Scott D. Miller, Ph.D. moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Scott D. Miller, Ph.D., does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. — Sagotreespirit (talk) 03:24, 24 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Help me!

[edit]

 Courtesy link: Draft:Scott D. Miller, Ph.D.

Please help me with... I'm working to create this wikipedia page Draft: Scott D. Miller, Ph.D. I have interviewed several people and collected the resources, but it looks like I need better sources to confirm the information. I've been trying to read about what I need to change, but would be so appreciative of any specific feedback you can give me about what further sourcing is required to publish. ICCE2020 (talk) 17:18, 24 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi ICCE2020, I suggest reading this page about writing a Wikipedia article, and also this introduction to referencing. Also, on Wikipedia, everything needs to be verifiable using reliable sources, so unless your interviews have been published in such reliable sources, these interviews are unlikely to be acceptable on Wikipedia as references - see WP:OR.
For the draft, you should try and insert references as inline citations - the ones which appear like in the article like this:[1]. Also, many of the references currently come from Miller's own website - see WP:SPS for why this should be avoided: please try and find secondary sources if possible. Try the reference desk if you need help finding some.
I haven't read the draft thoroughly, but having had a skim-read of it, it appears that it may be promotional (eg: He has also traveled the world, teaching workshops and providing consultations ... always with the goal of helping to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of mental health services. and Stay up-to-date with his latest work by subscribing to his, “Top Performance Blog”). Wikipedia isn't the place for promotion/advertising, so if you submit the draft as it currently is, it will most likely be rejected. Please remove anything that could be considered promotional - keeping in mind Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy (WP:NPOV). As it does sound promotional, I have to ask that if you have a conflict of interest (COI) with Miller, you should read Wikipedia's policy on COIs (here's a simple guide to the policy; and here's a list of help available to editors with COIs), and you must disclose it - especially if you are paid to edit.
In summary: read this page about writing a Wikipedia article; read this introduction to referencing; find more/better references, try the reference desk if you need help with this; remove promotional material; and if you have a connection of some sort with Miller, read Wikipedia's COI policy. Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames which give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; please take a moment to create a new account with a username that represents only yourself as an individual and which complies with our username policy or request a change of username. It also appears that your account is intended to be used for the purpose of telling the world about an organization, person or cause that you consider worthwhile. Unfortunately, many good causes are not sufficiently notable for their own Wikipedia article, and all users are discouraged from editing in any area where they have an inherent conflict of interest. You may wish to consider one of these alternative outlets.
While user names that are the names of organizations are not permitted, you are permitted to use a username that contains the name of a company or organization if it identifies you individually, such as "Sara Smith at XYZ Foundation", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87". Additionally, if your contributions to Wikipedia form all or part of work for which you are, or expect to be, paid, you must disclose who is paying you to edit.

Please also note that you are permitted to use a username that contains the name of a company or organization if it identifies you individually, such as "Sara Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87".

If your username does not represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page.

You may simply create a new account, but you may prefer to change your username to one that complies with our username policy, so that your past contributions are associated with your new username. If you would prefer to change your username, you may appeal this username block by adding the text

{{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}

at the bottom of your talk page. Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names.

Request reason:

I am requesting to have my username changed from ICCE2020 - I am a voluntary member of the ICCE that is trying to complete my first wiki article about Feedback Informed Treatment, Deliberate Practice, and it's founder Scott D. Miller. I am not being paid to do this, believe the subject matter is notable and can provide a variety of reliable resources. I am open to any feedback to improve the article, but don't want to lose the work already done. Is it possible to have the draft:Scott D. Miller page moved to the new username? I already applied for the new username, so I'm hoping that doesn't cause a conflict. ICCE2020 (talk) 2:55 pm, 9 September 2020, last Wednesday (3 days ago) (UTC−4)

Decline reason:

SOmeone, presumably you, registered that account this past week. If unblocked what will you edit that is not related to Miller or any other area that you have a conflict of interest with? We're not going to unblock you just to edit about Miller. only (talk) 02:13, 13 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks so much for your reply. It is evident that there is much to be learned about editing in wikipedia. I would like to continue to be able to educate myself further, continue with the tutorials etc. Edit other areas of interest. Given that errors were made with my lack of experience, I would like the opportunity to correct them. Is that an option?

Decline reason:

As identified in the last decline, that username is not currently available. Please select a different one. Do not attempt to actually create a new account, just identify a new user name and an admin will do the rest. Additionally, please identify more specifically what articles you are interested in editing if you are to be unblocked. signed, Rosguill talk 19:44, 22 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Help me!

[edit]

Please help me with... Good Morning - I am writing because my username has been blocked due to it representing an organization that I am a volunteer member of - the ICCE. I am new to Wikipedia and attempted to write my first article. I read articles before hand, but still changes need to be made. I am mental health therapist that uses Feedback Informed Treatment (FIT) which is a way of working with clients that tracks outcomes. This is an important topic for clinicians in my field. My first article was written about the founder of FIT, Scott D. Miller. Although I did not write the article alone, I wrote it and reviewed it with several other colleagues, it was ear marked as being promotional. I am happy to disclose that I do know Scott, as he has done much of my clinical training in FIT, but I am NOT being paid for this work. I would like to continue the editing process but was quickly blocked. I have appealed it, but have not heard anything back. I am new, so am making mistakes and have not intentionally broken any guidelines that I am aware of. I have requested a new username which solely represents myself, but don't want to lose the work that is being done. Is there any way to get a quick response. Honestly, the block came so fast, I feel a bit confused as to why the matter isn't being addressed as quickly. Any feedback would be very much appreciated.

take care, Brooke ICCE2020 (talk) 16:02, 10 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
