Viscount accident at GIG

[edit]

Hi, the accident in question resulted in a hull loss, which means that it is worthy of a mention at least under airline, aircraft and airport. Being a training flight it is probably not worthy of a separate article. See List of accidents and incidents involving the Vickers Viscount for all hull losses plus a few hijackings thrown in. Best, Mjroots (talk) 16:41, 11 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

BTW, if the section gets too long, it can always be split off into a new article. Mjroots (talk) 16:42, 11 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You seem just the person to improve this article. I did my best with it a while back but don't speak/read Portuguese. See talk page of the article for removed text which may be referenced by a Portuguese source. Mjroots (talk) 16:51, 11 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sources for Aero Geral

[edit]

Hi, I've provided another possible source of information for your topic, you can view the source on the Aero Geral talk page. ialsoagree (talk) 23:53, 12 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

THANKS, Ialsoagree! I am trying to write articles about defunct Brazilian airlines. I have very little information about Aero Geral. If you have the book, please feel free to add info to the article and place the book on the bibliography. The same applies to Panair do Brasil, a great Catalina operator in the Amazon and Cruzeiro do Sul, the airline that inherited Panair's Catalinas after its shut-down in 1965. Airlines assessment

[edit]

I'll gladly give them project banner and assess them if appropriate. But don't forget that airline articles have to pass the corporate test for notability. I have noticed that most airline articles are rejected, so be prepared.Petebutt (talk) 17:43, 13 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

P.S. It is normal for the author to place the banners on the talk pages. Self assessment as 'Stub' or 'Start' class is usual.

Autopatrolled

[edit]

Hello, this is just to let you know that I have granted you the "autopatrolled" permission. This won't affect your editing, it just automatically marks any page you create as patrolled, benefiting new page patrollers. Please remember:

  • This permission does not give you any special status or authority
  • Submission of inappropriate material may lead to its removal
  • You may wish to display the {{Autopatrolled}} top icon and/or the {{User wikipedia/autopatrolled}} userbox on your user page
  • If, for any reason, you decide you do not want the permission, let me know and I can remove it
If you have any questions about the permission, don't hesitate to ask. Otherwise, happy editing! Acalamari 15:30, 5 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

A note

[edit]

Re your edit summaries when reverting vandalism, please don't do it in all caps, it's the equivalent of shouting. RVV (or rvv) is adequate for an edit summary there. Not saying there's anything wrong with your editing, but just tone down the summaries a tad please. Mjroots (talk) 14:32, 28 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the tip (as usual)! I was quite annoyed to rebuild the section. I even considered requesting to semi-protect the page but after reading the guidelines decided to wait. Hopefully that IP will just get tired. (Brunoptsem (talk) 16:09, 28 July 2011 (UTC))[reply]
If you think that a temporary semi-protection will help, then it can be arranged. Mjroots (talk) 19:02, 28 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Here I have to rely on your experience. The IP 189.122.146.171, apparently located in Rio made two bad attacks in the last three days. Just a few hours ago he started again but a trustworthy collaborator, HkCaGu, was quicker in stopping the action. The person is copying and pasting data from GRU and adding nonsence like LY flying GIG/Jerusalem (Atarot has been closed for quite a while...). Plus the person is adding flights that need interline connection at GRU. I am inclined to ask semi-protection for a week because every attack, normaly done in the early hours, requires quite some work to undo. By the way, the article in Portuguese underwent also a similar attack. It is a mess now. Thanks for your usual help. BRGDS. (Brunoptsem (talk) 22:19, 28 July 2011 (UTC))[reply]
Can't help with the pt-wiki article, I'm afraid. There is an easy way to revert multiple edits back to a good version of an article, even if more than one editor has edited in the meantime. Do you have e-mail enabled? I won't put it on here per WP:BEANS, but am prepared to let you know how off-wiki. Heading for bed so will check for answer in the morning. Mjroots (talk) 22:24, 28 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. Yes, my e-mail is enabled. Good night. (Brunoptsem (talk) 00:50, 29 July 2011 (UTC))[reply]

I am sorry, but the logo comes from the official Varig website, meaning it is the actual valid logo. And, there is no new Varig and old Varig anymore. There is only Varig. Look at their website. Old Varig is Gol and "new" Varig is Varig.--Shatabisha (talk) 23:23, 27 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Shatabisha, With the due respect, allow me a correction to a very common and recurrent mistake: Varig - Viação Aérea Rio-Grandense, founded in 1927, and later known as Flex Linhas Aéreas went bankrupt in 2010. This is the airline that is informally known as "old Varig." Varig - VRG Linhas Aéreas, founded in 2006 and presently comprising the brands Varig and Gol is informally known as "new Varig." The article refers only to "old Varig" and for this reason the logo is the last one used by this company. As soon as "new Varig" was bought by Gol, the logo was changed to the one you were proposing. All information concerning "new Varig" is found on the article of Gol. Simply put, it is two different airlines with the same name, in a very similar situation to Alitalia and pre- and post- war Lufthansa. BRGDS (Brunoptsem (talk) 01:21, 29 February 2012 (UTC))[reply]

By the way, I just looked at your user page and I saw you're related to Finland. Finland is very dear to me, as I used to live there, and I travel there very often.

I think it might be a good idea to let you know that at the moment, a disambiguation page that I created, Turun (about names of institutions, places and things from Turku that non-Finnish-speakers refer to as turun) is being considered for deletion at AfD. I think it's ridiculous to delete it because a) it's a very useful disambiguation page (navigational aid) and b) it helps to improve the coverage in Wikipedia of Finnish-related topics. If you're interested, you can express your opinion here: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Turun Azylber (talk) 11:31, 18 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Done, I believe that the best track for a solution is the search to be re-directed to Turku#Name by the reasons given on the Turun discussion page. (Brunoptsem (talk) 12:52, 18 July 2012 (UTC))[reply]
Ok. Thanks for expressing your opinion, although I totally disagree. It think it should be kept, not deleted or redirected. I created it from the point of view of English speaking people, because this is the English Wikipedia. I think this article would be useless in the Finnish Wikipedia, but is very useful in the English Wikipedia. I used to live in Finland as a non-Finnish speaker, and that article would have been very useful for me. In any case, it doesn't so any damage, so I don't understand at all why it must be deleted or redirected. Unfortunately, it looks like they have already decided not to keep it so... but thanks anyway Azylber (talk) 06:04, 19 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I understand your frustration, but please understand that entries should be kept in the nominative case, unless accompanied by a main noun such as, for example, in Turun linna - the castle of Turku, or Helsingin Sanomat and not for Helsingin or sanomat only. Even on an English/Finnish/English dictionnary the nominative case rule would apply. Furthermore, I add that the English Wikipedia is widely read not only by English-speakers but speakers of many other languages. In this sense, the language is just means of communication and should target a wider audience. This is one reason why I work with Brazilian airports in English and not Portuguese. Well there is another reason as well: I do not want to deal with the existing "feud" in the Portuguese language. Last year in a meeting with the Wikimedia people I pointed that out, but this is another matter. For the time being, do not let this Turun-issue frustrate you too much. Your work can be useful in many other ways. (Brunoptsem (talk) 10:32, 19 July 2012 (UTC))[reply]

Hi Brunoptsem, Just have a look on the website here and you can see the official name of the airport. The airport is called Aeroporto Internacional de Viracopos which means Viracopos International Airport. There is nothing with Campinas. I am reverting your edit. And dont revert my addidional information about the origin of the airport below please.--Cruks (talk) 09:14, 30 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Cruks, As made explicit in text reference 4, Brazilian Federal Law 7.585 of January 6, 1987 established that the official name to be used in all State documents documents is Viracopos-Campinas International Airport and this overides the popular name Viracopos International Airport used in the airport website. The confusion is understadable because a few years ago some airports in Brazil, particularly the bigger ones, had their names slightly changed to reflect both their city (Campinas) and location/neighborhood (Viracopos). Viracopos International Airport, the older form still popularly used, had the name related only to the location. The law established that the city name, Campinas, had to be mentioned as well and also established in which order they were to be mentioned. For this referrenced reason I am reverting the article back to its original form (Brunoptsem (talk) 10:29, 30 August 2012 (UTC))[reply]
Although I have advised you not to revert my additional information about the origin of the name Viracopos, you have brutally ignored this and went over it like a bulldozer. I advise you to revaluate your actions and come to proper terms.--Cruks (talk) 11:33, 30 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Dear Cruks, I have used proper and not aggressive language, acted on good faith, provided references and a suitable explanation in the talk page. This is not acting like a bulldozer. Moreover you will notice that I have provided better referencing methods for your information. (Brunoptsem (talk))

Information icon Hello, I'm Zackmann08. Thank you for your recent contributions to Luis N. Rivera-Pagán. I noticed that when you added the image to the infobox, you added it as a thumbnail. In the future, please do not use thumbnails when adding images to an infobox (see WP:INFOBOXIMAGE). What does this mean? Well in the infobox, when you specify the image you wish to use, instead of doing it like this:

|image=[[File:SomeImage.jpg|thumb|Some image caption]]

Instead just supply the name of the image. So in this case you can simply do:

|image=SomeImage.jpg.

There will then be a separate parameter for the image caption such as |caption=Some image caption. Please note that this is a generic form message I am leaving on your page because you recently added a thumbnail to an infobox. The specific parameters for the image and caption may be different for the infobox you are using! Please consult the Template page for the infobox being used to see better documentation. Thanks! Information icon Welcome, and thank you for contributing the page VASD – Viação Aérea Santos Dumont to Wikipedia. While you have added the page to the English version of Wikipedia, the article is not in English. We invite you to translate it into English. It has been listed at Pages Needing Translation, but if it is not translated within two weeks, the article will be listed for deletion. Thank you. SeasSoul

[edit]

SeasSoul is pushing 3RR at Ford Corcel and deleting all attempts at communication. I see they've had run-ins with you as well, as well as engaging in personal attacks. Do we give them more chances or should we report? Best,  Mr.choppers | ✎  01:34, 5 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Mr. Choppers, you are absolutelly right about SeasSoul: this problem has been going on for a while. Weeks ago, I have asked help for the administrator MilborneOne who protected Fortaleza Airport for 2 weeks but at the end of which problems started again. Another well-known administrator, Jetstreamer tried to politely intervene but was received with coarse language on his talkpage. Epistulae ad familares also tried to intervene without any success. All notes that were left on SeasSoul talkpage were deleted and all messages left on Fortaleza Airport were disregarded. SeasSoul acts in many places; I am aware of his acts in Brazilian airports articles but apparently his actions go way beyond. In most articles he places new airlines services always without a reference; when they are correct - and most of them are - I just place a citation needed note and let it be. However, in the aviation project, the worst case is Fortaleza Airport: the article needs editing badly but almost any edition that is not according to his will is reverted. That's why we have a charter airline (Sideral) listed without destinations! I suspect but cannot prove that the same person acts under different accounts because similar situations have been found under the nick Mateusportuga and last year the account CBG17, which was very active at Fortaleza Airport was blocked indefinetivelly. Not being an administrator and not willing to start an edit war I do not know what to do. I believe, Wikipedia should be made aware of this. (Brunoptsem (talk) 17:37, 5 November 2019 (UTC))[reply]
Thanks, perhaps we can just block them as a WP:SOCK. I'll keep you posted.  Mr.choppers | ✎  01:27, 6 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
See Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents  Mr.choppers | ✎  02:01, 6 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, the fact that the page has no information about the editor and that he or she erases all notes on the talk page rings some bells. The person seems to be well-versed in subjects related to Brazil AND Germany, particularly but not exclusively to transportaton. Going through his contributions, we note that on 13SEP19 the pages of the president of Brazil Jair Bolsonaro and Deforestation of the Amazon rainforest were clearly vandalized and there were past edition problems in 2019 Northeast Brazil oil spill and National Museum of Brazil. Contributions started on 12NOV18 with editions related to the Blankenese neighbourhood in Hamburg. Whatever the interests of the editor are, the common trend are editions without references and probably with an agenda in mind. (Brunoptsem (talk) 11:25, 6 November 2019 (UTC))[reply]
Quickly using some Hermeneutics tools based on types of editing, behaviour, vocabulary and themes there is a possibility that Cruks blocked in 2012 and Monart blocked in 2014 are related to SeasSoul, maybe even the same person.(Brunoptsem (talk) 00:21, 7 November 2019 (UTC))[reply]

ITA Itapemirim

[edit]

Hello Bruno, you, as a regular at Brazilian airports, could create the Itepemirim page, after all you already have 10 aircraft, you just need to fly.

Also give a page to Meli Air, a charter company created by Mercado Livre that leases aircraft from Sideral. Please write a stub page, thanks. --2.203.242.68 (talk) 10:38, 5 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi colleague, thanks for the heads-up; yes ITA was already in my to do list. The same applies to Meli Air and to Nella, the latter not mentioned. In the list is also Guarujá/Santos Airport. (Brunoptsem (talk) 14:17, 5 November 2020 (UTC))[reply]

Grato, (Brunoptsem (talk) 15:27, 9 November 2020 (UTC))[reply]
A stub-article for ITA Transportes Aéreos was created on 22 February 2021. (Brunoptsem (talk) 22:14, 22 February 2021 (UTC))[reply]

Your recent editing history at São Paulo/Guarulhos International Airport shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See the bold, revert, discuss cycle for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you do not violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. Dicas

[edit]

Hang loose!

Muitas coisas me entristecem, como as aeronaves abandonadas indo a fazendas... Surreal.
