Rahul Dravid's picture
[edit]You cannot use that either. It comes from http://www.indiadaily.com/editorial/06-06b-04.asp and is copyrighted unless the site specifically says that it is in the public domain.
The restriction for pictures is a very frustrating thing, but we have no choice here. Tintin 18:11, 31 October 2005 (UTC)
- The pic copyright rule is why most of the present day cricketers have no images in their articles. Yeah, it is a major nuisance and short of taking a photo yourself, there is little chance of getting a valid picture. Tintin 22:38, 31 October 2005 (UTC)
- I don't know what exactly it is for India. User:Nichalp would be the person to ask. For Australia, everything since 1955 is in the public domain, for USA it is slightly longer.
- For magazine and book covers there is an exception. They can be added with the tag 'bookcover' as in [1], but they can be used in the article only if it is 'relevant'. ie, if there is a section in the Dravid article about his biography, you can put the book cover beside it, but you cannot put any random Sportstar cover in the article. New userboxes
[edit]I have deleted a userbox template you recently created, as userboxes should no longer be created in templatespace per the terms of the German userbox solution. Here is the userbox code so that you can recreate the userbox in your userspace ("userfying") if you wish.
<div style="float: left; border:solid orange 1px; margin: 1px;"> {| cellspacing="0" style="width: 238px; background: ivory;" | style="width: 45px; height: 45px; background: ivory; text-align: center" | [[Image:Charminar Hyderabad.jpg|35px]] | style="font-size: 8.25pt; padding: 4pt; line-height: 1.25em; text-align: left" | This user hails from '''[[Hyderabad, India]]''' |}</div><noinclude> </noinclude>

Hello!
[edit]Hey! :-)
My name is Noopur. I edit English Wikipedia and I work with the Wikimedia Foundation. I will be visiting Hyderabad soon and was pleasantly surprised to see that there are more than 20 active editors in Hyderabad! I thought it would be really nice to get together and meet you once. I was hoping to discuss some issues on WP:India and to know what topics you edit on. Also, have you met other Wikipedians before? It would be a great inspiration to meet a long term Wikipedian :-)
Please reply on my talk page or you can e-mail me at nraval@wikimedia.org Cheers! Noopur28 (talk) 08:07, 29 June 2012 (UTC)
Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. New deal for page patrollers
[edit]Hi Cdinesh,
In order to better control the quality of new pages, keep out the spam, and welcome the genuine newbies, the current system we introduced in 2011 is being updated and improved. The documentation and tutorials have also been revised and given a facelift. Most importantly a new user group New Page Reviewer has been created.
Under the new rule, you may find that you are temporarily unable to mark new pages as reviewed. However, this is nothing to worry about - most current experienced patrollers are being accorded the the new right without the need to apply, and if you have significant previous experience of patrolling new pages, we strongly encourage you to apply for the new right as soon as possible - we need all the help we can get, and we are now providing a dynamic, supportive environment for your work.
Find out more about this exiting new user right now at New Page Reviewers and be sure to read the new tutorial before applying. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 04:29, 13 November 2016 (UTC)
