Help me!

[edit]

Please help me with... I was wondering how long I typically have to wait for a user name change to take effect. Capt. Tightpants (talk) 17:43, 11 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Usually within a couple of days, if there are no problems. I don't see any username change request from you yet: to make one, go to WP:Changing username, read to the bottom of that page, click on "Simple" and follow the instructions. After you have made the request, check WP:CHU/S from time to time to see if any problems have been flagged that might mean you have to change the request. Sorry about the rollback!

[edit]

I made a big mistake; I was only trying to view edit history on xkcd. I have reverted my changes, it should be fixed. It's all my fault! Leave a message on my talk page if I didn't do anything correctly. HackedBotato (talk) 12:32, 12 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks!

[edit]

Okay, it looks like you reverted the revert correctly. Thanks for fixing it! Cap'n Tightpants (talk) 14:02, 12 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Help me!

[edit]

Please help me with... I am having trouble italicizing my words. I followed the instructions on the cheat sheet, but I must be doing something wrong as it is not working. Thanks! Cap'n Tightpants (talk) 17:44, 5 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

You need to use the apostrophe character ' twice before and after to produce italics, or three times for bold. So typing
This is ''italic'' and this is '''bold''' type.
produces
This is italic and this is bold type.
If you still have trouble, type something below here that you think should produce italic but doesn't. JohnCD (talk) 17:54, 5 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

A kitten for you!

[edit]

You seem like good peeplz! I want to encourage and assist you in any way that I can, in the process of finding your place in Wikipedia. It's daunting to learn everything ... or, it's daunting to ignore everything except the one thing you want to start getting good at. Sometimes it's more about learning what to not do. If I can help you find a place, or plug into a system, please let me know. Are you a reader and researcher? Are you just a fan? What are your interests or what do you wish you could do? I encourage everyone to start reading WP:5, focusing on WP:NPOV and WP:RS.
