Thanks for uploading File:Super Sailfish MK-II c1966.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

I think the article is substantially better. Others may agree or disagree. Now I have two suggestions for you.

First your username. It is likely to get you blocked as being a promotional username. May I suggest that you change it (there is a process to do so, but I do not know what it is). You need to be here as an individual, unassociated with the boats you love in terms of the username. I suggest you place {{helpme}} here in a new section and ask as follows:

I have joined with an unwise username. I would like to change it to a more personal one because I perceive there is scope for misunderstanding with the current one

Second, I suggest you go through the article and flatten it wherever a superlative exists. It's always worth doing that to comply with the required style here. Fiddle Faddle (talk) 18:26, 31 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I will attempt to follow your advice. Thanks for all your guidance.
Sailfish&Sunfish (talk) 20:25, 7 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
It is unusual for an edit summary to be the reverse of the edit actuality. You suggested that you had removed some superlatives. Instead you added them back. I wonder if you would care to offer an insight into this? Fiddle Faddle (talk)
Not intentionally trying to go against your advice. I guess in my editing naiveté I am confusing attempting to explain a unique attribute with over emphasis. I'm not trying to argue the point. I see your perspective as well.Sailfish&Sunfish (talk) 22:28, 7 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
One may state that an attribute is unique (if one can cite that), but one may not praise it to the heavens for its uniqueness. This is an encyclopaedia, not a brochure. That is the point. IN a brochure one may be enthusiastic and praise a feature. In an encyclopaedia one may only state that the feature is present. See WP:NPOV Fiddle Faddle (talk) 23:48, 7 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I see your point and you lend perspective for the general reader's perception. I was thinking about it from a U.S. dinghy sailor's view point. I moderate groups for 6 sailboats and advise 4 more, around 10,000 members in all. The comment arises yearly about first time sailing and the Sunfish, due to it's simplicity, is cited above all other boats. That commentary, I must agree, is not expressible objectively in an encyclopedic article. It was just a matter of grasping a different perspective for myself so thank you once again for your guidance.
I put in a request for a username change at WP:Username Change. Thanks for the heads-up on that as well. Sailfish&Sunfish (talk) 00:36, 8 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
As you are noticing, writing for an encyclopaedia is a very precise skill. It requires that we unlearn every last scrap of creative writing. Good move on the user name change. Sooner or later the old one would have got you blocked. Fiddle Faddle (talk) 12:13, 8 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, the form and style does take a bit of getting used to. Glad to have some guidance with specifics. Thanks again, Sailfish&Sunfish (talk) 16:08, 8 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, and the username change has already taken place. Cayeway (talk) 16:17, 8 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sailfish Parts

[edit]

Im looking for a Centerboard, and a rudder for my fiberglass sailfish. my hull, and sail are ok. would like to teach grand kids to sail. Does anyone know where i can find these things. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.68.163.125 (talk) 23:39, 8 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia isn't really the place for a chat about parts resources. At the bottom of the article is a list of External Links where you will have better success locating what you need. Observation - try the last listing, they appear to be associated with a majority of the historical references. Best of luck Cayeway (talk) 05:06, 10 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
