Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute to Wikipedia, introducing inappropriate pages, such as Elunking, is not in accordance with our policies. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. "Elunking"

[edit]

Mr Butler, welcome to Wikipedia. I'm sorry to delete your first article, but Wikipedia is not for what you are trying to do - introduce a new term. As an encyclopedia, Wikipedia exists to summarise material already published in reliable sources. One of its fundamental content policies is WP:No original research, which is worth reading in full, but in particular I draw your attention to the passage:

"If no reliable third-party sources can be found on a topic, Wikipedia should not have an article about it. If you discover something new, Wikipedia is not the place to premiere such a discovery."

A guideline which is also worth reading is Wikipedia is not for things made up one day - its real target audience is people who post articles about joke religions or new drinking games, but the arguments it uses are valid generally. Finally, WP:NEO is specifically about neologisms.

Your user page

[edit]

While I am here, may I invite you to tone down your user page considerably? User pages are intended for the volunteers, who are here to help build the encyclopedia, to say something about themselves, if they choose, to assist communication within the project. They are not for "substantial content... that is unrelated to Wikipedia" such as detailed CVs, and particularly not requests for employment. That could be considered advertising or promotion; Wikipedia is very resistant to those, and in its present form your user page is likely to be nominated for deletion. The userpage policy is explained at WP:User pages. It is considered unwise to post telephone numbers or email addresses, because spambots and spammers crawl the site. Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. Please note that Wikipedia is not the place for you to post your résumé, curriculum vitae, or similar material. It is also unlikely that anyone will ever see it, and anyone can alter the info you post. Please read this policy page describing what Wikipedia is not. Your résumé or CV will soon be deleted as this constitutes advertising, which is not allowed. You may also want to read our policies on conflicts of interest and autobiographies. Thank you.
