Deletion

Can I remove pages, or rename them? Maxeklund 00:59, 4 April 2007 (UTC)

If you need to, you can rename a page by clicking the 'move' tab at the top of the page; this acts like a rename by moving the content to a new page. If it's an image, you can go to the image page and click "upload a new version of this file" if you need to change the picture. Otherwise, you might want to talk to an administrator about it. thesublime514 (Talk) 01:20, 4 April 2007 (UTC)

Thanks! Maxeklund 08:49, 4 April 2007 (UTC)

AfD nomination of Arbor Creek Middle School

An editor has nominated Arbor Creek Middle School, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not"). Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Arbor Creek Middle School and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. Jayden54Bot 18:59, 4 April 2007 (UTC)

Welcoming

Hi. Thanks for welcoming so many users. I mean, you're as fast as a bot, because you got to all the new users before I did! I guess welcoming users is probably helpful, because it invites them to edit, and educates them about wikipedia. Great job. Thanks. PS, did you ever get welcomed? – AstroHurricane001(Talk+Contribs+Ubx)(+sign here+How's my editing?) 01:23, 8 April 2007 (UTC)

Thank you. I don't think I ever got welcomed, but that's okay. Haha, how I did all that welcoming so quickly: I found a user script that I customized -- it adds a welcome tab to the top of the user page for quick welcoming. If you need it, you can find it here; just ctrl+f for 'welcome'. ~thesublime514talk 01:37, 8 April 2007 (UTC)

Thankyou for the welcome!

Thanksing you

Thanks for engaging me in a bit of sandbox fun. As you can tell by my user page, I enjoy sandboxes. Also, thanks for the help with templates - I shall see how I can use them contstructively (or maybe I'll just fill up my sandbox with them... :D). And, for the pictures, I say: it's a pleasure. Timestamp in small font size

use the following code in your signature to provide a small font timestamp.

 <em style="font-size:10px;">{{<includeonly>subst:</includeonly>CURRENTTIME}},
 {{<includeonly>subst:</includeonly>CURRENTDAY}}
 {{<includeonly>subst:</includeonly>CURRENTMONTHNAME}}
 {{<includeonly>subst:</includeonly>CURRENTYEAR}} (UTC)</em>

NB, you then only need to sign your comments with three tildes instead of four, as this shortcut inserts only your pure signature.

Aaahh, you probably need to enable raw signature in your Preferences
Is your signature a separate file?? Mine is user:superbfc/sig and I have {{subst:user:superbfc/sig}} in my signature box with the Raw option ticked.
Oh, I didn't know you could do that. Thanks! ~ thesublime514talk 19:04, April 8, 2007 (UTC)

thanks for your comments

I´m still tryinmg to learn how to use wikipedia.

Sorry if this is not the proper place to i answer you, but i didn´t understood yet the "talk" feature.

Thank you. Yes, the 'talk' page is where you should ask any questions, so this is definitely appropriate. If you need anything, just ask. ~ thesublime514talksign 20:54, April 8, 2007 (UTC)

Hello back from Codegrinder

Thanks for the post on my talkpage. I'm not much of an article writer myself so I usually limit myself to copy-edits and discussions.

Hey there Thesub, just wanted to say thanks for welcoming me into Wikipedia, but just one thing, you said I made contributions, however I haven't made any articles...yet. :P LostNecromancer 22:45, 8 April 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, well.. it's just a template. But I might change it now that you bring it up. ~ thesublime514talksign 22:51, April 8, 2007 (UTC)

Hi, I also just wanted to thank you for the welcome and the pointers. It's much appreciated!

Introduction to Wikipedia

Thank you for sending me the introductory material to wikipedia. I've already read much of it (by searching on google). But it's good to know where I can find these resources. I will be sure to read more as I go. Screen stalker 15:50, 9 April 2007 (UTC)

How do I create a user page? Screen stalker 21:02, 9 April 2007 (UTC)

Hi

I've reverted some of your category tagging because I don't see how they are anything but tenuously related to chemical engineering. This includes things like qualitative inorganic analysis which is not a chemical engineering process, nor inorganic chemistry. I have taken a look at the category and I see things like biology (!?), but I won't change them because I mostly dwell in the chemistry related topics. I've put a note at Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Chemistry; please respond there if you have any comments. --Rifleman 82 18:53, 9 April 2007 (UTC)

I fail to see why we need a Category:Chemical engineering topics when we already have a Category:Chemical engineering and it has been there for a long time. Why do we need to have an essentially duplicate category? I will watch for your response here. Regards, - mbeychok 19:29, 9 April 2007 (UTC)
I also agree with the two editors above. I don't see why this category is necessary. Could you please give us a rationale? Also I disagree with you tagging biology and biomedical engineering topics that are clearly not chemical engineering related. What is your rationale for Biology as a Chemical Engineering topic? Biomedeng 20:12, 9 April 2007 (UTC)
Essentially, the Chemical Engineering Topics category was intended for articles about the discipline of chemical engineering, not just general articles having to do with it. When I tagged all of those articles, I was tagging the ones from the list article, because I felt that a category would better suit it. I did mention on its talk page that some cleanup would be necessary, and as I tagged them I tried to avoid ones that were clearly not directly related (such as zinc and zirconium, which would give reason to list every known substance or element). I'm sorry for not catching the Biology one; there really is no rationale for that. Sorry for any confusion here, I will definitely discuss any major changes thoroughly on talk pages in the future. ~ thesublime514talksign 20:26, April 9, 2007 (UTC)

A question

Hey Sublime. How can I revert an article back to a certain time? Thanks Sky Divine 13:13, 14 April 2007 (UTC)

thanks and hit counters

First, thanks for teaching me how to add my signature to the pages. I am slowly getting a hang of how to use Wikipedia. Second, I wanted to ask you if and how it is possible to add a counter to the Wikipedia pages. I have read that one can add hit counters to the MediaWiki however I have also read that Wikipedia does not turn on this capability as to not slow down their servers. Judging by the comment you made in your infobox, I am hoping that you might shed some light on this question. Many thanks!

  • Well, yes, it is a very easy fix but... It is more for people who own their own wiki. I imagine there are very few people who have access to the source code here at Wikipedia, if you are one of the lucky ones, just add it to the top following the instructions I gave. Renmiri 04:35, 3 July 2007 (UTC)

Hi, I noticed that you tagged Mike Cash for speedy deletion and then changed your mind. I was thinking about sending it to AFD (or maybe prodding it) but I wanted to ask you first what your rationale for not retaining the speedy tags was, in case there's something I've missed. Thanks. Recomendation for deletion.

Recommendation for deletion. Charmed I'm sure, my page may be far from your idea of perfect, but it certainly is not an advert, Stephen Pearce is as well recognised a figure as Darina Allen who has a page, and far less than others I have found pages for. As for incoherent, hmmmm a little harsh perhaps. I would like to draw your attention to far more glaring issues I have discovered on other pages which, though I am only learning (and to be honest feel unwilling to give more of my time contributing when the responses are so supercilious)came to my attention. On the Shanagarry site there was a reference to a swingers club which is untrue and obvious vandalism as it was hideously mistyped. Myfanwy Waring's page is a blatant ad and the previous link to Stephen Pearce from the Shanagarry page was to an English painter of the same name who died 40 years ago- hence why I decided to create a page for him. The same was true of an erroneous link to my cousin Kevin Pearce. But I did not realise I was stepping unwelcomed on such hallowed ground. And the best bit is, I've probably screwed up this objection on your talk page too!!!!!!!--Pearcelucy 20:45, 5 July 2007 (UTC)

Ben Stewart

I speedily closed your DRV of Ben Stewart because it was a move request for an existing article, which should go on WP:RM. --Coredesat 02:58, 7 July 2007 (UTC)

SORRY!

Sorry I was so narky, and thank you for your very human reply. I was just a bit peed that I had a page full of automated "could do betters" awaiting me. The one with your name attached and threat of deletion with such an abrupt and unfair reason, as I stated, I had been on many others with large inaccuracies etc which were not. Do you know the best thing? I think I have figured out how to write a talk comment that comes up properly!

Page moves

I all honesty, I'm getting very confused right now. Naming conventions say that there should be a space, meanwhile most of User:Koavf's page moves are being reverted as inappropriate moves.. I will revert the recent pagemoves about the spaces in between the periods, just because of the guideline, but I wuld like some clarity on this somewhere.. — Moe ε 20:47, 7 July 2007 (UTC)

Ugh, now I'm really confused.. :( — Moe ε 20:48, 7 July 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, that should shed some light on this sticky situation.. — Moe ε 20:52, 7 July 2007 (UTC)

You might like to reconsider your vote on my proposed move in light of the fact that I have suggested another option (Betty Williams (Welsh politician)) due to another Betty Williams being notable for "promoting a peaceful resolution to The Troubles in Northern Ireland", which could well be classified as politics. —Joe Llywelyn Griffith Blakesley talk contrib 15:01, 8 July 2007 (UTC)

Thanks...

...for the barnstar! I really appreciate it! -- P.B. Pilhet 21:22, 8 July 2007 (UTC)

The City Is Mine

Why would u change the name of the article from "The City Is Mine" to "The City is Mine." 'Is' is a word that is supposed to stay capitalized because it is not an article or conjunction, but is instead a verb. Just because it is a small word does not mean that it should be decapitalized. I will revert this unless you can find some hard evidence that 'is' cannot be written in uppercase. Noahdabomb3 22:33, 8 July 2007 (UTC)

Thanks man. Noahdabomb3 00:00, 9 July 2007 (UTC)

Talk page tabs

Thanks for your comments on the proposal.

I have quite a few tabs, and after this change they run off the screen for me. And, also, I don't think there's a need for a change. I was never confused by the + tab; since it's not completely necessary anyways, there's no need to make it massive.

I have a lot of tabs, too, but I think we need to make the functionality more obvious to newcomers. Are you aware that you can shorten the tabs however you want with your user javascript? I have "edit this page" shortened to "edit", for instance.

if(document.getElementById('ca-edit')) {
        document.getElementById('ca-edit').firstChild.innerHTML = 'Edit';
    }

So you can make the tabs say whatever you want on your end. The point of this proposal is not to make things better for experieneced editors, or for editors who have customized their interface, but for passers-by and newcomers who don't even know the site works yet. — Omegatron 12:17, 14 July 2007 (UTC)

Hey I have some public domain pictures of a golden age movie star and not quite sure how to clear them so they don't get removed?

  • I believe it should be listed at Wikipedia:WikiProject_CSS, not here
  • Since it's using CSS3, it would be nice to mention browsers it's gonna work with (e.g. not IE6)
  • Why do you use #bodyContent, all "system" links outside of it don't have "external" class anyway

Your monobook.js

Hi. I just edited your monobook.js page. I did this because your page was appearing in Category:Candidates for speedy deletion. I've dealt with the problem by adding // commented <nowiki> tags around the easy db script, which caused the problem. If there are any problems, please let me know immediately. I've fixed the problem caused by the easy db script before, so there probably won't be any trouble. Thanks, Nihiltres(t.l) 05:25, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

Something funny

Your edit to Meteora (album) that changed the spelling of "teh" to "the" was actually a mistake. That's how it's spelled in the video. I've removed the link already (totally non-notable), but I just thought it was funny. No points off for the effort. :-) - JNighthawk 05:42, 28 July 2007 (UTC)
