Possible conflict of interest and single purpose account

[edit]

Hi Boldoso, I appreciate your edits to Thacker Pass Lithium Mine, but I'm concerned that your accounts has only edits to that page and is thus a Single Purpose Account or that you may have a Conflict of Interest on this topic. In particular, some of the resources that you cited, such as https://github.com/domesticlithium/lawsuits/blob/main/Oct012021/96-2.pdf was first created 6 days ago (October 5) by a Github user name that could be associated with a company associated with the mine - I'm concerned that there is a possibility that you are that Github user. I'm trying hard to assume good faith here, though it would help me if you assented that you do not have a conflict of interest on this article and that you also made edits on other topics. If you do have a conflict of interest, then please tag your user page and propose edits in Talk:Thacker Pass Lithium Mine. My primary concern is to have a neutral point of view article on this topic that is well supported by reliable sources. Again, I appreciate your edits here, but as your account only has edits on this article, I have concerns. Cxbrx (talk) 17:52, 11 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Cxbrx,

Thanks, I try to cite authoritative, trusted sources for all my edits, even if that means a proxy in some circumstances. I do not know who uploads the court filings to github, I am not that user. I came across the github court repository when reading Thacker Pass Lithium Mine a few months back when another wiki user cited it: "[17]Kathleen Rehberg's Letter to Reno-Sparks Indian Colony" https://github.com/domesticlithium/lawsuits/blob/main/47-2.pdf At present, at least 3 months of court documents are stored there, so very useful. https://github.com/domesticlithium/lawsuits The document library appears to be updated when new filings occur as a service to people who don't have a PACER account. The original court documents are publicly available to registered users: The PACER (Public Access to Court Electronic Records) https://pacer.uscourts.gov/find-case/search-specific-court

With regards to SPA, I guess you have to begin somewhere on wikipedia: a topic that attracts your interest sufficiently to 'get over the hump'. I closely follow the renewables space and electric vehicles in particular and lack of balance on wiki when looking for information on Thacker Pass Lithium Mine prompted my response. In particular, many existing citations rely on self-published protest blogs as a primary source. I may, now more familiar with editing wiki pages, expand my choice of topics in the future and broaden my edits. It's more enjoyable than I thought! Hi Boldoso, thank you for replying to my concerns and explaining how you found those resources. I agree that one needs to start somewhere, and was hesitant to bring this up, but as the topic is somewhat contentious, I'd like the article to have a neutral point of view as much as possible. I realize that a number of the sources are not WP:RS, I'm hoping that over time this will change as WP:RS coverage increases. BTW - don't forget to indent your reply with a leading colon (:), see Help:Talk_pages#Indentation. You have made a great start with your edits, keep up the good work. Hi Cxbrx, thanks, appreciate the feedback on my edits.Takes a little more effort looking for historical citations rather than simply linking to recent news coverage but felt wiki page unbalanced. Wiki as a one-sided 'news' aggregator doesn't seem appropriate. Certainly a pivotal time in transition from fossil fuels to renewables with Haywood's autobiography Exhibit 3 in the latest filings(96-3). https://github.com/domesticlithium/lawsuits/tree/main/Oct012021/ Boldoso (talk) 12:29, 12 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
