2008 (UTC) You cant say "shit" any more, wesley - Admins cant parce it. Take it back, or deal with Tony's wrath. Ceoil sláinte 13:56, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
