Thanks
Thanks for injecting some sanity into that series of discussions. Nothing annoys me more than people cherry-picking policy in order to delete perfectly valid content from unique, reliable sources. --Gene_poole 22:00, 3 November 2007 (UTC)
Requested Move
Oops, yeah... I don't know what I was thinking. I meant to move that page to a disambiguation page and then for Northwestern to be moved to the University. Is there an easy way to fix what I did? Thanks. Wikipediarules2221 20:02, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
Template
Why did you remove Movenotice ? ≈Tulkolahten≈≈talk≈ 17:01, 10 November 2007 (UTC)
- Because it is non-standard clutter on an article. older ≠ wiser 17:48, 10 November 2007 (UTC)
- I put it there just for the reference how it can work. For reference for this discussion [1]. ≈Tulkolahten≈≈talk≈ 17:56, 10 November 2007 (UTC)
- The placement of a requested move template on the article has been discussed previously. I don't have handy links to all of the discussions, one is here. While consensus can change, the current consensus is that the placement of the requested move notice is on the talk page not on the article. Currently the only move-related template designed for use on the article page is {{cleanup-articletitle}}. Beside the question of placement, {{Movenotice}} is non-standard in that it does not follow the guidelines at Wikipedia:Template standardisation. older ≠ wiser 18:18, 10 November 2007 (UTC)

CDPs for town centers of New england towns
Hi. I know you're very familiar with the municipal matters especially in relation to the Census Bureau treatment. I have suggested merging town center CDPs articles into the town article. Please see Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Vermont#Merging town center CDP articles into town articles and Talk:St. Johnsbury, Vermont#CDP change for details. I realize you are nominally against such mergers but I'd like to hear your comments about why the town center and the town should be treated as two different places. Please see St. Johnsbury, Vermont (my most recent version) for an example of my proposal. Thanks very much. --Polaron | Talk 19:21, 14 November 2007 (UTC)
Oregon CDPs
I dropped your name here: User talk:Nyttend#Oregon communities, if you would care to comment. Perhaps there is a better place to carry on the discussion. Feel free to move it. Thanks! Katr67 (talk) 20:22, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
Pewabic Pottery category issue
Dear Bkonrad:
I noticed you removed the category lists on Pewabic Pottery. I don't have a problem with that, as you are right, these are not "people." However, I am new to Wiki, and was wondering if there are other more appropropriate categories that should be there (e.g., places? in particular locales)? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Of course, you can feel free to add them yourself.
Thank you in advance for any assistance. 7&6=thirteen 00:30, 4 December 2007 (UTC)Stan
Michigan geography
Dear Bkonrad:
Well, I'm back. I see you've been busy, especially in the area of Michigan geography. If you go to MY CONTRIBUTIONS you will see that I too have been busy. This could be fertile ground for your yeoman-like work.
Based on some of your recent changes (just editorial/format) it appears that I may have been out of sync with some of your format issues. Sorry about that. In any event, if you want to touch up the articles that I've been redoing, you are invited.
I've actually got to go back to earning a living.
Best to you. 7&6=thirteen (talk) 20:24, 6 December 2007 (UTC)Stan
Sturgeon Point Light Station references need work
I've made some additions to Sturgeon Point Light Station but the references are screwed up and repairing them is beyond me. Your help would be appreciated. Thanks. 7&6=thirteen (talk) 14:04, 8 December 2007 (UTC) Stan
Dear Bkonrad: Thanks for your prompt reply on Sturgeon Point Light Station.
I thought the a b c d e f g thing in the notes was real odd. Looks messy to me. Maybe I don't know what I'm looking at, of course. 7&6=thirteen (talk) 15:19, 8 December 2007 (UTC)Stan
Thanks for the information. I just found it confusing -- which I guess means its not something I especially like. But I'm not trying to suggest that it was "improper" or unformulaic . . .
Happy holidays to you, Older & Wiser

Wabash-Illinois Company Merger Edits
Hello, there!
New to Wikipedia, so I'm sorry if I've done something incorrectly. Is this the proper forum to ask why my edits were reverted? If not, I'm sorry and can you tell me where I go to do that?
But just in case this is the right place, can you tell me why my edits were reverted? I'd like for my information to be included in the final page. Thanks!
Your friend, Clay (talk) 17:00, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
- Sorry if I clicked Rollback unfairly, I should have provided an edit summary. I only noticed that you added the unreferenced statement The merger was celebrated in June, with officials thinking that waiting for the weather to turn would be best. There was a kite flying competition, in which the rules dictated that no man be allowed to trip another and the winner hold title to the company's store cellar., which seemed a little dubious to me. If there is a source for this information, feel free to restore it with appropriate reference. older ≠ wiser 17:07, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
Older ₮ Wiser,
Not at all! I'm new to Wikipedia, and I'm glad to see that there's so many folks making sure the information on this site is the genuine article. Regarding my information about the company merger, I understand, but so were the times, I guess! I have the journals of my great-great Uncle Robert Allen who worked at the company as a recordskeeper. I'm unsure of how to reference these. Do you have any advice? Thanks so much.
And please accept my apology for putting it in there without the reference in the first place! That was a real lunkheaded thing to do! Good catch!
Thanks for your help and understanding, from,
Your friend, Clay (talk) 19:51, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
- Well, if unpublished, journals are difficult to reference, as they are essentially unverifiable. Are they personal journals or were they kept as part of his duties with the company? If the latter, you might try something like,
- Allen, Robert. Date of entry. Journal of the Wabash-Illinois Company (or whatever title might be appropriate).
- Of course if anyone challenges the information, it'd be up to you to produce some sort of satisfactory proof that the journals are authentic and that you are representing the information accurately. older ≠ wiser 20:01, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
Older ₮ Wiser,
Great! Thanks so much for the help! I can't wait to work on this a bit more tomorrow! Thank you for your kindness and understanding.

James Watson
_ _ Googling
- "James Watson" actor
gives 1/4 the hits that
- "James Watson" DNA
does, even tho the 2nd misses the "James D. Watson" refs.
- "James Watson" 1922 judge
and
- "James Lopez Watson" are both in the low 4 figures.
And IMO the other James Watsons are less likely to be sought. Unless i am mistaken, James D. Watson is the primary person meant by "James Watson", even if the initial is more often used (which i haven't checked, bcz it doesn't bear on what should happen when a user asks for "James Watson").
_ _ IMO James Watson should be a Rdr to James D. Watson, with a ToP Dab to James Watson (disambiguation) that begins "James Watson redirects here....". I'd be glad to do the work, but you have, laudably, paid enuf attention to the Dab James Watson, including moves, that your opinion in advance might save me from wasted effort. Am i missing something? Thanks for your time in any case.
--Jerzy•t 01:12, 10 December 2007 (UTC)
- That was a long time ago. I wouldn't necessarily object to the DNA guy being the primary topic, but others might. It is a fairly common name and others might have objections. I'd suggest getting other opinions at WP:RM. older ≠ wiser 03:40, 10 December 2007 (UTC)

Franz Josef Strauß
Might I ask you to take a look at the new discussion going on at Franz Josef Strauß? Yes, it is an ancient topic (the use of ß on en-wiki), but this is one of the most prominent articles in which this issue is of significance. Given your experience, your input would be very much appreciated. Unschool (talk) 01:39, 21 December 2007 (UTC)
Merge proposal
It has been proposed that WP:EPISODE be merged into WP:WAF. Your input is desired, so please comment here. Ursasapien (talk) 11:11, 21 December 2007 (UTC)
The "common sense provision is well taken care of with a Wiktionary link, prominently displayed at the top of this dab. WP:NOT#DICT is very clear about dictionary definitions in general and about slang/jargon uses in particular—they are not allowed on pages. Please revert your change or seek outside advice if you disagree with my interpretation of the guidelines. Thanks.—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); 15:13, 21 December 2007 (UTC)

Commercial link in Gaylord, Michigan
I note that 24.180.198.126 continues repeatedly to put in a link to a website that starts with the heading
"REAL ESTATE IS MY BUSINESS"
There is nothing else on that website. It is a commercial link, pure and simple. It does NOT belong in Wikipedia.
Moreover, he/she removes links to the Chamber of Commerce, which actually has lots of community information links, and to the airport. This is very strange.
Apparently this contributory wants to be the ONLY 'official Wikipedia endorsed real estate agent in Gaylord, Michigan.
It is wrong.
I don't know what to do, but would be happy to entertain any suggestions or assistance.

Thanks for the revert. However, I predict that they will be back.
In any event, resolution of such problems is 'above my pay grade.' 7&6=thirteen (talk) 23:54, 26 December 2007 (UTC)Stan
I broke the municipal listing up into cities, villages, townships, and unincorporated. Successful, but could not get it into two columns. Could you help, please. 7&6=thirteen (talk) 22:32, 27 December 2007 (UTC)Stan
What is the matter with you?
Why are you constanly undoing everything I do? What on earth is wrong with you????? Adrienne (talk) 18:02, 30 December 2007 (UTC)
- I don't actually undo everything that you do. That you happen to edit articles on my watchlist really is purely coincidental. I do try to edit articles to existing guidelines though. I'm sorry if you find that problematic. older ≠ wiser 18:08, 30 December 2007 (UTC)
