Norman Borlaug

[edit]

I have nominated Norman Borlaug for a featured article review here. Please join the discussion on whether this article meets featured article criteria. Articles are typically reviewed for two weeks. If substantial concerns are not addressed during the review period, the article will be moved to the Featured Article Removal Candidates list for a further period, where editors may declare "Keep" or "Remove" the article's featured status. Proposed deletion of Ceroma

[edit]

The article Ceroma has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Article has been copied to Wiktionary. Not a notable enough subject for its own Wikipedia page. Not linked to any other page.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The Speedy Deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and Articles for Deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. I have nominated Ceroma, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Ceroma. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Fair use rationale for File:CleeseChapman1948Show.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:CleeseChapman1948Show.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Andrew c [talk] 17:36, 12 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image (File:GOB on stage.jpg)

[edit]
⚠

Thanks for uploading File:GOB on stage.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. You can check out the page if you are interested here. Thanks again!

Hi, apologies for not delivering this notice sooner. You seemed to be nearly inactive. A featured picture you nominated in 2005 has come up for review. You may wish to participate. Durova357 03:59, 6 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Lock icon.gif

[edit]

Hi Brian0918. Back in 2005 you uploaded File:Lock icon.gif . It is not clear from its image description page if you are the author of that image, or just uploaded it as a copy since it is the lock icon used by the Wikimedia projects. And in case you didn't make that image, how did you know what license to put on it?

The reason I would like to know is that I am going to copy that image to Commons, so I would like to have the right data on the image description page there. (I use that image in the {{sec link auto}} template. And my templates tend to be copied to many of the other Wikimedia projects, so the image needs to be available on Commons.)

If/when you have answered or simply updated that image page, could you poke me on my talk page?

--David Göthberg (talk) 05:33, 29 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles. See the Article Wizard.

Thank you.

A tag has been placed on Robert Aldred requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, individual animal(s), an organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Abductive (reasoning) 05:33, 27 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Unreferenced BLPs

Hello Brian0918! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. Please note that all biographies of living persons must be sourced. If you were to add reliable, secondary sources to this article, it would greatly help us with the current 3 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

Hello; can I ask you a rename please?

Hello, my name is Andrea and I'm Italian.

Can I ask you a rename of a file?

I posted already the TAG requesting the rename time ago but nothing happened.

The file is:

File:ÇFDFE.jpg

and the motivation is:

It has been suggested that this media object be renamed to "File:Napoli_CastelDellOvo_02.jpg" or another more suitable name for the following reason: the current name is difficult to be indicized, the new name reflects the actual image info to be indicized

Thank you, ciao

Angelici

[edit]

Hello! Regardless of the Cyclopedia source, this is extremely dubious information. There were no chivalric orders in the Western sense in Byzantium, and titles such as those supposedly used where never in use in the Byzantine Empire. A 1728 source is also not the most reliable guide on historical issues. As I have written on the talk page, this appears to be this order, which does claim Byzantine heritage but has no recorded history before the 16th century. The article should be redirected & merged with the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of Saint George, with a proper explanation that its founding myth is exactly that, at the very least. File permission problem with File:New york police department car-2.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:New york police department car-2.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. IngerAlHaosului (talk) 15:10, 18 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
