Thanks for that explanation. I would suggest, however, that using the term in this context is a little ambiguous, because one of its other common meanings is "with respect to". (Is there a difference in usage of that term between Commonwealth and US English?) Perhaps another term could be used that reduces ambiguity? Yes, I see your point. English is essentially similar in both places, but I do see what you are explaining to me. In this context, I think the term more prone to be understood clearly is "rather than" as opposed to "vis-a-vis".

Yes, I think I could help with at least one extra language that isn't well represented among the current contributors, as well as various others. I would like, though, to consider it as I do no know how much time it would consume (I wouldn't want to commit without being able to significantly contribute for the long haul).
