Image Commons vs Upload (ex-helpme)

[edit]

I'd like to use images from a non-English version of wikipedia, licensed GFDL, and with clumsy names. Should I try to upload them to Commons (no experience with that), or should I simply re-upload them in the English version, with meaningful names? I got lost in the help pages. --Cameltrader 23:35, 31 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please try your question at Wikipedia help desk. I am sorry for the delay. Wikipedia:Help desk Thanks —— Eagle (ask me for help) 23:57, 31 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'll ask where you say, thanks for paying attention. --Cameltrader 00:09, 1 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Най-добре е в Общомедия според мен, няма значение какви са имената (ако имаш предвид че са на кирилица с това "clumsy"). Същото е, а ще могат да ги ползват и от други проекти. Поздрави, TodorBozhinov 12:45, 1 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'll go for Commons, but later... I didn't mean cyrillic by clumsy. The names were something like IMG1234.JPG. --Cameltrader 15:35, 1 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Здравей!

[edit]

TodorBozhinov 12:51, 1 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Zdrasti Todor, ... (Moved to Talk:Rousse.)

Could you please add (if possible) some kind of parameter fixing the width of the coat of arms to, say, 90 or 100? Some coat of arms images are simply too big and stretch the infobox too much. Thanks in advance, TodorBozhinov 21:00, 8 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, I think I figured it out myself :) Sorry TodorBozhinov 21:03, 8 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
135 px is a bit too much, I think. But there's a problem already — images smaller than the given size are resized by the software and they look ugly. I checked how the Romanian template is done... does that "#if" thing make it check if it's not smaller before resizing?

TodorBozhinov 21:11, 8 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Doesn't seem to work... we need a code that would resize to 105px only the images that are larger than that, and leave the smaller ones the way they are. Any ideas how we can do this? TodorBozhinov 21:16, 8 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yep, SVG is the best we can get... some day. I came up with an idea — maybe we can include a size parameter so the users would choose whether to resize the coat of arms and how much? I think that would solve the problem. TodorBozhinov 21:26, 8 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Vangelia

[edit]

In Greek, that name would be Βαγγελία. It is short for Ευαγγελία Evangelia and "Herald of the Blessed Word" is a likely interpretation of it. It is from ev (good) + angelos (messenger or herald) - this is where the word angel comes from. The Gospel is Ευαγγέλιο Evangelio in Greek, and literally means Good Announcement - if you consider the Gospel the "Blessed Word", then it can mean "Herald of the Blessed Word" ;-) --Telex 10:57, 11 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! I see you've recently created and expanded the article Belote (Bulgaria). Do you know whether it is a different game from the one played in France, and briefly described at Belote? The rules seem very similar, and the fact that you use French names (belote, tierce, coinchée) leads me to believe that it is only one game. I've proposed to merge Belote (Bulgaria) into Belote. Unless you oppose, I'll do the merge early next week. Thanks, Pruneautalk 09:20, 12 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Bulgaria lead

[edit]

Hi. I didn't remove 681 because it was wrong, but because the general phrasing was quite misleading. To call Bulgaria one of the most ancient countries of Europe, requires at least a source; as there certainly wasn't institutional continuity (Byzantine and Ottoman dominations, splittings). Instead the lead gives the idea of a continuity; and as for the name, also this requires a source, because it must awnser to WP:V. The only thing that can be said is that in 681 the Bulgars (not the Bulgarians) founded the first Bulgarian state.--Aldux 14:55, 21 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Well, they don't contain a month and a day, so they shouldn't be linked. It's up to you to decide whether you'd write it BC or BCE, the manual of style simply says "no periods" (e.g. no B.C.E. or B.C.). And by the way, also note "Do not use abbreviations like "Feb" unless space is precious in a table, infobox, or the like." I see you sometimes use these. TodorBozhinov 17:42, 21 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Balkh and "byal"

[edit]

I know it's a sourced edit, but I don't think it has anything to do with the reality. Basically, "byal" and its derivatives is a word met in all Slavic languages and its frequent presence in toponyms is not in any way unique to Bulgaria and its medieval borders. Here's some: Bjelovar, Biograd na Moru (bio is bel in the local vernacular), Beli Manastir (all in Croatia), more than 10 in the little Slovenia (List of cities, towns, and villages in Slovenia/B), Bijeljina (Bosnia and Herzegovina), Bílina and another dozen (Czech Republic), Belgorod, Belovo, Beloretsk, Belogorsk and probably a hundred more (Russia), etc., etc. That said, I'm removing it. TodorBozhinov 23:11, 31 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I noticed it refers to the neighbouring area too. But the examples from Croatia, Slovenia, the Czech Republic and so on prove that "byal" and its forms are very popular in placenames all around Slavic Europe. It's just one of the many theories and I don't think it deserves a mention in such an article. TodorBozhinov 10:31, 1 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Largo

[edit]

Well, that's how the complex is known, The Largo (see here, for example). I don't know of any other largos in Sofia, but even if there are, this is the one. What exactly are your concerns about the name and what do you think should be corrected or changed? TodorBozhinov 10:40, 30 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Museum

[edit]

Hi! Would you be OK with moving History Museum, Rousse to Rousse Regional Historical Museum like the Pleven and Plovdiv museums are currently named? Generally museum websites seem to be a complete mess, so it looks like unfortunately *we* have to suggest a standard name. TodorBozhinov 15:16, 8 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Dunno... it sounds allright to me. "Historical museum" has 3,610,000 Google hits, while "history museum" has 10,200,000, but the latter also includes wordings like "Natural History Museum", "Women's History Museum", "Computer History Museum", which apparently aren't the same thing as simply "history museum". The situation in List of museums is also quite the same. Aniway, if we're to change the name, we should change all so as to have some sort of standard. TodorBozhinov 15:36, 8 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Historymuseum.org... cool :) I'm being bold and moving it — after all we can always move it back or to a different name if we find appropriate. Thanks for sharing your thoughts! TodorBozhinov 16:02, 8 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! Today I've nominated the article Ivan Alexander of Bulgaria for a featured article, believing it meets all criteria.

This is the article's third nomination (see the previous ones), and because the previous ones received relatively little attention, I'd like to invite you to voice your opinion about it, be it as a vote or a comment, on the article's nomination page.

Thanks! :) TodorBozhinov 16:56, 20 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've tried that before with no result: see Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Bulgaria. I'm still going to leave a note though, who knows :) TodorBozhinov 18:08, 20 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You've done a great clean-up job! Thanks a lot :) By the way, could you make a transparent background version of the "You're Not Alone" SVG ribbon, I'd like to use it in a more specific way than the black background allows me to :) Thanks in advance! TodorBozhinov 12:02, 22 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Aaand... thanks again :) Hope my page looks fine that way. TodorBozhinov 18:01, 22 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Congrats to you too... after all, it's a great thing for every Bulgarian editor! TodorBozhinov 11:40, 31 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Shorthand

[edit]

Hi, I just saw your (not only?) article about Bezenshek system in Bulgaria. And I realized there is a mistake in my site: "As a result, the 1923 version of Bezenšek-Gabelsberger remained official until the National Shorthand Institute was shut down in Democratic Bulgaria." I mean that Bezenshek used Gabelsberger's system from 1823 but really I wrote 9 instead of 8... There are 3 reforms in our shorthand, can remember the dates - about 190?, 194?, and 197? I have to check this, but the last reform is "active". Which is infact almost the same as this from 194?. Thanx for this article! I don't have time to redesign my site yet... —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Stenograf (talkcontribs) 20:44, 27 January 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Family tree

[edit]

Marvellous work as always! I've included it in the article and it does a great job to improve it further. Only one minor thing, is there a way to make those numbers assigned to the children go just a bit further to the right, because they're somewhat too close to the lines now. And... thanks again :) TodorBozhinov 20:11, 31 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I tested it in IE and it's largely OK, hide/show works fine, as does everything else... TodorBozhinov 20:26, 31 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Nikola Obretenov.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Nikola Obretenov.jpg. The image description page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Another family tree request

[edit]

Hi there! Could you please adapt the Ivan Alexander family tree for my Simeon the Great article? I tried to do it myself, but I couldn't cope with the formatting of the children.

You should include:

  • his parents (Boris I and Maria)
  • his siblings Vladimir Rasate, Gabriel (Gavril), Jacob (Jakov), Eupraxia (Evpraksija) and Anna
  • his children
    • from his first marriage (1) to unknown: Michael (Mihail)
    • from the second marriage (2) to the unnamed daughter of George Sursuvul: Peter (successor), Ivan and Benjamin (Venjamin, aka Bajan)
    • undetermined marriage (?): daughters

Thanks in advance! TodorBozhinov 18:10, 10 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yep, I've thought about it. Sursuvul shouldn't be displayed separately, but should be mentioned when referring to Simeon's second wife, (e.g. "2 Daughter of George Sursuvul"). As for the daughters, they would just be a separate branch called "Daughters", with a question mark above instead of a number. TodorBozhinov 19:23, 10 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, you've done a great job as always! I've already moved the article to the main namespace, and I've included the family tree. I have a few minor requests, though: could you move the line leading to Simeon exactly under the one leading down from Boris and Maria, and the same for the one leading to Peter and the one from Simeon? Also, could you move "daughter of George Sursuvul" to the right side of Simeon (I've removed 3, because it makes people think there was a third marriage), so that we could have some sort of balance? This means "unknown wife" may approximately take the place of "daughter...". The whole thing seems to work well in IE, by the way. TodorBozhinov 21:26, 10 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I was thinking there should be a template, but I couldn't find it :) Wife numbers wouldn't look too good in another way, so I still prefer the top version (using tables), but could you move the whole children level to the left so that Peter (and not Ivan) is right under Simeon? Thanks! TodorBozhinov 09:34, 11 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry for the delayed response, I was without Internet connection for a day. The family tree looks great now, I don't think I have anything more to complain about :) Great job and thanks again! TodorBozhinov 09:39, 12 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hi! Sorry to bother you yet again, but could you move Jakov to the right of Simeon and Ivan to the right of Peter, per the suggestion of Ian Mladjov? It may cost that balance we have now, but it would indicate that Simeon was older than Jakov and Peter was older than Ivan. Thanks! TodorBozhinov 19:24, 13 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yep, that's what I wanted, thanks again :) As for Ian Mladjov, he is an historian and instructor at the University of Michigan that I communicate with via e-mail. He helped me a lot to tackle some problems with the article when older sources may well have mislead me, and suggested this change. TodorBozhinov 19:54, 13 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Timeline

[edit]

Hi! I've added a timeline to the Simeon I article, but I used the one in the Hannibal article as an example and as a result I couldn't make it go from 860 (top) to 930 (bottom), and it goes inverted (as with BC dates). Could you help? The timeline is at {{Simeon I of Bulgaria timeline}}. TodorBozhinov 16:19, 9 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, don't bother, I found it at Help:EasyTimeline syntax. I had to specify the order as reverse in TimeAxis :) It's OK now. TodorBozhinov 19:24, 9 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I saw it done that way with Hannibal and decided to evade the inclusion of more code within the two articles. It really doesn't matter that much and I haven't thought about it really... TodorBozhinov 19:38, 10 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Geez... it's a bit late, but even if I'd known about it earlier, I don't think I would've been able to come. You can leave a not at WP:BG if you like, but it really is a bit late for people outside Sofia. I might be able to come to the summer meeting, though... we'll see. TodorBozhinov 19:17, 12 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Transliteration

[edit]

Let's face it — the new transliteration system is a total mess. I don't know what that tradition they're talking about is, and the way they're transliterating ъ is the silliest of all possible. I fully support scientific transliteration, and my logic is that if there is no "plain" (diacritic-free) Latin sign for ъ, then we should use a diacritic for it. And if we use a diacritic for it, then we should use diacritics for other letters that are otherwise represented with two Latin characters. Scientific transliteration is not perfect, yes, but it's easily back and forth convertible, unlike the official system. Still, we often have to stick to it with all its flaws. Yeah, I know you ain't a Tatar, that's why I don't have ANY respect for you (no offence), I know you are a mixture of a few shitty tribes. Though, I have great respect for the Tatars (nowadays too, e.g. the ppl of Tatarstan, Chuvashia, etc.), but not for the so called bulgarians who fight for a cause with false basis. I mean, I fight for my national cause, while you fight for the daily-changing cause of your bulgarian state. :O But, I'm not angry at you, you are not guilty for the brain-washing politics of your "state" and I'm pretty self-confident and optimistic because I have THE TRUTH on my side (ahh, I always say that:D) ;). And if this world worked properly, wikipedia would have been free of your forgeries, e.g. Jane Sandanski was one of the greatest Macedonians and fought against the bulgarian propaganda, BUT on the wikipedia article, there is a "QUOTE" (lol) where he mentions "free bulgarian Macedonia"... I mean, C'M ON! Do YOU belive in that nonsense? EVEN IF he were a bulgarian, could he say THAT in 1915? :O And, besides, let's say he DID say that (which he didn't), can you bring proof? ANY? No? Thank you.

Miscellaneous

[edit]

Hi. I do not consider sockpuppetry and using open proxies to edit while blocked good-faith behaviour. This is harmful to Wikipedia and practically dissuades me from discussing anything with such users. I've already spent enough time disputing with his previous incarnation (see e.g. Talk:List of cities in Bulgaria) a year ago, and I know it's useless. I'd like to avoid his series of personal attacks and I'm trying not be involved in that "Stara Zagora is so ubercool" campaign which is being waged all over the Bulgarian Internet. What he only wants is to fill the Stara Zagora article with blatant POV and misleading information. And Wikipedia is not the place for that. You can check the Bulgarian Wikipedia talk page of bg:Стара Загора (mostly its archives) to see what happens when you discuss with that person (who tends to use a lot of accounts).

He doesn't care about the other cities and their pollution — his goal at the moment is the removal of the perfectly true bit about the pollution in Stara Zagora, and intends to do this by forking my sentence about the pollution and putting it everywhere he can, with misleading and fragmentary sources. What he'd like to see is Wikipedia presenting Stara Zagora as the most prosperous, biggest, cleanest and most attractive city in Bulgaria, which as you well know is not true and will not be the case at least in the foreseeable future. What we have to do is simply prevent that, because it's against the principles of Wikipedia... as are sockpuppetry and open proxies. TodorBozhinov 20:01, 5 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I can't block him, I'm not an admin :) I'm not wishing that he gets blocked, what I want is to prevent any further violations, one way or another. I'm a bit pessimistic about convincing him not to continue, because he clearly follows an agenda, but you can try.
P.S. About the all-in-one script: I can't get it to appear in my preferences, you know of a possible cause? TodorBozhinov 20:50, 5 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Here's a nice bit of evidence that User:Groser = User:Хаха. On my page, he puts {{sockpuppet}} templates claiming that I'm a sockpuppet of FunkyFly and Tekleni (I'm a sockpuppet of two people? OK :)). If you see the history of the Stara Zagora article, FunkyFly has never had anything to do with Groser. He has only reverted Хаха, and that's where our puppeteer knows about him from. WikiProject Bulgaria

This is a reminder that I have changed the license of Image:Advisor-js-screenshot.png since it contains the Wikipedia Logo and is a screenshot of Wikipedia. I would suggest cutting out the logo in your image. --EoL talk 23:30, 25 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Screenshots of Wikipedia must be licensed under GFDL since the software is licensed under GPL and the text is licensed under GFDL from what I've heard. The screenshot is copyrighted if it contains the Wikipedia logo. I'm assuming that no, you cannot dual license it. --EoL talk 00:21, 27 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I notice that this once-proposed logo is currently GFDL-licensed so might conceivably be used instead of the normal one (if it's license tag is not a mistake). EdJohnston (talk) 02:33, 27 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Another option would be to retake the Advisor screenshot after horizontal scrolling so that the Wikipedia logo is off the page to the left. EdJohnston (talk) 13:30, 27 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I suppose my best choice now is to revoke my original CC-BY. Unless revocation is possible, I can take another screenshot, slightly differing from the original one, and license it GFDL and CC-BY-SA. Please tell me if you think I am thus violating anything. --Cameltrader (talk) 16:13, 27 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The problem is that the logo is WP's 'stamp of approval', which they use to identify the real Wikipedia, as opposed to the mirrors. They don't want the stamp of approval to be easily copied to other sites, and that's why the Foundation places a normal (closed) copyright on it. Since the Foundation never transferred its copyright on the logo to you, you can't authorize it to be distributed any further. EdJohnston (talk) 16:29, 27 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Do you mean the logo is not under the GFDL? --Cameltrader (talk) 16:34, 27 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Argh, ok, it's not GFDL... --Cameltrader (talk) 16:37, 27 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Controversial typographical decisions inside Advisor.js

[edit]

Advisor.js takes a controversial position on m-dash typography, failing to use either acceptable condition, of flush (no-spacing) or hair spacing. Please consider undoing this "work" that has been done. Fifelfoo (talk) 05:02, 13 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Template

[edit]

Поздрави, --Gligan (talk) 12:34, 18 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Suggestion for advisor.js: punctuation after a ref tag

[edit]

Your tool is excellent. As an addition could you add in a new advisor looking for </ref> immediately followed by a ".", "?" or "!" (period, question mark or exclamation point). If so move the punctuation mark to immediately before the <ref>.

Example: Change

A rose is usually colored red<ref>Encyclopedia of roses</ref>.

to

A rose is usually colored red.<ref>Encyclopedia of roses</ref>

This request would be in accordance with WP:REFPUNCT.: -- KelleyCook (talk) 17:20, 22 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Suggestion for advisor.js: fix malformed breaks

"not"

[edit]

For some odd reason Advisor.js took the word NOT from an otherwise entirely uppercase sentence and replaced it with "not". Also wondering why it needlessly strips spaces from section headers but I expect that is just the preferred style of the author. -- Horkana (talk) 01:13, 4 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Also wondering why Advisor.js needlessly strips spaces from section headers. According to MOS:HEAD: Spaces between the equal signs and the heading text are optional, and will not affect the way the heading is displayed. Boghog (talk) 08:08, 7 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
It's for consistency reasons. All headers can either be spaced or unspaced, but preferably not mixed up. Advisor changes the format of all headers to a format prevailing on the page. If there are more unspaced headers, it removes spaces from the spaced ones and vice versa.—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); July 8, 2013; 12:16 (UTC)
WP:MOS also states that
Where more than one style is acceptable, editors should not change an
article from one of those styles to another without a substantial reason.
I don't feel that consistency within an article for something that doesn't affect the page rendering is a "substantial reason". These little fiddly changes increase editor workload with no benefit to WP that I can see. Jeh (talk) 21:41, 28 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Well, it's not the Advisor's intent for editors to make edits that consist entirely of insignificant changes. It's an auxiliary tool to employ when an edit needs to be made anyway, and if edits consisting entirely of "fiddly changes" is your concern, you may want to direct your sight to WP:AWB. The number of edits coming from there which solely add/remove a blank line, add/remove some spaces (including around headers), and do other things in direct contradiction of Rule #4 is simply maddening... Advisor, like any automated tool, can be misused, sure, but considering its meager user base, I don't believe it's much of a problem.—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); October 29, 2013; 13:43 (UTC)

Invitation to events: bot, template, and Gadget makers wanted

[edit]

I thought you might want to know about some upcoming events where you can learn more about MediaWiki customization and development, extending functionality with JavaScript, the future of ResourceLoader and Gadgets, the new Lua templating system, how to best use the web API for bots, and various upcoming features and changes. We'd love to have power users, bot maintainers and writers, and template makers at these events so we can all learn from each other and chat about what needs doing.

Check out the the Berlin hackathon in June, the developers' days preceding Wikimania in July in Washington, DC, and our other events.

You can register now for the Berlin event and if you need financial help or visa help, just mention that in the registration form.

Best wishes! - Sumana Harihareswara, Wikimedia Foundation's Volunteer Development Coordinator. Please reply on my talk page, here or at mediawiki.org. Sumana Harihareswara, Wikimedia Foundation Volunteer Development Coordinator 13:48, 2 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

HELP

Please tell me how to insert spaces into an article. I would like to do this especially between sentences to make the articles more readable. I tried to do this on the editing pages but it doesn't seem to work. Jodosma (talk) 21:25, 28 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Coat of Arms of Varna

[edit]

Hello! I wanted to let you know that we've received a few requests through WP:OTRS regarding the existence of a coat of arms for the city of Varna. As I see you've created most of the other coat of arms for the cities listed here, I thought I'd let you know there's quite the demand for it =) Awesome work on all those files by the way! §FreeRangeFrogcroak 17:01, 6 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Advisor.js and en/em dashes

[edit]

Hello there! May I suggest that you modify Advisor.js so it uses {{snd}} template while cleaning up en dashes? In a similar way, {{mdashb}} template should be used for em dashes. Hope you agree. — Dsimic (talk | contribs) 14:00, 17 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Q regarding advisor.js

[edit]

Whenever somebody runs this script on my articles, it removes the buffer whitespace from citations and templates. Can you please remove this behaviour? Otherwise I just undo edits people do using this script, since it is against policy to arbitrarily change non-visual elements arbitrarily. Could you please adjust this so only whitespace outside of template brackets is removed? thanks. - Floydian τ ¢ 23:26, 1 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

This user hasn't edited since 2008 and is unlikely to return this message. I don't have the expertise to modify the script myself, but would like to point out that it is the operators who should exercise care when using it. It was never the intent to operate this script in automatic mode. Each and every edit made with this script is the responsibility of the editor making the edit, so if the script is being misused, reverts and warnings might very well be in order. Best,—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); October 2, 2014; 11:50 (UTC)
Cool, thanks for the heads up. - Floydian τ ¢ 04:38, 3 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Invitation to discuss on Wikipedia:Naming conventions (Cyrillic)

[edit]

Hello! As there is already an only proposed Wikipedia guideline on naming conventions (Cyrillic). The proposal is still in development, under discussion and needs of gathering consensus for adoption. Since I am well experienced on this subject, I would like to criticize the official transliteration of Bulgarian as it gives too many errors, which also causes some losses of sounds “ǎ (a hacek”), decentralise itself from other slavic languages (“c” and “š” voices), which is also conflicting in itself (see street signs 1 and 2). By this revision, it is away from being accurate and not able to satisfy the needs of an encyclopedia which claims to be scientifical. These are the reasons I invite you to read Scientific transliteration of Cyrillic and involve the discussion in order to contribute a possible concensus. Wish to see you here thanks Manaviko (talk) 13:27, 5 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
