Welcome to Wikipedia. Your account has been blocked from editing because your username gives the impression that the account represents a group, club, organization, company, product, department, or website. Your username is the principal reason for the block. You are welcome to continue editing after you have chosen a new username that complies with Wikipedia's username policy.

You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable, regardless of the username that you choose. Additionally, if your contributions to Wikipedia form all or part of work for which you are, or expect to be, paid or compensated in any way, you must disclose who is paying you to edit here. You may also read our FAQ for article subjects.

Please take a moment to either create a new account, or request a username change to this account.
  • To create a new account with a different username, simply log out of this account and then click here to make a new one.
  • If you prefer to change the username of this account, you may do so by adding the following text to the bottom of your user talk page (this page): {{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.

Important items to note:

  • The new username that you choose must represent you as an individual person, and it must comply with Wikipedia's username policy.
  • The new username you choose cannot already be taken and used by another account. You can search here to see if the username you'd like to choose is available. If the search returns, "There is no global account for [username]", that means it is available.
  • Please also note that you are permitted to use a username that contains the name of a company or organization if it also identifies you individually, such as "Sara Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87", but not "SEO Manager at XYZ Company".

Appeals: If your username does not represent a group, organization, department, website, or other entity described above, and if you believe that this block was incorrect or made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the following text to the bottom of your user talk page (this page): {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}

Thank you. 331dot (talk) 15:16, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Accept reason:

I assume you didn't intend to have the words "new username" as part of your new username, so I removed them from your request(as was supposed to happen, but it's all good now). I have renamed you and will remove the block. If you intend to edit about your organization, you must read conflict of interest and make the Terms of Use-required paid editing disclosure. Please ask if you have any questions. 331dot (talk) 15:32, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

As previously advised, your edits, such as the edit you made to Draft:The Centre for Army Leadership, give the impression you have a financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. You were asked to cease editing until you responded by either stating that you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits, or by complying with the mandatory requirements under the Wikimedia Terms of Use that you disclose your employer, client and affiliation. Again, you can post such a disclosure on your user page at User:Rose Russell at The CAL, and the template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Rose Russell at The CAL|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. Please respond before making any other edits to Wikipedia. jlwoodwa (talk) 19:01, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I'll also note that you are claiming to have personally created the logo of your organization and personally own the copyright to it. 331dot (talk) 19:04, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

hi 331dot, thank you for all your help with the creation of the page and the unblock etc. -it is much appreciated. I am just wondering if you can help. Heres a bit of back story!
I am employed by the British army, and work in the Centre for Army Leadership, I am paid by the British Army to work in the CAL. This wiki page as discussed earlier is now my personal one to use to edit.
My job is to run the social media channels, and support with the production of research doctrine and publications. I have read through the conflict of interest info etc you provided earlier, and whilst I do not have a COI in terms of bias, I obviously am paid to create the article so understand it needs the disclaimer at the top. I believe it needs to look something like:
  • "John Smith (talk · contribs) has been paid by PR Firm on behalf of ACME. Declaration"
  • "Rose Russell at the CAL has been paid by the British Army on behalf of the Centre for Army Leadership " (like this?)
please could you assist me in the creation/locating of this code so i can edit the page, along with providing any other tips you may have from your lengthy career as an admin.
also- further to your comments earlier ref the logo and the copyright, it was created by myself and one of my colleagues on canva, we made it from scratch, where I uploaded it I simply dragged the PNG across from my desktop-much like the pictures in the article that I took on my own phone.
I really appreciate your support- I am sure you can understand that I am not trained in editing/copyright, more soldiering- hence the small errors on my behalf!
Thanks once again :) Rose Russell at The CAL (talk) 21:25, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
If you created the logo yourself, then it is not the logo of the organization, and it may not be used in an article. —C.Fred (talk) 21:27, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
hi Fred, I created the logo myself , that represents the organisation, and is used all over all our channels cohesively as part of our branding, media and publications, so therefore is the logo of the centre for army leadership. please advise me if this is wrong. thanks! Rose Russell at The CAL (talk) 21:29, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
If you created it as part of your official duties, it is not your creation; the intellectual property belongs to your employer (which would make it Crown property, correct?).
If you recreated what you created at work, then it's still copyright infringement. —C.Fred (talk) 21:33, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
hi fred. thanks for this, really helpful. what would be the next steps around this then? i need to use the logo as part of the page. Ultimately (up a long chain of people) the IPR belongs to the defence IPR team, which belongs to the minister of defence for the united kingdom. however the logo belongs to the centre of army leadership- as it was created by the CAL. i believe no crown copyright as the kings cipher etc is not present in this logo? Rose Russell at The CAL (talk) 21:37, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Images are not relevant to the draft submission process, which only considers the text and sources. You can worry about the logo later, when and if the draft is accepted. 331dot (talk) 22:16, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
thanks dot, much appreciated. in terms of my end, the page is ready for upload etc. (unless you have any useful points!) please can you advise me (if possible!) on what to do ref the logo situation- as ideally i would like to submit the draft now.
