January 2011

[edit]

Thank you for your contributions. Please remember to mark your edits, such as your recent edits to Silver Blaze (film), as "minor" only if they truly are minor edits. In accordance with Help:Minor edit, a minor edit is one that the editor believes requires no review and could never be the subject of a dispute. Minor edits consist of things such as typographical corrections, formatting changes, or rearrangement of text without modification of content. Additionally, the reversion of clear-cut vandalism and test edits may be labeled "minor". Thank you. Ken_g6 (factors | composites) 06:32, 24 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on BritMovie requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. VQuakr (talk) 10:21, 24 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but you removed a speedy deletion tag from BritMovie, a page you have created yourself. If you do not believe the page should be deleted, you can place a {{hangon}} tag on the page, under the existing speedy deletion tag (please do not remove the speedy deletion tag), and make your case on the page's talk page. Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. Thank you. Ken_g6 (factors | composites) 17:53, 24 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Come On George!, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://www.mtv.com/movies/movie/54866/moviemain.jhtml.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. You may use such publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. (If you own the copyright to the previously published content and wish to donate it, see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for the procedure.) Thank you for fixing this issue. Please be very careful to avoid copying any copyrighted text from other web sites into Wikipedia, as per the copyright policy. This is very important to protect you and the project in the future. Also, you should always be sure to CITE your sources when you reference other materials. Again, welcome to Wikipedia. Feel free to let me know (on my talk page) if you have any questions or I can help with anything. Happy editing! Zachlipton (talk) 07:58, 25 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Non-existent categories

[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia! I'm delighted to see we have another editor focusing on classic films! A word of advice: please don't add non-existent categories to articles. Such categories appear in red. While many red links are useful to growing Wikipedia, red linked categories are not a helpful tool for navigation, as stated at WP:REDNOT. thank you! Stub tags

[edit]

Please be careful not to list "stubs" if the article does not meet the criteria for a "stub" which is reserved for start-up and very small articles. FWiW Bzuk (talk) 03:25, 16 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Italics

[edit]

Hi, just to let you know, some of your edits included removing italics from movie titles in the lead sentence. These are 'supposed' to be italicized, like so. Your edit summaries are a bit confusing, since you kept putting "fixed the italics", where you were actually really removing them all. This is just a friendly reminder, not attacking you or discouraging you from editing here. I also appriciate some of the articles you created on here. At the same time, I was a bit surprised when I saw you taking off the italic text. Oh well, no harm done. Take care. Tinton5 (talk) 03:20, 3 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I see that you are still doing this. Please STOP, and then revert all your erroneous edits. Read MOS:BOLDTITLE and MOS:ITALICS. - David Biddulph (talk) 05:11, 3 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I decided to go through and undo a bunch of these italics-removing edits instead of waiting for this user to reappear. Hopefully the user has realized that titles should indeed be italicized and this incident will not occur again. Princess Lirin (talk) 05:54, 3 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I just stopped by as well, having noticed the same ungodly mess everywhere. Varlaam (talk) 01:36, 6 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Crime film stub

[edit]

The changes you made to the stub have been reverted.

If you wish to experiment, then you should employ the "Show preview" button, then "Cancel", to the right of "Show changes". If you are using the word "hopefully", then you should not be clicking on "Save page".

Ronald bloody Shiner

[edit]

Is this some sort of bad joke?

Caesar and Cleopatra starred Ronald Shiner, Claude Rains, and Vivien Leigh, did it?

Some obscure comedian does not get listed first in the introductory paragraph ahead of the film's actual stars. That is obvious, and should not require me wasting my time pointing it out.

You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
