Welcome from me too!
[edit]Hi Caroline. I see someone beat me to it with that gargantuan welcome message. Anyhow, in a slightly more quiet and tasteful way... welcome to Wikipedia! I've written some advice for past students in your class at Longy which you might find helpful. You'll find it here. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page (User talk:Voceditenore), or place {{helpme}} here on your talk page, ask your question, and another editor will come along to help. You might also be interested in WikiProject Classical music, WikiProject Composers, and WikiProject Opera. They have various guidelines for articles in this area and talk pages where you can ask advice from editors experienced in writing articles on classical music and related subjects. You'll find these guides particularly useful: WikiProject Composers: Guide to online research and WikiProject Composers: Copyright guidelines. The Teahouse
[edit]Hi. Me again. I wanted to let you know about another resource for beginners—Wikipedia's Teahouse. It's a place providing great support for new editors. You can ask questions (no question is too basic) and get helpful answers and advice from experienced editors. Best wishes, Voceditenore (talk) 17:52, 25 March 2014 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of MetroWest Opera
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on MetroWest Opera requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 21:20, 24 April 2014 (UTC)
- Hello Caroline. I have removed the Speedy deletion request (added 20 minutes after the article's creation), as there is a slight possibility that this article could be sufficiently improved to establish notability. I have replaced the request with one for Proposed deletion (PROD) to give you time (7 days) to improve the article. At the moment, this article relies on primary sources, articles based on press-releases, and a blog post which makes it highly unlikely to survive an Articles for deletion discussion (AFD). You can remove the PROD tag at any time, but if it is removed without significant improvement to the referencing, the article will be taken to AFD. You may find it helpful to read my tips to Longy students about referencing and notability here and here. In the meantime, I have copy-edited the article and formatted the references.
