NPP

Hi @Cassiopeia,

I trust you are well and having a nice rest this holiday period. You recently set up the NPP Program for me and unfortunately, I have not been able to begin the training due to a lack of clarity

I was hoping to receive a link/sub-page, to begin with after setting it up for me. I thought I was not seeing the training page because of my use of a smartphone and decided to use my PC with the same issue. If there is a Special or dedicated page to begin the training kindly refer me to the link.

Is it worth it changing his pro and amateur MMA record (which conflict with Sherdog), but have additional citations for his fights? I've never come across someone with fights that weren't recorded by Sherdog... Nswix (talk) 17:25, 28 December 2022 (UTC)

Nswix Good day. There do have some info that is slightly different for some fighters; howedver, based on Wikipedia MMA guidelines, we use Sherdog as the default for all MMA fight records and for the infobox info. Any info that can not be derived from Sherdog for the infobox, we can add the info as per independent, reliable source such as rank, university info, teacher/coachers etc. Happy Holiday, have fun and be always safe. Backlog

The October drive reduced the backlog from 9,700 to an amazing 0! Congratulations to WaddlesJP13 who led with 2084 points. See this page for further details. The queue is steadily rising again and is approaching 2,000. It would be great if <2,000 were the “new normal”. Please continue to help out even if it's only for a few or even one patrol a day.

2022 Awards

Onel5969 won the 2022 cup for 28,302 article reviews last year - that's an average of nearly 80/day. There was one Gold Award (5000+ reviews), 11 Silver (2000+), 28 Iron (360+) and 39 more for the 100+ barnstar. Rosguill led again for the 4th year by clearing 49,294 redirects. For the full details see the Awards page and the Hall of Fame. Congratulations everyone!

Minimum deletion time: The previous WP:NPP guideline was to wait 15 minutes before tagging for deletion (including draftification and WP:BLAR). Due to complaints, a consensus decided to raise the time to 1 hour. To illustrate this, very new pages in the feed are now highlighted in red. (As always, this is not applicable to attack pages, copyvios, vandalism, etc.)

New draftify script: In response to feedback from AFC, the The Move to Draft script now provides a choice of set messages that also link the creator to a new, friendly explanation page. The script also warns reviewers if the creator is probably still developing the article. The former script is no longer maintained. Please edit your edit your common.js or vector.js file from User:Evad37/MoveToDraft.js to User:MPGuy2824/MoveToDraft.js

Redirects: Some of our redirect reviewers have reduced their activity and the backlog is up to 9,000+ (two months deep). If you are interested in this distinctly different task and need any help, see this guide, this checklist, and spend some time at WP:RFD.

Discussions with the WMF The PageTriage open letter signed by 444 users is bearing fruit. The Growth Team has assigned some software engineers to work on PageTriage, the software that powers the NewPagesFeed and the Page Curation toolbar. WMF has submitted dozens of patches in the last few weeks to modernize PageTriage's code, which will make it easier to write patches in the future. This work is helpful but is not very visible to the end user. For patches visible to the end user, volunteers such as Novem Linguae and MPGuy2824 have been writing patches for bug reports and feature requests. The Growth Team also had a video conference with the NPP coordinators to discuss revamping the landing pages that new users see.

ADCC Submission Fighting World Championship

This page page is too big and its not easy to read. I think we need to split it into several new pages. But I'm not sure what's the best way to do it. At least the very least, details of ADCC events should have their own page. I'm thinking of either creating a page for each one or alternatively we have a single page to contain all the details. I'm also thinking regional championships should have their own page. This is a world championship page after all not a regional one. IBJFF events for regions have their own page.

Any thoughts?

Imcdc Good day and thank you for the discussion. ADCC Submission Fighting World Championship is not a long article. However we even we would like to split the "evets from the ADCC page is would be not advisable at this stage as for a page/article to be merit on the Wikipedia mainspace, the subject needs to be notable under Wikipedia guidiens which means the subject needs to be have significate coverage from independent, reliable sources such as from the newspapers and books in dept and in lenght and not only passing mention. Any sources associated with the subject, ADCC, can NOT be used to contribute to the notability guidelines requirements. All unsourced info (all the results in the table) could be deleted due to not sources provide to support the claim for verification which is the core policy of Wikipedia. Latest tech news from the Wikimedia technical community. Please tell other users about these changes. Not all changes will affect you. Translations are available.

Recent changes

  • You can use tags to filter edits in the recent changes feed or on your watchlist. You can now use tags to filter out edits you don't want to see. Previously you could only use tags to focus on the edits with those tags. [1]
  • Special:WhatLinksHere shows all pages that link to a specific page. There is now a prototype for how to sort those pages alphabetically. You can see the discussion in the Phabricator ticket.
  • You can now use the thanks function on your watchlist and the user contribution page. [2]
  • A wiki page can be moved to give it a new name. You can now get a dropdown menu with common reasons when you move a page. This is so you don't have to write the explanation every time. [3]
  • Matrix is a chat tool. You can now use matrix: to create Matrix links on wiki pages. [4]
  • You can filter out translations when you look at the recent changes on multilingual wikis. This didn't hide translation pages. You can now also hide subpages which are translation pages. [5]

Changes later this week

  • Realtime preview for wikitext is a tool which lets editors preview the page when they edit wikitext. It will be enabled for all users of the 2010 wikitext editor. You will find it in the editor toolbar.
  • Some wikis will be in read-only for a few minutes because of a switch of their main database. It will be performed on 10 January at 07:00 UTC (targeted wikis) and on 12 January at 07:00 UTC (targeted wikis).
  • The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 10 January. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 11 January. It will be on all wikis from 12 January (calendar).

Frist of all, all article needs to pass Wikipedia Notability guideliens which means the subject of the article needs to have significant coverage from the independent, reliable sources such as from the major newspapers or books and the sources need to talk about the subject in length and in dept and not passing mentioned. His talent started to be seen in 2014 when he was young and most popular at his primary school.     • Lexicographical data: When linking to a Sense in a statement the language of the Lexeme for that Sense is now also shown. This makes it easier to understand translation statements for example (phab:T207392)
    • Constraints: Constraint violations are now also shown to logged out users (phab:T272132)
    • Fixing a regression where Wikipedia and co are no longer notified about a disconnected sitelink when the Item that contains the sitelink is deleted (phab:T326082)
