This page has been created by me on behalf of Grain Connect who have paid me to create it. It has been written without the usual marketing jargon and has been referenced and cited to prove the assertions made. BrightSunYellowFields (talk) 11:22, 16 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

It has citations, sure. I agree that the language isn't "the usual marketing jargon". But is it an encyclopedia article? Most of this looks like information you'd go to their website to find, or things that are only really likely to feel all that significant to someone who works for them. For example: They also set a company record for installing a brand-new fibre line into a property, which had no pre-existing infrastructure, completing a customer sign-up, installation, and network connection in just 29 minutes. - is that really the sort of thing you'd expect to find in an encyclopedia article about a company that wasn't paying you? -- asilvering (talk) 22:52, 16 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, perhaps the line was "too marketing" and happy to remove as I did with others when I received the copy from management. However other providers such as Virgin Media, TalkTalk, BT etc have a Wikipedia page. Grain is slightly different and, I believe, merits an inclusion in an encyclopedia, as it is part of a wave of "Altnet" providers that are not using the traditional infrastructure of the incumbent BT but rather investing hundreds of millions of pounds in their own network. Grain may succeed or fail as a business, but both events would be newsworthy and part of a period in UK communications history that should be recorded. It may well merit an encyclopedia article, but an encyclopedia article isn't "a list of facts from recent press releases". Imagine no one edits the article again for ten years - will the contents still be relevant? Regarding newsworthiness, that's exactly what we're looking for - have a look at WP:ORGCRIT. -- asilvering (talk) 15:57, 17 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Draft:Grain Connect, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator.
