A summary of some important site policies and guidelines
[edit]- Wikipedia is an encyclopedia. All we do here is cite, summarize, and paraphrase professionally-published mainstream academic or journalistic sources, without addition, nor commentary.
- Wikipedia is not a social media network. The primary purpose of user pages is to let other users know about areas you might be interested in contributing in, not creating a website about yourself.
- Please sign your posts on talk pages with four tildes (~~~~, found next to the 1 key), and please do not change others' comments.
- "Truth" is not the only criteria for inclusion, verifiability is also required.
- Always cite a source for any new information. When adding this information to articles, use <ref>reference tags like this</ref>, containing the name of the source, the author, page number, publisher or web address (if applicable).
- We do not publish original thought nor original research.
- Reliable sources typically include: articles from mainstream magazines or newspapers (particularly scholarly journals), or books by recognized authors (basically, books by respected publishers). Online versions of these are usually accepted, provided they're held to the same standards. User generated sources (like Wikipedia) are to be avoided. Self-published sources should be avoided except for information by and about the subject that is not self-serving (for example, citing a company's website to establish something like year of establishment).
- Articles are to be written from a neutral point of view. Wikipedia is not concerned with facts or opinions, it just summarizes reliable sources. Real scholarship actually does not say what understanding of the world is "true," but only with what there is evidence for.
You might want to try WP:The Wikipedia Adventure to learn more about the site. Ian.thomson (talk) 17:29, 3 September 2018 (UTC)

Your sandbox
[edit]Personally, if I want to change a paragraph or so of an existing article, I copy it into my sandbox, make changes there, confirm that everything looks the way I want it (refs, etc.), and then paste it into the article. David notMD (talk) 22:31, 3 September 2018 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of User:CONTRIẞUTIONS
[edit]A tag has been placed on User:CONTRIẞUTIONS requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section U5 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to consist of writings, information, discussions, and/or activities not closely related to Wikipedia's goals. Please note that Wikipedia is not a free web hosting service. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Contested deletion
[edit]This page should not be speedily deleted because this is my user page about September 1, which has a connection to my user page about September 2. If this page was deleted, people would not know that I created a page about September 1, and they would think: "Why didn't (s)he create a page about September 1, and they wouldn't know how to find the page about September 2 because the link to this page is on User:CONTRIẞUTIONS. I hope my user page will not be deleted. CONTRIẞUTIONS (talk) 03:03, 4 September 2018 (UTC)
- That's not so much a reason for not deleting the page as it is to delete the others as well.
- Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a journal or blog. For this reason, I have deleted the September 2 and 3 entries. I have left the September 1 entry because you could turn it into an appropriate user page. This is assuming that you are interested in working on the encyclopedia, instead of using Wikipedia as a blog (which we do not allow). You are more than welcome to try to work on articles (that is why I recommended The Wikipedia Adventure). Ian.thomson (talk) 03:43, 4 September 2018 (UTC)
ꬲ
[edit]Please do not create new articles to ask questions, like you did at ꬲ. Instead, you should ask your question at the WP:Reference Desk. Thank you. --Ahecht (TALK

Proposed deletion of ꬲ
[edit]The article ꬲ has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
This page is a question that should be asked at the WP:Reference desk, not an article.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Ahecht (TALK
