Subsequent to my comment of 21 June, I investigated more of the offline references. Of seven found: two are simply photo captions, one is a photo caption plus a sentence saying the same thing in the article, three are passing mentions buried late in the "Drama" column, and one consists of four sentences, two of which are quotes from her.

Two citations to the San Diego Union did not check out. There are stories on those topics within a day of the dates given, but not with the given titles or on the given pages. Both are passing mentions. The first: "Partial tuition scholarships for 1 year were awarded John McClelland, baritone; James Hecker, Pianist, and Maralou Gray, coloratura soprano." The second: "Proteges who will receive the certificates include Gilbert Gervaise, pianist, first award; John McClellan, baritone, James Jecker, pianist, and Maralou Gray, coloratura soprano."

As with the citations checked earlier, there's a significant disconnect between what the draft says and what the sources support.
