Cutie Honey (character)
[edit]Since there are plenty characters named "Honey" (see Honey (disambiguation)#Fictional characters), an article on Honey should be named either Cutie Honey (character) or Honey Kisaragi. In any case, since such article doesn't exist, there is no point in linking to it for "further information".--Nohansen (talk) 19:22, 29 October 2008 (UTC)
- Ok, thanks. --an odd name 19:40, 29 October 2008 (UTC)
Daiko: great-granddaughter
[edit]As I removed from the article:
- According to the Cutie Honey Encyclopedia, she is Seiji Hayami's great-granddaughter.[citation needed]
I'm fairly certain 69.92.216.226 meant Keibunsha's 1999 "Encyclopedia Cutie Honey" (ISBN 9784766932362), but without a page number and/or quote—ideally both—I can't tell if it's from there or just some semi-plausible quote pulled from the vast forest of Cutie Honey fansites. --an odd name 22:08, 29 November 2008 (UTC)
It's stated on page 090 of the Cutie Honey Encyclopedia. I believe the kanji written is actually "grandchild" but "great grandchild/daughter" would be a better translation. I can provide a scan if needed. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Retrosofa (talk • contribs) 05:56, 26 April 2009 (UTC)
- Sounds good, and I've added it. In this case, a scan would help me get the relevant Japanese text, so I can quote it and (try to) translate it to remove any sourcing doubts. No rush though. :) --an odd name 08:39, 26 April 2009 (UTC)
I couldn't get a clear scan, but the sentence is "大子は早見青児の孫にあたる". —Preceding unsigned comment added by Retrosofa (talk • contribs) 17:23, 26 April 2009 (UTC)
- Cool. Quote added. --an odd name 17:56, 26 April 2009 (UTC)

GA Review
[edit]- This review is transcluded from Talk:New Cutie Honey/GA1. The edit link for this section can be used to add comments to the review.
- Is it reasonably well written?
- A. Prose quality:
- B. MoS compliance:
- Some sales figures could still be helpful here, but it's fine for GA without them.
- Is it factually accurate and verifiable?
- A. References to sources:
- B. Citation of reliable sources where necessary:
- Episodes needs to be sourced. Being sourced in the list is not good enough. Done
- See "Addressing 2B" below. --an odd name 06:33, 14 January 2009 (UTC)
- Episodes needs to be sourced. Being sourced in the list is not good enough. Done
- C. No original research:
- Is it broad in its coverage?
- A. Major aspects:
- Sales data here I find wanting.
- B. Focused:
- Character section is too long. Either split it off into a list or compile it into 1-2 short paragraphs. The plot could also use some minor trimming, but it's not as bad.
- See "Addressing 3B" below. --an odd name 18:59, 14 January 2009 (UTC)

- A. Major aspects:
- Is it neutral?
- Fair representation without bias:
- Is it stable?
- No edit wars, etc:
- Does it contain images to illustrate the topic?
- A. Images are copyright tagged, and non-free images have fair use rationales:
- B. Images are provided where possible and appropriate, with suitable captions:
- Overall:
- Pass or Fail:
This article is close to GA level. Fix the sourcing issue for episode list and do something with the characters and plot and it should be good to go.じんない 20:24, 13 January 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks for your review. Please give me at least three days; I'll re-structure Plot and Characters—showing you different versions as needed—then the sources. Sales info is non-existent even in the (very rare) Perfect Guides; I've seen only this (in Japanese) fairly comprehensive, non-reliable fansite barely mention (in paragraph 2) that rental figures started well for the first episodes before dropping off for later ones.
- See related discussions on the characters at Talk:Cutie Honey The Live, WT:MOS-ANIME, and the last peer review. I'm considering a combined Plot and Characters section with less total details (similar to this guideline) as there's simply not enough info to get a spin-off of the characters to a high quality (or even prove their notability, in my opinion) and I really don't feel like splitting them off again unless there's strong consensus. --an odd name 00:06, 14 January 2009 (UTC)
- Addressing 2B
- Does this fix the episode sourcing issue? (I kind-of sort-of lied in that second sentence: I started working (in my sandbox) on the 3B issue first, but finished with the cite issue first. I hope.) --an odd name 06:33, 14 January 2009 (UTC)
- That should be good enough.じんない 09:12, 14 January 2009 (UTC)
- Addressing 3B
- Check this edit. I actually had to add to the first Plot paragraph because there wasn't enough context. --an odd name 18:59, 14 January 2009 (UTC)
- The changes are good enough. The descriptions seem a bit wordy, but not enough to prevent the nomination. You should consider getting it peer reviewed by someone from WP:PRV though as well.じんない 19:41, 14 January 2009 (UTC)
- I'll send it to the reviewers another day, as there are other articles and things I want to attend to. Thanks again for your review! --an odd name 20:05, 14 January 2009 (UTC)

"Anecdotes on the making of 'The New Cutey Honey' from Mr. Go Nagai"
[edit]Some notes on the added article:
- It's a one-page interview.
- Talks about how Batman inspired Nagai to create a series with dark surroundings, how finance forced the old TV series to reuse cels, why the males are weaker, etc.
- It sort-of touches on the abrupt cancellation: Graham says "I hope [Toei Video] will make enough profit to keep making more Honey-chan OVAs in the future."
- After the interview, there are some quick notes on the first soundtrack: bass and vocals were by Sally Kubota and Hitomi, respectively. While searching "Sally Kubota" on Google, I stumbled on this non-free picture and (through a website shown on another pic from that account) found it was from a very recent les 5-4-3-2-1 15-year reunion concert.
- No series sales data.
I'll start adding stuff from it soon. --an odd name 20:47, 1 June 2009 (UTC)
Laserdisc covers
[edit]Online store "Recobanchou" (or "Urabanchou") shows the Laserdisc covers, watermarked and in fairly-high resolution, for all eight Stages and the "Flash.1" special; they are linked in these search results. Laserdisc ID numbers are given, but no release dates. I doubt they're reliable, but here's their company info anyway. --an odd name 02:07, 8 June 2009 (UTC)
Possible sources of release dates, sales data?
[edit]Volumes 29 and 31 of "Toei LaserDisc New Disc Press" appear to promote the first episodes of the series.
Both links are to Yahoo! Japan Auctions, and the first one showed scans of the work but no longer. (I have its pictures, though, which say "3/21 ON SALE" among other things.) Can't archive the second since WebCite is down atm; no Wayback for either. I saw those links back in March 2008. It's sad how easily links can rot. --an odd name 09:40, 3 July 2009 (UTC)
Mandarake mentions the Perfect Guides
[edit]The Japanese store Mandarake posted this less than a month ago:
- "2Fムックコーナー 「新キューティーハニー パーフェクトガイドvol.1&2」入荷!不朽の名作!" (translated: 2F Mook Corner "New Cutie Honey Perfect Guide vol.1 & 2" available! Timeless masterpiece!)
I see the volumes' front covers, a bit of explanation, and that they were to sell it in the second floor of...somewhere. I see nothing really new; maybe someone fluent can. :) --an odd name 02:31, 14 July 2009 (UTC)
New Genres Added
[edit]Due to the lack of genres on this page, this videos has horror, comedy and ecchi. It needs to have 3 more genres in this page ~D3323 Thursday, April 4, 2013 9:09. — Preceding unsigned comment added by D3323 (talk • contribs) 04:10, 5 April 2013 (UTC)
