Your submission at Articles for creation: Arthur Nelson Jr. (August 1)

Your recent article submission to Articles for Creation has been reviewed! Unfortunately, it has not been accepted at this time. The reason left by ReaderofthePack was:

This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of people). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia.

I'm torn about this. On one hand, the coverage here is fairly light and would only have this very weakly pass NBIO. On the other, I know how difficult it can be to find sourcing for people who died hundreds of years ago - the fact that there is this much sourcing that mentions Nelson Jr (and not just Nelson Sr.) is a good sign that he's likely notable.

I'm going to very reluctantly decline this. My rationale here is that while Nelson Jr is mentioned in the sourcing, it's on the lighter side and often in relation to his father, who has meatier coverage in the sourcing. I tried seeing if I could find sourcing and there just wasn't much out there. You may want to try looking at your state library to see if they can help finding coverage of the family (as opposed to just primary sourcing).

I think that a better solution would be to make a family page, as even when the sourcing mentions Nelson Sr, they do tend to discuss his descendants. A family page could include sections on Nelson Sr, his children, and so on. It could be somewhat like the articles like Mars family, Smiths of Glastonbury, and some of the others listed at Category:American_families. I do think that Nelson Jr should have some mention on Wikipedia, I just don't know that the current sourcing is enough. Let me know if you need any help with this.
