Can you please tell me why you reverted my edit? It's a quote from the episode and directly related to the homosexuality issue. Hearfourmewesique (talk) 05:10, 9 July 2009 (UTC)
Re: Cleveland Show.
Here is it, and I quote:
“ | The number of episodes produced (a reliable source is required if greater than the number aired). | ” |
Does that work? --HELLØ ŦHERE 17:47, 11 July 2009 (UTC)
- I don't understand how "number of episodes produced" doesn't mean "produced number". 35 episodes have been produced (or will be), that is the number of episodes. I don't really see the problem? We have the number of episodes, and it is sourced. It is perfectly within the guidelines. --HELLØ ŦHERE 18:05, 11 July 2009 (UTC)
- I don't understand how the infobox isn't a guideline? If it isn't then most pages are incorrect. It is by the number produced. If that were the case then several shows shouldn't have lots of pages which list the names of episodes and their summaries. They shouldn't have the number of produced episodes in their infobox. The Cleveland Show page shouldn't list anything then because it has not aired a single episode or season. It is sourced and it follows the infobox. I do not see the problem? --HELLØ ŦHERE 18:11, 11 July 2009 (UTC)
The standard is for the team name article to redirect to the current franchise using that name. Thus, the IHL's "Quad City Mallards" should just be "Quad City Mallards". I got consensus from an admin, so I did it, and am moving it back. ONLY move it back if and when you can get consensus to do so. Tom Danson (talk) 20:25, 20 July 2009 (UTC)
- That's fine with me! The main reason I moved it was cause I thought it looked bad to use years, and it is better to use the league they are in. CTJF83Talk 20:27, 20 July 2009 (UTC)

Moving Photos to Commons
Hi Ctjf83, quick question for you. Do you have any objections to your photos being uploaded to Commons? I see that they are all tagged as Public Domain. I work on maintaining the Cities of Iowa category over there and thought they would be a valuable addition to the collection, but would prefer your blessing before proceeding. Let me know. Cheers! - Richc80 (talk) 14:03, 2 August 2009 (UTC)

Forts o' Iowa
Hi CT- thanks for the offer to make edits about the Frontier Forts of Iowa book to help me prevent COI. I think that will work; you offered without asking, you are a long-time editor, and we have a history of disagreement on other issues, so no one can accuse us of meatpuppetry. I'll give you some proposed edits when time allows. I appreciate it! Bill Whittaker (talk) 12:48, 28 August 2009 (UTC)

regarding sources from tweets. They seem legit as long as the twitter account is authorized, and ive read over the sources page again and as long as its not about a living person or is the basis for an article a tweet seems like a valid source.... Grande13 (talk) 21:23, 20 August 2009 (UTC)
Show me exactly where it says you can't use twitter? It says not to use it to create articles, which this isnt doing... and not to ues it if its about a living person or is the basis for an article a tweet seems like a valid source. In this case its only a date, and its confirmed by the creator and producer on their pages. Its fine to use and once more info becomes available on the subject it can be added to the articleGrande13 (talk) 16:59, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
- it doesnt say it cant be used there...Self-published sources should never be used as third-party sources about living persons, even if the author is a well-known professional researcher or writer.
This isnt an instance about that... Self-published material may, in some circumstances, be acceptable when produced by an established expert on the topic of the article...the creator and producers can be deemed experts and there are numerous info available about them twitting http://celebswhotwitter.com/tag/seth-macfarlane so you still havent proven when a date and upcoming episode ideas from that source cant be used...again we arent using the info to create an article, its just adding to an articleGrande13 (talk) 03:03, 27 August 2009 (UTC)
- ign might be more reliable, but there is nothing that says twitter can't be reliable as well. Once ign or some other publication has the info the link can be updated, but there is no reason why a date and a line or two about hd cant be sourced from twitter... Its not like the info is used to create an article for the 2010 season premiere as its just a brief mention. Im in agreement twitter by itself wouldnt be enough to create the page now for the whodunit episode, but as the format is now its fineGrande13 (talk) 03:35, 27 August 2009 (UTC)
- I put it on the project page. If there are no complaints I'll change it back in a few days Grande13 (talk) 13:00, 27 August 2009 (UTC)
- the page has undergone numerous edits with random people filling in whatever dates they piece together. its valid info and its use is acceptable for the context of the information on wikipedia. Not one really had a strong opionion about it one way or another, but it IMPROVES the article, so why are you fighting against that.... Grande13 (talk) 04:16, 1 September 2009 (UTC)
- the official seth Macfarlane account that has been confirmed in articles mentions its the producer Kara Vallow. Also, when her official web page was up (its under construction now), it linked to her twitter account. Twitter might not work as a general source for articles, but it can be used to provide small details such as dates to fill in and improve a page, although im aware its not enough to generate a whole page of info by itself. Forts o' Iowa Edits
Below are some changes to Des Moines for your consideration. Thanks! Bill Whittaker (talk) 13:16, 31 August 2009 (UTC)
Prehistory
Prehistoric inhabitants of early Des Moines
The juncture of the Des Moines and Raccoon rivers has attracted humans for at least 3,000 years. Several prehistoric occupation areas have been identified in downtown Des Moines by archaeologists. At least three Late Prehistoric villages stood in Des Moines, dating from about A.D. 1300 to 1700. In addition, 15 to 18 prehistoric American Indian mounds were observed in downtown Des Moines by early settlers. All have been destroyed.[2][3]
History
Origin of Fort Des Moines
The City of Des Moines traces its origins to May 1843, when Captain James Allen supervised the construction of a fort on the site where the Des Moines and Raccoon Rivers merge. Allen wanted to use the name Fort Raccoon; however, the U.S. War Department told him to name it Fort Des Moines. The fort was built to control the Sauk and Meskwaki Indians, who had been transplanted to the area from their traditional lands in eastern Iowa. The fort was abandoned in 1846 after the Sauk and Meskwaki were removed from the state.[4] The Sauk and Meskwaki did not fare well in Des Moines, the illegal whiskey trade, combined with the destruction of traditional lifeways, led to severe problems. One newspaper reported: “It is a fact that the location of Fort Des Moines among the Sac and Fox Indians (under its present commander) for the last two years, had corrupted them more and lowered them deeper in the scale of vice and degradation, than all their intercourse with the whites for the ten years previous.”[4] Even after official removal, the Meskwaki continued to return to Des Moines until ca. 1857.[3] Archaeological excavations have demonstrated that many fort-related features survived under what is now Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway and First Street.[5][4] Soldiers stationed at Fort Des Moines opened the first coal mines in the area, mining coal from the riverbank for the fort's blacksmith.[6]

Another Fo'I
In Dakota War of 1862 could you please add to the end of the War section:
Iowa Northern Border Brigade
In Iowa, alarm over the Santee attacks led to the construction of a line of forts from Sioux City to Iowa Lake. The region had already been militarized because of the Spirit Lake Massacre in 1857, and after the 1862 conflict began the Iowa legislature authorized “not less than 500 mounted men from the frontier counties at the earliest possible moment, and to be stationed where most needed”, although this number was soon reduced. Although no fighting took place in Iowa, the Dakota uprising led to the rapid expulsion of the few unassimilated Native Americans left in Iowa.[7][8]

Something Dark Side.
I'm sorry, it may just be me, perhaps I'm sadly going through a little bit of WP:OWN, but I honestly am just asking, from one editor to another, do you think my additions/reversions on the article are correct? --HELLØ ŦHERE 04:59, 1 September 2009 (UTC)
- Yeah, I agree for the most part, but it's not a good idea to get into an edit war. I mean, whether it's for good reason or not, it's just bad overall for both parties. I think it all needs to be taken to the FG Project. I took a previous "disagreement" there and it seemed people liked mine better. But I just don't wanna step on anyone's toes, I'm just trying to make it better for people who may just happen to hear about something, look it up, find the Wikipedia page, and read it. I do that still for things I'm not necessarily 'watching'. And I expect that other editors are improving those pages to their best. It has to be a collaboration, not just some versus others. Perhaps we should try to talk to them or get a huge discussion going on the FG Project talk page. But thanks for your opinion. Sorry to ramble like that. --HELLØ ŦHERE 06:50, 1 September 2009 (UTC)

Strange formatting help request
Would you mind taking a peek at the Osceola, Iowa article for me? I was trying to add historical poopulations to the article but it is somehow formatted strangely compared to other Iowa towns. I tried to add the template directly underneath the "==Demographics==" section but it really looked strange. Also odd is the inability to just edit the demographics section (and others) by themselves. GrandpaDave (talk) 04:47, 11 September 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks, that really makes the article look better. Not sure why the edit was missing on the individual sections. Appreciate your time on this one. --GrandpaDave (talk) 15:26, 11 September 2009 (UTC)
re: GA status Iowa
Be glad to help where I can moving the Iowa article to GA status. Been concentrating on getting random Iowa articles geocoded lately, but willing to work on other things as well. Most familiar with central and southwest Iowa. Also have access to the Iowa History Center at Simpson College for reference material. Let me know what help you need. GrandpaDave (talk) 01:31, 28 August 2009 (UTC)
On the geocoding for Eastern Iowa CC, I just put each of the 3 campuses geo coordinates inline. I added the street addresses for them as well. The area codes are a bit more problematic. The general sense on the geocoding project is to center mass the point and make it a very broad coordinate. Something like 42 degree N, 93 degrees W. Have been holding off on the Area Codes until I get a better idea. Some of the similar conditions are earthquakes, and geographical features like Coteau des Prairies, etc. Anyway, the missing geocode count is down to under 40 from 309 when I started. GrandpaDave (talk) 21:00, 2 September 2009 (UTC)
- Wondering about your thoughts on geocoding the Iowa Congressional Districts. Anomebot has marked them as needing geocoding, but I am not convinced this is really a good idea. Maps actually describe them better than a single coordinate. Many no longer exist, and several of them moved locations over time. Considering just doing a rollback of Anomebot's actions. What do you think?
GrandpaDave (talk) 04:51, 11 September 2009 (UTC)

- From the lead One of the Quad Cities, along with neighboring Bettendorf and the Illinois cities of Moline, East Moline and Rock Island, Davenport is the county seat of Scott County and is Iowa's third-largest city. - the components of sentences should be related, in this case the two parts are unnrelated and should be split. (unindent) Personally, I'm thinking of something along the lines of "Davenport is located in the 1st and 2nd districts of the Iowa Senate, which are represented by John Doe and Jane Doe, respectively." See Ann Arbor, Michigan (an FA), it lists state senators and representatives similarly.
If you ever get the urge to review something, take a look at PR backlog and seems if there's anything of interest.
Believe it or not, this will be the first time I've decided to skip GA. Niagara Don't give up the ship 17:36, 19 September 2009 (UTC)
- Sure, I'd find that informative. A source probably should be given, as well. Niagara Don't give up the ship 18:58, 19 September 2009 (UTC)
- Yeah, a map would work for the districts. Representatives should be easy to verify if they're linked, so a source probably isn't needed for them. Niagara Don't give up the ship 19:33, 19 September 2009 (UTC)
Sorry, busy weekend so just getting a look at this. Not sure if you want the comments here or on the article talk page? May take a few days to work through the article due to schedule. Have a couple of questions on the lead paragraphs.
Para1: Quad Cities is widely known as a nickname for the area, but the first paragraph lists 5 cities versus 4. I'm not from the QC area, but I always thought the Quad Cities referred to Davenport, Bettendorf, Moline, and Rock Island? Did East Moline get promoted and if so is it now the Quint Cities?
Para2: Palmer "College" of Chiropractic is referred to as a university. Not sure this is an accurate description.
More later as time permits. ==GrandpaDave (talk) 03:07, 21 September 2009 (UTC)
Stewie
What's yours? How many times does MacFarlane have to say Stewie's gay before you'll accept it? --DrBat (talk) 22:50, 22 September 2009 (UTC)
- The last consensus was made before MacFarlane's latest comments.
- And you should only use rollback for reverting vandalism, not for edits you disagree with. --DrBat (talk) 22:53, 22 September 2009 (UTC)
- I'm not the only one reverting your edits. And you've already reverted the article more than three times in one day now. --DrBat (talk) 22:59, 22 September 2009 (UTC)
- You're picking at semantics. MacFarlane has said twice now that Stewie's gay.
- And I'm referring to you reverting Zythe's edit, not Killkyle's. --DrBat (talk) 23:04, 22 September 2009 (UTC)

Stewie is gay within the show and Macfarlane definitely confirms this as a creative decision on his part of which we have seen active demonstration within the show. No OR required. "LGBT characters" is a compromise from where some editors had (irrelevant) problems with the category "fictional gay men" and Stewie's status as a baby. Regardless, there is no counter-argument of which I have been made aware. Real-life arguments about his age and whatnot are irrelevant. If I am speaking out of turn, then please forgive me, and we can discuss it further :) ~ZytheTalk to me! 23:51, 22 September 2009 (UTC)
Bix 7 Road Race and Memorial Jazz Festival
Bix 7 Road Race and Memorial Jazz Festival will need to be beefed up in terms of breadth and depth. Familiarize yourself with WP:WIAGA and then figure out which projects and categories your article belongs in. Add talk page templates for road races and festivals and then check those projects to see what the articles look like, especially the GAs and FAs. Then check articles in the categories that your article is in. That should get you started.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 06:19, 23 September 2009 (UTC)
- You will want to do things like find an infobox and add WP:ALT, but broadening the article is a big start.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 06:25, 23 September 2009 (UTC)
Response
Sorry for not responding to your previous question, I just forgot. I think I'm going to stay out of this debate, but there are two important conflicting points: Seth himself says Stewie is definitely gay, but it hasn't been stated in the show (yet). Similarily, JK Rowling said Dumbledore was gay, and although it wasn't in the books, it is in his article.
As for Neighborhoods of Davenport, Iowa, in its present form, I would call it an article but it's worth noting that there are some lists in prose form that are FLs, like List of characters in Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow and Dawn of Sorrow. I would take it to GA, and see what a reviewer thinks, but that's just me. I hope that helps. -- Scorpion0422 21:12, 23 September 2009 (UTC)

Cleveland Show episodes.
I agree that if the information can be found at another place, it's not needed twice. My only concern/question is the fact that the Family Guy episode page has it similar to the way it was before you removed it. Which way is correct without causing a major uproar? --HELLØ ŦHERE 01:18, 27 September 2009 (UTC)
- All I can say is List of The Simpsons episodes is a Featured List and the FG list isn't. I just don't see a point in the season pages, if we have all the same details on the episode list page too. CTJF83Talk 01:23, 27 September 2009 (UTC)
- Looking at others, it looks like if they have details on the List of Episodes page, there is no separate season pages: List of Futurama episodes, List of Hey Arnold! episodes, List of Darkwing Duck episodes and ones with separate season pages, don't have details on the list of episodes pages List of House episodes, List of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit episodes, List of CSI: Miami episodes, etc, etc CTJF83Talk

A section is only needed if there is worthwhile plot about them; single episodes aren't worth mentioning for main characters, so an episode such as when CB Jr. becomes a golf pro is unimportant. Tell me is this a good section for good reception:
Family Guy has also been got positive reviews from critics. Catherine Seipp of the National Review Onlinecalled it a nasty but extremely funny cartoon.[9] Caryn James from the The New York Times, called it a show with outrageously satirical family, includes plenty of comic possibilities and parodies.[10] The Sydney Morning Herald gave Family Guy a positive review calling it the Show Of The Week in April 21, 2009, and also called it pop culture-heavy masterpiece.[11] Frazier Moore from the Seattle Times called it an endless craving for humor about bodily emissions. He also called it breathtakingly smart, blend of the ingenious with the raw helps account for its much broader appeal and also called it rude, crude and deliciously wrong.[12] And actress Emily Blunt called it her favorite series.[13]

I still think it's more article than list, but my views on the list vs article debate don't always reflect policy. Try asking Dabomb87 what he thinks, he has a much more neutral view about the policy. (Some comments: The images should be shrunk, you should probably get a citation for every paragraph, and the lead should be expanded and become more of a summary, how many neighborhoods are there?, etc.) -- Scorpion0422 00:35, 4 October 2009 (UTC)

fg list
Adultswim doesn't update their listings for the most part through zap2it and such, but they are an established network and their schedule for their own shows is a source nonetheless. I think they know their own schedule better than anyone else.... Also, the see also's include other shows directly related to family guy, they all were created by same person, and characters have made appearances in family guy from american dad and vice verse. Grande13 (talk) 13:48, 3 October 2009 (UTC)
- Tvguide.com had the same line up as zap2it. Why do you think we just need a list of dates, and episodes with no plots? What's the point of that? CTJF83 chat 16:32, 3 October 2009 (UTC)
- whats the point of updating any page? The information is available so why not put it on the page. I'm pretty sure adultswim knows there own schedule more than secondary sources... There is no rule saying something needs a plot to be added or that it needs a press release...so i'm going to add it back unless you have an actual reason for it now being included in the list. i don't know why you have to give everything such a hard time with that page. The information is available and its located on the official schedule of a channel so whats the problem? Grande13 (talk) 16:45, 3 October 2009 (UTC)
- also the main page doesnt even include plots anymore...just because you don't like something, doesnt give you the ability to make up your own set of rules such as oh now it needs a plot, or now we have to wait for this. Things can be updated with additional sources once they are available, but there is nothing wrong with the way the page the way it was. I understand you make a lot of good edits and contributions towards many articles here, but this article is properly managed and isn't doing anything wrong, so if you keep having so many issues with things why dont you just focus on it less as i'm sure many other editors can help supervise efficiently. Grande13 (talk) 16:45, 3 October 2009 (UTC)
- You're probably the most difficult editor I've ever worked with. You have some article ownership issues, and insist on adding unsourced and OR information to articles all the time. CTJF83 chat 16:59, 3 October 2009 (UTC)
- and you dont see yourself being difficult to work with? The info is sourced. also it appears on zap2it and tvguide under airings, it just hasnt updated the title yet, but it is on the adultswim website, which is a legitimate source. I dont have any issues, i just want the articles to be up to date and have sourced info that adds to the show page, and for some reason you have a vendetta out to not allow for that sort of thing. You are the one that is controlling and trying to make everyone and everything conform to the way you want it. Once i get back in a few i'll update the FG page cause the info is SOURCED!Grande13 (talk) 17:05, 3 October 2009 (UTC)
- I don't really have problems with any other user. Why do you think WP Simpsons is so much better? Cause we don't do crap like this. I've asked some other FG project members to comment as well, as I'm tired of always arguing with you. CTJF83 chat 17:07, 3 October 2009 (UTC)
- Thats your opinion and you are entitled to thatGrande13 (talk) 17:09, 3 October 2009 (UTC)
Adult swim air's FG episodes but they do not make the episodes if there is any news from that with no Fox info there is no point in outting it there as it is OR and those and as expresed before we do not need to make the page out of crap, WP:Simpsons ask there your question and you well see the same resulte. --Pedro J. the rookie 17:13, 3 October 2009 (UTC)
- Grande, what's the problem with being a little patient and waiting for a Fox source to release episode titles? Using [a s]'s site to 'fill in the blank' seems a little OR-y to me too; technically if we draw the correlation between what's missing from Fox and what [a s] has, that would be OR. We don't know for absolute certainty that [a s] get the episodes in the same order (though, yes, it's extremely likely) that they broadcast. Granted this is a little bit of an odd situation (how many other shows are re-broadcast/syndicated on a different network so quickly after their original broadcast?). Do we have any text elaborating on the relationship between Fox and [a s]? If that were well enough discussed, I'd be a little more sympathetic to your sourcing method. I'd also like to see a precedent on WP for doing something that way, if one exists. My instinct is to model this article after similar established, high quality articles (Simpsons is a good example of a model). $0.02 DP76764 (Talk) 18:02, 3 October 2009 (UTC)
- where are the links to the american dad and cleveland show episodes. It allows easy navigation from one episode list to the other...Grande13 (talk) 22:49, 3 October 2009 (UTC)
- Is that really necessary? They aren't that much related where I can see linking, since the main pages link it. But if you insist, and readd, I won't argue. CTJF83 chat 22:50, 3 October 2009 (UTC)
I still do not think it is right, it those not matter whats on the cleavland show or AD it matters whats on FG, so i still think it's wrong. --Pedro J. the rookie 23:06, 3 October 2009 (UTC)
- The shows are all part of the same universe. Family guy characters are expected to appear on the cleveland show and vice versa. Also, there have been occasions where american dad characters have appeared on family guy. The shows are all somewhat related and this just allows for easier navigationGrande13 (talk) 12:17, 4 October 2009 (UTC)

Re: Cleveland Show
Reception doesn't bother me. Reception after only one episode is something that I have a problem with. Also the fact that non-reliable, wiki sources were being used. If the reception is true, and since the second episode airs in several hours, could it really hurt to wait until tomorrow to add the reception for what would be closer to the "series"? If that makes sense. --HELLØ ŦHERE 20:58, 4 October 2009 (UTC)
- Well it seems as though anything right now would only be toward the pilot episode as that's all that's aired. Some people may like the pilot then not like the second or vice versa. So, by waiting a little until at least the second episode has aired couldn't hurt much to get a more rounded view. Right? --HELLØ ŦHERE 21:02, 4 October 2009 (UTC)
- I didn't personally read it, but the way the IP was adding the information, and based on what they even just put up at their own talk page, it seems it is only based on the pilot episode. --HELLØ ŦHERE 21:11, 4 October 2009 (UTC)
- Well, I feel the page is accurate now. But that's just me. I was wrong in a certain aspect and I admit that. I'll even apologize to the IP, but in certain other aspects, I feel some of the information is needed and factual and deserves to stay. But that's just me. Unless something major happens at the page, I probably won't mess with it. Certain pages on ever-changing topics are always easier before the item is released. Lol. --HELLØ ŦHERE 21:19, 4 October 2009 (UTC)

It doesn't matter if you don't think it's 'fair' to list a seris reception based on one episode (when everyone knows full well only one episode has aired so they know what they are looking at) Wikipedia is not about being what you think is 'fair' . It's about being acuate.
Ctjf83: IS there a proper place to list view reactions like say, of those on hulu, or metacritic. I mean. these are the peopel watching the show. It's entirely more likely that a 'critics;' view is tainted than the collective view of those that actually watch the show. Case in point.. Arrested Development was highly critically acclaimed but almost no one watched it while it was on. Is there a proper way to catalog this very real reaction to this show that hasn't come from someone deemed worthy (whatever that means) to be a 'critic' —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.81.68.96 (talk) 21:24, 4 October 2009 (UTC)
- If you, or someone else wants to add the reviews, that's fine. I'll leave it alone. I personally don't read reviews for my own reasons. I admit, I probably should have read the review before continually removing it, but I personally felt that, after only one episode airing, a "reception" section was not needed. If it was true, Wikipedia isn't going anywhere, it could've been added after at least two episodes, per my reasons above. Perhaps I was wrong. I admit that. And in response to the IP's note above, I never used the word "fair". --HELLØ ŦHERE 21:27, 4 October 2009 (UTC)
I'm sorry, I took you saying "Reception after only one episode is something that I have a problem with", as you meaning you didn't think it was 'fair' to do so.. but I admit that was putting words in your mouth. Though, I'm not certain what else you could have meant by that... If It's more proper to wait until the second episode to put it up... then I'll abide by that. But if it's not the second episode that is the cut off, then please let me know when you think the proper time is to add this section.. 3 episodes?.. 4? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.81.68.96 (talk) 21:50, 4 October 2009 (UTC)
Mdingo is my attempt at signing my post. LOL! (guess I should just create an account, huh?) Good idea on that! I could give a good range of reviews from positive to luke-warm to negative. That would be pretty interesting I guess. But like I said, I'm not really a fan of posting a single persons review... even picking a good one, a bad one, and a middle-of-the-road one can obscure what's really going on. Even for a show that most people hate, I can find a good review, a bad review, and medium review. Maybe there is a proper section heading... "Web reception".. or "on-line response"... that someone could use to include ratings from these new sources of media like Hulu and or sites like metacritic and imdb, that allow users to rate shows. I think it is a relevant source of information. It's sort of like these sites are one of those collective consciousness deals that is very much in line with the spirit of this site.--Mdingo —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.81.68.96 (talk) 23:06, 4 October 2009 (UTC)

hey this is a section i am going to put in lisa so wachta think.
Hallmarks
In the opening sequence of many Simpsons episodes, the camera zooms in on Springfield Elementary School, it is shown that Lisa is seen being ejected from band rehearsal due to her non-conforming playing. She exits the room playing a saxophone solo, which sometimes changes. Some of the solos have similarities with pieces by Donovan, Frank Zappa, James Brown, and Charlie Parker.[14].
One of Lisa's hallmarks is playing the saxofone or the sax, in the episode Lisa's Sax she says that she practices one hour a day, it is also shown that she started playing the saxofone in 1990 where Homer buys it for her, because he discovers that a musical instrument is a way to encourage a gifted child. He sacrifices his air conditioner money to buy Lisa her first saxophone. He asked the clerk to engrave on the sax: "Dear Lisa. Never forget your daddy loves d'oh!", as Homer drops the saxophone.[15] --Pedro J. the rookie 01:59, 19 October 2009 (UTC)

Simpsons: Screaming Yellow Honkers
Hi. You removed my edits to line 42. How come? Any reference (Billboard Top 40 Hits among others) will verify that Fever was a hit song for Peggy Lee and that Helen Shapiro's version (which I only found in a UK reference called The Complete Book of the British Charts) was a cover version that was less successful even in the UK than Lee's earlier version; the odds of one of the Simpsons writers being familiar with it seems long, though I didn't remove the reference. And the coincidence of the episode title to the boxed confection seems self-evident. I make no claims to expertise on the Simpsons (I only looked at the page while trying to follow up a reference to the popcorn product), but the song reference seemed absurd and the lack of recognition of the title puzzling at best. Ajericn (talk) 10:55, 26 October 2009 (UTC)ajericn d can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:09, 29 October 2009 (UTC)
Hey there, Ctjf83. I'm currently working on the above article at it's FAC and was wondering if in any of the Family Guy DVD commentaries he's in he actually says his name? I already have a source for it's pronunciation, but it's a YouTube video and all... Thanks in advance, The Flash {talk} 23:08, 29 October 2009 (UTC)
- Yes, I just poped in PTV and Seth says it within the first 30 seconds. It is pronounced "Poven meyer", close to how it looks. I don't understand any of this - ˈpɒvənmaɪr stuff, so can't help you if that is how that shows it being pronounced. Do you have the DVDs? Any other questions, feel free to ask :) CTJF83 chat 03:19, 30 October 2009 (UTC)
- LOL, I would definitely say remove that youtube reference, and put in PTV. I went ahead and added the DVD reference, and hid the youtube video in case you wanna keep that for a secondary audio source. CTJF83 chat 03:24, 30 October 2009 (UTC)

Hi, Ctjf. I was wondering, if it wasn't too much trouble, if you could review that article at GAN? Re:
Oh, my God, I'm so sorry that I haven't worked on the article. I've been busy... here... not here. Alright, here's what you need to do: you need to get info. regarding the song's sound, see Hey Baby (No Doubt song)#Music and structure as example, of what I'm talking about. You need more reviews for the Critical section. Um, you might want to remove "Grammy Award nominated", as it has been discouraged not to include that. The Chart section seems fine, though sources are indeed needed. Also, there's too much repetition of "Forever and for Always" in the section, you might want to have a consistency with that. Overall, you're getting "there". :) -- ThinkBlue (Hit BLUE) 15:58, 9 November 2009 (UTC)

FAC supports and opposes
From what I've seen, candidates do not get promoted unless they meet the criteria, have very few actionable opposes or minor problems (if any), and get consensus to support.
I've yet to see a recent one pass without more than one supporter. --an odd name (help honey) 23:17, 23 November 2009 (UTC)
Indeed, in this month's FA log, I don't see any that passed with less than three supports. So you might need three. Maybe it could pass with two, but then the support consensus would be debatable for those. --an odd name (help honey) 23:26, 23 November 2009 (UTC)

Cultural influences
Family Guy was the first show to ever return to television thanks to DVD sales.[16][17] after returning from cancelation it began to influence on other shows produced by MacFarlane like American Dad which MacFarlane commented was a mix of Family Guy with All in the Family, [18] Also its spin-off The Cleveland Show has been influenced by the show. Family Guy, American Dad and the Cleveland Show exist in the same fictional world.[18] Family Guy has also influenced a live-action show The Winner which is also produced by MacFarlane. The Winner had the same kind of jokes that Family Guy has (bit offensive), but difference it was not taken very positive by critics.[19]
After the initial airing of the episode Patriot Games, where newscaster Tom Tucker announces a report on a fictional curse word, clemen, many viewers looked up the word on the Internet to try to find a definition. MacFarlane stated in the episode's DVD commentary that if someone invents an obscene definition for the word, the show will have to stop using it (it has not been used since this episode).[20] Also the many musical acts of Family Guy have influenced on American Dad as it also has similar big-band, high-production, patter-rich tunes.[18] FCC song was voted second on The Paley Center for Media special "TV's Funniest Moments", behind The Chris Rock Show segment "Black Progress".[21] The episode PTV featured a song called the FCC. The 59th Primetime Emmy Awards opened with Stewie and Brian singing about the upcoming TV season using the tune from "The FCC Song", originating from this episode.[22] The altered version of the song contained references to shows such as Scrubs, Two and a Half Men and Cavemen.[23] The episode Patriots Game features a two-and-a-half-minute rendition of the song "Shipoopi" from the 1957 musical The Music Man, conducted by Peter and performed by the Patriots and people in the stadium.[24] The original number in The Music Man was performed by around 40 or 50 singers and around 80 other musicians, as estimated by MacFarlane.

I agree with 198.200. English writing does not permit the usage of abbreviations, with few exceptions such as tables and graphs. If 198.200 changed the % sign to spelling out the word, then he/she is correct. - Alright, sorry to bother. Gage (talk) 21:50, 27 December 2009 (UTC)
