Welcome
[edit]Hello Bigglesjames and welcome to Wikipedia! I'm glad you've chosen to join us. This is a great project with lots of dedicated people, which might seem intimidating at times, but don't let anything discourage you. Be bold!, explore, and contribute. Try to be civil by following simple guidelines and signing your talk comments with ~~~~ but never forget that one of our central tenets is to ignore all rules.
If you want to learn more, Wikipedia:Tutorial is the place to go, but eventually the following links might also come in handy:

Float around until you find something that tickles your fancy. One easy way to do this is to hit the random page button in the navigation bar to the left. Additionally, the Community Portal offers a more structured way to become acquainted with the many great committees and groups that focus on specific tasks. My personal favorite stomping grounds are Wikipedia:Translation into English as well as the cleanup, welcoming, and counter-vandalism committees. Finally, the Wikimedia Foundation has several other wiki projects that you might enjoy. If you have any more questions, always feel free to ask me anything on my talk page. Again, welcome! -- Draeco 05:38, 15 June 2006 (UTC)
Johnsonville Branch
[edit]No worries, the revert was (I thought) to restore the sidings you removed previously - although now I need to add the Thorndon fly-over to the NIMT route map! --Lholden 22:45, 25 June 2007 (UTC)
Guided bus
[edit]Please see the note I added to the Guided bus talk page about the Essen guided bus system. I think the Essen article should have a subsection about the system or a reference to a standalone article. The Essen article currently just barely mentions the system in its Public Transport section. There is no standalone article about the Essen guided bus in Wikipedia, but perhaps you'd like to write one. Folklore1 (talk) 19:54, 13 July 2010 (UTC)
There is some good info in the German Wiki articles:
There should be a short seperate article but translated from German (how do you cross link artciles between different language wikis ?) Bigglesjames (talk) 04:44, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
Hello! I am working on the russian version "Burnside High School" article, which currently has short history section in wikipedia. I am writing you to ask - is there a possibility for you to visit a National Library at Welligton and obtain an electronic copy of book "Choosing the right path : Burnside High School 1960-2010 / Paul O'Connor" (http://natlib.govt.nz/records/21643829), and put some information into the article? Also I can buy a hard copy of that book. Could you give me an advice, if it's possible? I'll be happy to get any version and any part of that book. Thank you for your time, --Voyagerim (talk) 13:28, 7 June 2015 (UTC)
Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Invitation to an in-person meetup in Mohua / Golden Bay
[edit]Thinking about your summer break? Think about joining other Wikipedians and Wikimedians in Golden Bay / Mohua! Details are on the meetup page. There's heaps of interesting stuff to work on e.g. the oldest extant waka or New Zealand's oldest ongoing legal case. Or you may spend your time taking photos and then upload them.
Golden Bay is hard to get to and the airline flying into Tākaka uses small planes, so we are holding some seats from and to Wellington and we are offering attendees a $200 travel subsidy to help with costs.
Be in touch with Schwede66 if this event interests you and you'd like to discuss logistics. Schwede66 09:14, 13 November 2023 (UTC)
