DYK for Spread (prison food)

[edit]

On 10 August 2021, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Spread (prison food), which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that in countries like the United States, prisoners supplement inadequate prison food by combining ingredients like instant ramen (pictured), mayonnaise and Kool-Aid into improvised meals called "spreads"? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Spread (prison food). You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Spread (prison food)), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Request on 14:57:14, 5 April 2022 for assistance on AfC submission by Mallenor2007

[edit]

Hi! I hope you're doing well :) The reason I'm reaching out is because I was wondering why the Nativa SPA new article request for Wikipedia was denied and was hoping for some guidance/feedback from you.

The reason stated was because there wasn't enough press: "This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of organizations and companies)."

Do we need to add more references? Or was there a specific reference that "hurt" our submission?

Nativa SPA is actually a subsidiary company of another company that is already on Wikipedia (O Boticario). They're the second largest beauty brand in Brazil and are one of the largest brands globally, so we were also hoping to get Nativa SPA listed and linked with the O Boticario profile, but to also have its own. We've already seen people try to create fake profiles on other platforms (i.e. Google My Business).

Anyways, what can we do to get our submission approved? Is there a link that we need to remove? Do we need more? Is there a specific domain that you recommend getting a link / press article from?

Thank you in advance for your feedback!

@Mallenor2007: The page looks like a good start. It just didn't seem like it had enough sources yet, but keep adding to it because I think it's almost there! BuySomeApples (talk) 00:44, 28 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
