File permission problem with File:Buddy Bregman's final sessions.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Buddy Bregman's final sessions.png. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Managing a conflict of interest

[edit]

Information icon Hello, BerkeleyS1. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places, or things you have written about in the article Buddy Bregman, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic, and it is important when editing Wikipedia articles that such connections be completely transparent. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, we ask that you please:

  • avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your family, friends, school, company, club, or organization, as well as any competing companies' projects or products;
  • instead, you are encouraged to propose changes on the Talk pages of affected article(s) (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or to the website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Please take a few moments to read and review Wikipedia's policies regarding conflicts of interest, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies. Thank you. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 13:54, 11 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Could you please explain why you object to the improvements I made to the above page? — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 14:52, 11 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

If you disagree with an edit, the normal procedure is to discuss on the article talk page, not to repeatedly revert to your preferred version without explanation. That's called edit warring, which is frowned upon, and can even get you blocked from editing. Please feel free to post your concerns here or on the article talk page. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 15:12, 11 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Diannaa, I have no conflict of interest - I'm not a friend, not a family member, not an employee, not receiving money (nor in receipt of any money), never likely to be in receipt of any money, and not in a business either promoting or opposing Buddy Bregman and his projects. Simply, Mr Bregman is now in his mid 80's and very ill with dementia, he can no longer maintain his website or ever again speak publicly about his life and achievements. Ten years ago, I worked with him on his 'quietly historic' final pop/jazz project and, most regrettably, later, we 'fell-out' over the financing of that project. I'm also now unwell and unable to afford to fund a dedicated Buddy Bregman website...As such, in the event that my condition worsens or Mr Bregman passes away - which, sadly, seems quite likely - I've repeatedly added to my necessarily reflective, yet, I believe, important 'first-person-source' narrative, which, in both our absences, will duly stand the test of time on Wikipedia. I appreciate that you have an important curatorial job to do, yet, at the click of a button, you have it within your gift to restore my gently illustrative words and photographs to this tiny, tiny corner of the mighty Wikipedia project...Given all of the above, I truly wish you well, yet sincerely hope you'll now find it within your heart to walk-on, pass-by and leave us (Buddy & me), quietly, be.

With thanks for your patience and understanding, Berkeley

Since you worked with Bregman on one of his projects, you do indeed have a conflict of interest, and you should not be editing on this topic. Wikipedia is not intended as a memorial site, and you should not attempt to use it in that manner. That's not its purpose. We're an online encyclopedia, and are not interested in hosting memorial pages. Please consider posting your material on one of the many free hosting websites such as Wordpress. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 20:41, 11 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Buddy Bregman. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include, but are not limited to, links to personal websites, links to websites with which you are affiliated (whether as a link in article text, or a citation in an article), and links that attract visitors to a website or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the page, please discuss it on the associated talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. ~ Rob13Talk 12:52, 8 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
