Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Pyrrhic victory, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Pacific Theatre. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Rochambeau in Haiti

[edit]

Hi there, this is to let you know that I have reverted your change in Jean-Baptiste Donatien de Vimeur, comte de Rochambeau because it is not him who served in Haiti (Source: Perry 2005, p. 79). Thanks. ネイ (talk) 01:25, 28 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

That presents a non-trivial problem. The Wiki page on the St. Domingue revolt mentions Rochambeau repeatedly, and goes into detail about his torture and other racist activities there.
Even more, in addition to other sources, they cite Perry 2005. To be honest, comparing the two pages makes me wonder if it's possible that someone has sanitized the Rochambeau page? BooksXYZ (talk) 16:52, 3 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Perry 2005, for example, mentions that it's Rocheambeau's son (Donatien-Marie-Joseph de Vimeur, vicomte de Rochambeau, so also "Donatien de Rochambeau"). Father and son having the same name probably caused the confusion. ネイ (talk) 05:51, 25 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
