Your VandalProof Application

[edit]

Dear CWY2190,

Thank you for applying for VandalProof! (VP). As you may know, VP is a very powerful program, and in fact the just released 1.3 version has even more power. Because of this we must uphold strict protocols before approving a new applicant. Regretfully, I have chosen to decline your application at this time. The reason for this is that Your edit count is too low. Please note it is nothing personal by any means, and we certainly welcome you to apply again soon. Thank you for your interest in VandalProof. Welcome to VandalProof!

[edit]

Thank you for your interest in VandalProof, CWY2190! You have now been added to the list of authorized users, so if you haven't already, simply download and install VandalProof from our main page. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me or any other moderator, or you can post a message on the discussion page. Prodego talk 23:06, 10 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry, but I am not able to handle anything but the most simple tech problems, as I do not have access to the source code, and even then I would not be able to understand it. Please contact the developer of VP AmiDaniel instead. Thanks, Prodego talk 01:40, 11 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

VandalProof

[edit]

Hey man, I'm doing RC patrol at the same moment you are, and we are both reverting people and double tagging them with warnings. LOL. I'm going to go and take out my warnings on those people so they don't get hit with "double jeopardy". Hobbeslover talk/contribs 05:17, 11 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

VP question

[edit]

Hi...I noticed you posted a question on the VandalProof discussion regarding:

Run-time error '91': Object varible or With Block varible not set.

I am having the same problem and was wondering if you were able to figure it out. Thanks! MetsFan76 16:48, 11 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Yeah it is really annoying. I haven't posted anything on the discussion page so I guess it was someone else. When I use VP, I get the error message and then the program closes even if I didn't click on another link. MetsFan76 17:06, 11 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Problems with WP:Baseball

[edit]

I noticed you brought me up on a problem with a game log. If you take a look here, here and here then you'll see what the issue is about. If you take a look here, I brought the issue up simpy because this isn't worth getting into a revert war. This user blatenly violates ban that was put on him. As you can see IP Address 81.211.198.6 was reverting my edit only to oppose me. Kingjeff 03:56, 10 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I really don't care if it's Minnesota or Twins. It's the redunduncy of the links that I don't like. Kingjeff 18:19, 10 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Seeking community input re standardizing baseball roster pages

[edit]

Hi ... I'm leaving you this note because you recently made edits to one of the Major League Baseball roster pages. I've made a proposal for standardizing the format, structure and content of these pages here and would appreciate your input so that we may reach a consensus. Thanks. --Sanfranman59 05:59, 23 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

2007 Pacific hurricane season

[edit]

Please don't create the section like you did, and instead follow the standard/precedent set in previous years with new storms. I'm in the midst of updating the article to what it should be, so your edits conflicted me. Have a look at the final result, then follow it next time. Most importantly, we don't use {{infobox hurricane small}} until the storm dissipates, and the wording should be more in-depth. Cheers. – Chacor 02:51, 27 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, just on more thing, per WP:MOSNUM, all converted values should be the same precision as the original. As the NHC gives values to 5 kt, all conversions should round to 5 too. Thanks. – Chacor 01:24, 28 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
One more thing, always upload the high-resolution versions of images. This is regarding the forecast graphic. – Chacor 02:27, 29 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the welcome!

Thank you, CWY2190! Actually, I'm a regular editor on Wikipedia (User:Kungming2), and I'm not logged in because I'm not on my regular computer. Keep up the great work! :D 69.107.78.169 05:40, 3 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

2007 Pacific typhoon season

[edit]

Just a friendly reminder: when updating the current storm information, update all the information, not just the storm's current classification. The article stated that Man-yi was a 70-knot severe tropical storm (which is impossible) for several hours. --Coredesat 05:01, 15 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Images

[edit]

In the future please upload ALL FREE images to Wikimedia Commons. Also, please crop out the ugly NRL headers and give the images useful names (rather than "20070716.2030.goes11.x.vis1km high.06ECOSME.65kts-987mb-143N-1309W.100pc.jpg"). Chacor 00:31, 17 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

EPac storms

[edit]

Please don't use the WPac current storm info paragraph for the Eastern Pacific. There's no need to say "the NHC reports" - the NHC is the only warning center we use for the EPac. In the EPac the standard is as per U.S. - miles and mph before km and km/h, unlike in WPac where km/h is listed first. Chacor 02:41, 22 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

K, thanks. I was actually looking at the TWO archives and writing up the storm history for the paragraph when I realised the NHC had issued its first advisory and knew that I would end up getting edit-conflicted. Chacor 02:43, 22 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Cosme

[edit]

Anything else to do with Cosme now all goes in the WPac article. If it regenerates into TS 0705 it should be named Cosme by the JMA. Chacor 01:08, 25 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

2007 PHS

[edit]

Thanks for updating Dalila's section, good try! I've made some minor fixes (spelling, spaces, links in refs etc) to it. Chacor 03:10, 28 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, please be more careful when updating sensitive information like current storm information. 8 pm PDT is 0300 UTC, and you totally forgot to update latitude and longitude in the paragraph. Chacor 09:42, 11 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

2007 PTS

[edit]

In the timeline, please log all JTWC actions at issuance time (03/09/15/21) instead of operational time (00/06/12/18), like we do for PHS and AHS with the NHC. Also, remember the bullet point. Thanks. Chacor 04:14, 4 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, an agrement HAD been reached with Chacor (if you look at the relevant discussions) Others came in and then he reneged. I've been having problems with Wikipedia. I keep getting warnings about pages I've never been to. I'm not quite sure how to use Wikipedia yet. As far as adding a song to Keyshia Cole's Album page( which was the ONLY page I've been to on my warnings list). She sings it on her current tour and that was the name of it. 2007-08 Gophers hockey

[edit]

My plan is to slowly build towards a college ice hockey wikiproject, similar to the one for college football (Wikipedia:WikiProject College football). The plan was to start with a small number of team season pages, like the WCHA, and go from there. I have noticed that there are a few team specific pages that have been started recently (Notre Dame, Michigan State). I think that a 2007-08 NCAA Division I college ice hockey season page would be a good place to organize things, and hopefully encourage others to get involved. Most of my work so far has been modeled after the college football project, so something similar their season pages would be a good starting point. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Gopherbone (talkcontribs) 03:56, 13 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have put mention on the "In the News" section but with old death toll numbers, as no source has the 11 death toll (which is based on combining all sources). Once a final death toll comes, I agree it should go to the main page. Importance should increase to Mid at 20 deaths and High at 40 deaths. CrazyC83 (talk) 04:07, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Find the Radio at Radio Shack, the lights at Wal*Mart. Try to find a battery, especially after you get hit by a tornado, other disaster. Blue Ridge Parkway tunnels

[edit]

Thanks for completing the elaborate TABLE for me. Blue Ridge Parkway tunnels is a new article and I have submitted it as a self-nominated DYK today. If you see anything else for improvements, feel free to edit it. Lately some of my articles have been selected as DYKs: Moses H. Cone Memorial Park and Flat Top Manor and Moses H. Cone and Folk Art Center. I recently wrote articles on Julian Price and Julian Price Memorial Park and Blue Ridge Music Center.--Doug talk 14:35, 8 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

FYI, Blue Ridge Parkway tunnels just became a DYK. I'm sure your elaborate TABLE you did for me contributed a lot to this. Thank you! Also Julian Price and Julian Price Memorial Park have been selected for DYKs. Recently I started the article on Michigan logging wheels and did a ten-fold improvement on the Cone sisters - both I also submitted as self nominated DYKs. If you see any improvements that should be made, feel free to edit these. Thanks again for your help.--Doug talk 22:50, 14 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Michigan logging wheels and the Cone sisters were selected as DYKs. I recently expanded Cone Mills Corporation ten-fold and submitted for a possible DYK. If you have time, look it over for any tweaks. Thanks.--Doug talk 14:21, 20 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your RfA

[edit]

Hello CWY2190, I sorry to say that I've just closed your RfA as consensus not reached with (53/18/7). This is a borderline case so I examined the opposition and neutral opinions closely and concluded that, while you had relatively strong support, there was a general belief that your level of experience was quite high enough. While you had 53 supports, you had 25 people who didn't support so I felt that, at this moment in time, you're not quite ready. However, I would strongly encourage to you re-read the RfA and work on those areas which caused the concern, and re-apply in the not-too-distant future. All the best, The Rambling Man (talk) 08:20, 27 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. Regarding the recent revert you made to Walrus: You may already know about them, but you might find Wikipedia:Template messages/User talk namespace useful. After a revert, these can be placed on the user's talk page to let them know you considered their edit was inappropriate, and also direct new users towards the sandbox. They can also be used to give a stern warning to a vandal when they've been previously warned. Thank you. ArcAngel (talk) 19:49, 28 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello there, I see you are on the 24 WikiProject. It's been quite dead for some time now, and me personally, I intend to revive it. I considered maybe even a 24 Portal, i see the project founder hasn't been on Wikipedia for nearly a year. What are your thoughts on the project? Are you still interested in it? And would you help revive it? Let me know, I would intend to help out a lot, maybe "take over" the founders position, well not take over, but possibly help lead the project? Was just a thought and I wanted your input. My talk page would be the best place. Cheers, Steve Crossin (talk) (anon talk) 19:46, 5 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for supporting my RfA, which unfortunately didn't succeed. The majority of the opposes stated that I needed more experience in the main namespace and Wikipedia namespace and talk space, so that is what I will do. I have made a list and I hope I will be able to get through it. I will go for another RfA in about three month's time and I hope you will be able to support me then as well. If you have any other comments for me or wish to be notified when I go for another RfA, please leave them on my talk page. If you wish to nominate me for my next RfA, please wait until it has been about three months. Noticed you are the primary contributor of this article. You also created the article Timeline of the 2008 Pacific hurricane season. Are not these two articles should be merged as it will help to ensure better maintainability and will be a compact article for the topic. Did it need to be created at this time? Maybe not. But it will be needed as the season goes on to keep 2008 Pacific hurricane season in order. See 2007 Pacific hurricane season and Timeline of the 2007 Pacific hurricane season.

Er, I was wondering about that. Thanks for the heads-up. Juliancolton Tropical Cyclone 18:22, 29 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Alright, sounds like a logical suggestion. But will the category remain "Tropical Depression One" even though it's a named storm? Juliancolton Tropical Cyclone 23:28, 29 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm, yea, it sounds like it might be better to add the storms to the 2008 PHS cat until the storm is gone, so we could start a storm-specific cat based on peak strength (ie. Tropical Storm Alma, Hurricane Alma). Leaving this one at TD 01E isn't that big of a problem, though. Juliancolton Tropical Cyclone 23:44, 29 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Track maps

[edit]

Ahaha. Before I asked you that, I actually had created a program in C# that used that exact map to figure out what pixel to put a dot at. I *think* it's flawless...I got the same basic coordinates you did, with a few extending decimals. Try it out, see if it works for you: [4] Enter latitude and longitude in pure numbers first (no N/S or W/E), and then the program will ask you whether it's N/S or W/E. See an example here.

Ah, alright. Anyway, The equation I used to find the pixels was a little bit different. First, I took 15306/360 (latitude; 360 around the map), and 7653/180 (180 longitude around the map), and got 42.516666666666666666666666666667 for each calculation. Then, I used this code to handle the hemispheres chosen:
               if (NorSEntry == "N")
               {
                   LatPixel = (42.516666666666666666666666666667 * (90 - LatToDouble));
               }
               if (NorSEntry == "S")
               {
                   LatPixel = (42.516666666666666666666666666667 * (90 + LatToDouble));
               }
               if (WorEEntry == "W")
               {
                   LongPixel = (42.516666666666666666666666666667 * (180 - LongToDouble));
               }
               if (WorEEntry == "E")
               {
                   LongPixel = (42.516666666666666666666666666667 * (180 + LongToDouble));
               }
And I was using Paint to do this because all my other image editing programs go "omg" when they try to load that massive image. Paint, for some reason, handles it pretty well. -- RattleMan 04:24, 10 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Somehow mix-up; I'm not the person who has ever changed anything

[edit]

I have not edited, for better or worse, any pages. I do, however, believe the integrity of this database should be protected and kept intact. To that end, I am letting you know I have not made any changes to "Motion" or whatever other page(s) to which you referred.

Again, I am only sharing this with you so you are able to get in contact with the appropriate person; if you believe the IP address recording reference method is infallible and are certain I made changes, you are certainly entitled to do so.

Getting your msg, which could have been easily ignored, didn't have any impact (e.g., financial, reputational, emotional, etc) on me. It just made me aware a message was misdirected and as I am a believer in maintaining the integrity of this site and have found it to be extraordinarily useful, I felt a personal obligation to assist in making sure your message got to the correct person.

Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference

[edit]

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion, guidelines for use at WP:MINOR). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and all users will still be able to manually mark their edits as being minor in the usual way.

For well-established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.

Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 20:43, 15 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
