- @Diannaa: Thank you for bringing this to my attention. I'm trying to build a lead for the page as part of a greater effort to make it a featured list. I'll try altering the prose to make it my own, and if I need to take more references from Gordon's main page, I'll do as your message suggests. March 2017 WikiCup newsletter
And so ends the first round of the competition, with 4 points required to qualify for round 2. It would have been 5 points, but when a late entrant was permitted to join the contest in February, a promise was made that his inclusion would not result in the exclusion of any other competitor. To achieve this, the six entrants that had the lowest positive score of 4 points have been added to the 64 people who otherwise would have qualified. As a result, some of the groups have nine contestants rather than eight. Our top four scorers in round 1 were:
- Cas Liber, last year's winner, led the field with two featured articles on birds and a total score of 674.
- Iry-Hor, a WikiCup newcomer, came next with a featured article, a good article and a tally of 282 bonus points for a score of 517. All these points came from the article Nyuserre Ini, an Ancient Egyptian pharaoh,
- 1989, another WikiCup newcomer, was in joint third place at 240. 1989 has claimed points for two featured lists and one good article relating to anime and comedy series, all of which were awarded bonus points.
- Peacemaker67 shared third place with five good articles and thirteen good article reviews, mostly on naval vessels. He is also new to the competition.
The largest number of DYKs have been submitted by Vivvt and The C of E, who each claimed for seven, and MBlaze Lightning achieved eight articles at ITN. Carbrera and Peacemaker67 each claimed for five GAs and Krishna Chaitanya Velaga was well out in front for GARs, having reviewed 32. No featured pictures, featured topics or good topics yet, but we have achieved three featured articles and a splendid total of fifty good articles.
So, on to the second round. Remember that any content promoted after the end of round 1 but before the start of round 2 can be claimed in round 2. Invitations for collaborative writing efforts or any other discussion of potentially interesting work is always welcome on the WikiCup talk page. Remember, if two or more WikiCup competitors have done significant work on an article, all can claim points equally.
If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is a good article candidate, a featured process, or anything else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. If you want to help out with the WikiCup, please do your bit to help keep down the review backlogs! Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! May 2017 WikiCup newsletter
The second round of the competition has now closed, with just under 100 points being required to qualify for round 3. YellowEvan just scraped into the next round with 98 points but we have to say goodbye to the thirty or so competitors who didn't achieve this threshold; thank you for the useful contributions you have made to the Cup and Wikipedia. Our top scorers in round 2 were:
- Cas Liber, led the field with five featured articles, four on birds and one on astronomy, and a total score of 2049, half of which came from bonus points.
- 1989 was in second place with 826 points, 466 of which were bonus points. 1989 has claimed points mostly relating to anime and Japanese-related articles.
- Peacemaker67 took third place with two FAs, one GA and seven GARs, mostly on naval vessels or military personnel, scoring 543 points.
- Other contestants who scored over 400 points were Freikorp, Carbrera, and Czar. Of course all these points are now wiped out and the 32 remaining contestants start again from zero in round 3.
Vivvt submitted the largest number of DYKs (30), and MBlaze Lightning achieved 13 articles at ITN. Carbrera claimed for 11 GAs and Argento Surfer performed the most GARs, having reviewed 11. So far we have achieved 38 featured articles and a splendid 132 good articles. Commendably, 279 GARs have been achieved so far, more than double the number of GAs.
So, on to the third round. Remember that any content promoted after the end of round 2 but before the start of round 3 can be claimed in round 3. Remember too that you must claim your points within 10 days of "earning" them. Invitations for collaborative writing efforts or any other discussion of potentially interesting work is always welcome on the WikiCup talk page. FAC proposal
Hi, Bcschneider. I have to say that I don't personally see the article as being of FA standard. It's hard to put a finger on it, but I just don't have a feeling that it's there. Even if you look at some of the FAs we have on races, they just look more fully developed than this one. I'm proud of this article and think it's a good GA, but that's as far as it goes. Sorry if this provides a shock, but I have to call them like I see them or I won't be very credible as a reviewer. Giants2008 (Talk) 13:17, 7 June 2017 (UTC)
- @Giants2008: I see. No worries, everyone is entitled to his or her own opinion and I appreciate your honesty :) I know you said it's hard to put a finger on it, but what exactly do you think is lacking? I'll also note that our other FA race reports are all Formula One or NASCAR races, so in terms of in Indy race report going to FA, there's nothing we can really compare it to because, well, no Indy FA race reports exist at the moment. --Bcschneider53 (talk) 13:34, 7 June 2017 (UTC)
- If you look at some of those FA articles, the various sections are generally more fully developed than in this article. Some of that is because sources for NASCAR and Formula One are more readily available, but I can't promise that there aren't reliable sources out there that would make this article more comprehensive. In addition, over a quarter of the references are archived CART articles, which are okay for GA, but I think the number of primary sources might be questioned in an FA review. Giants2008 (Talk) 17:30, 7 June 2017 (UTC)
- @Giants2008: Thanks again for your quick responses, something I don't always get around here. I'm not one to back down from a challenge...if I take some of these into consideration and improve this thing, would you be willing to be a co-nom if you thought this had a shot after said improvements were made? I'll do my best to research and see what I can do. Regarding primary sources, I've used a lot of them in the NASCAR FAs and I've never had that objection come up, though I agree that it would be good to get some more secondary ones in the article if they're out there. --Bcschneider53 (talk) 18:23, 7 June 2017 (UTC)
- Truthfully, I can't see myself ever wanting to co-nom this one. While I'm not one to complain about potential improvements to an article I started, I'm content with it being a GA. Giants2008 (Talk) 20:10, 7 June 2017 (UTC)
- Ok, that's fine then. I'll see if I can surprise you and bring it up to FA status :) --Bcschneider53 (talk) 22:12, 7 June 2017 (UTC)

My Danica Patrick comment
Nothing that I said in my comment was untrue. Danica has one win in more than 300 races. She has never won in NASCAR and has seldom been competitive. As a driver she is mediocre at best. What I said here in my edit change the other day was totally true.
I posted it knowing full well it would probably not "stick."
I can understand your unwillingness to leave my comment.
Still it seems to me that without such information the article about her is somewhat less than honest.
If Danica, with her record, were male, hardly any attention would be paid to her.
I would feel very differently about her if I saw ANY improvement. But there has been none. And in my view, she is not a very nice person based upon her frequent negative public comments and her nastiness toward fans who pay good money to see her and deserve better treatment.
And there have been other female drivers who have had more than one win.
Considering her record, I find it a stretch to call Danica "successful," except in terms of the money that she has made. If I am "not neutral" then so be it, but I find it hard to consider her "successful" with 1 win in more than 300 races and no wins in NASCAR.
Anyway, thank you for your message. And in advance for reading this reply. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.161.182.9 (talk) 18:59, 28 June 2017 (UTC)
- @173.161.182.9: Let me walk through one by one:
- Yes, it is true (I even noted that in my edit summary :)). Just because it is true does not mean it should be on a Wikipedia page. Your edit included phrases such as "Though some claim" and "only" one win, which may be seen as coming from an un-neutral point of view, even if that's not what you meant. It also deleted several of her stats from the lead.
- I would generally advise against making edits that you "know full well" may get reverted :)
- It's not that I'm unwilling, it's that I'm trying to follow the guidelines laid out in WP:NPOV.
- I respect your opinion, but again, Wikipedia is not a place for opinions. Her article lists out her credentials. Perhaps the lead needs some expansion to deal with her NASCAR struggles a bit more, but your edit deleted most of her credentials and simply stated, "She's never won."
- "If Danica, with her record, were male, hardly any attention would be paid to her." Probably, but again, that isn't something that needs to be mentioned in an encyclopedia article.
- "frequent negative public comments and her nastiness toward fans" Hey, she's had a lot of bad accidents that weren't her fault. Everyone gets frustrated from time to time. How about all the other autograph sessions she's held? You haven't heard of them because they were normal, there was nothing to report. When she blows up, of course the media tries to make a big fuss out of it.
- That's irrelevant. Extensively comparing her to other females is not the point of the her article, she is the point of her article.
- The article simply says "She is the most successful woman in the history of American open-wheel racing." This is true by definition. Two top-fours at Indy and a win. No other woman has done that. If the article said, "she is one of the most successful racing drivers in history", obviously that would be a stretch.
- You're welcome. It takes a little while to learn the ropes, and I sympathize with anonymous IPs because I was an anonymous IP. I'm still learning things around here myself. Feel free to reply with any other questions you may have. --Bcschneider53 (talk) 19:28, 28 June 2017 (UTC)

WikiCup 2017 July newsletter
The third round of the competition has finished in a flurry of last minute activity, with 288 points being required to qualify for round 4. It was a hotly competitive round with all but four of the contestants exceeding the 106 points that was necessary to proceed to round 4 last year. Coemgenus and Freikorp tied on 288, and both have been allowed to proceed, so round 4 now has one pool of eight competitors and one of nine.
Round 3 saw the achievement of a 26-topic Featured topic by MPJ-DK as well as 5 featured lists and 13 featured articles. PanagiotisZois and SounderBruce achieved their first ever featured articles. Carbrera led the GA score with 10, Tachs achieved 17 DYKs and MBlaze Lightning 10 In the news items. There were 167 DYKs, 93 GARs and 82 GAs overall, this last figure being higher than the number of GAs in round 2, when twice as many people were taking part. Even though contestants performed more GARs than they achieved GAs, there was still some frustration at the length of time taken to get articles reviewed.
As we start round 4, we say goodbye to the fifteen or so competitors who didn't quite make it; thank you for the useful contributions you have made to the Cup and Wikipedia. Remember that any content promoted after the end of round 3 but before the start of round 4 can be claimed in round 4. Remember too that you must claim your points within 10 days of "earning" them (some people have fallen foul of this rule and the points have been removed).
If you are concerned that your nomination, whether it be for a good article, a featured process, or anything else, will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. It would be helpful if this list could be cleared of any items no longer relevant. If you want to help out with the WikiCup, please do your bit to keep down the review backlogs! Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! DYK for 2017 Rainguard Water Sealers 600
On 10 July 2017, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article 2017 Rainguard Water Sealers 600, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that due to several accidents, only six cars finished on the lead lap at the 2017 Rainguard Water Sealers 600? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/2017 Rainguard Water Sealers 600. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, 2017 Rainguard Water Sealers 600), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Drivers list for NASCAR Heat 2
Hi Bcschneider53. I apologize for not citing a source for the confirmed drivers list for NASCAR Heat 2. I apologize since I was in a hurry to do this. I would also like to say that I am new to editing in Wikipedia so please excuse me for not adding the source since I am still new at this. There is a source however. The website is "www.nascarheat.com" The specific pages for the drivers list is "www.nascarheat.com/nascar-xfinity-series/" and "http://www.nascarheat.com/nascar-camping-world-truck-series/" 704Games have recently also added the confirmed drivers list for the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series drivers, yet they have not updated their website. I currently still do not have the time availability to list the sources on the Wikipedia page. If you have the availability to add the source I would greatly appreciate it! I have seen your page and now know that you are a student, so if you are not available at this time that is fine. Thanks! -SteeledDock541 — Preceding unsigned comment added by SteeledDock541 (talk • contribs) 23:22, 20 August 2017 (UTC)
- @SteeledDock541: Hello SteeledDock541! Nice to meet you. I'd like to refer you to WP:TRIVIA. The drivers list is not really necessary information for an article like this; it would be like including a list of every team in NBA 2K18. If you would like general assistance in learning how to cite sources, please see WP:CITE. I appreciate you reaching out to me. I sympathize with new, inexperienced editors because I was once one myself. Please let me know if you have any other questions! Also, please sign your talk page posts by typing "~~~~" after your post. Thank you! --Bcschneider53 (talk) 23:38, 20 August 2017 (UTC)
- @SteeledDock541: Since you're still doing it, I'd like to point out WP:GAMECRUFT, particularly Rule 8: "Lists of gameplay items, weapons, or concepts" (which includes drivers/"characters") are considered to be beyond the scope of video game pages and should not be added. There's a reason why we do not add individual drivers to past articles, like how we do not add all 32 teams and the Fantasy Challenge teams to Madden NFL 09. Zappa24Mati 22:09, 26 August 2017 (UTC)
What the hell???
TV show articles by default should contain a list of episodes as most on wikipedia do and what the do you mean by Game Show Wiki????????? 23:27, 30 August 2017 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 119.224.3.221 (talk)
- @119.224.3.221: Actually, even better, there's a Hollywood Game Night wiki with an Episode Guide of its own. Such lists are meant for fansites such as this. They're only used on Wikipedia for shows with a long-running theme or plot line (dramas, comedies, etc). If you want further explanation, read the AfD for the list of episodes. If you want to try to come to a new consensus on whether or not the episode lists should be included, take it to the talk page of Hollywood Game Night and we'll go from there. --Bcschneider53 (talk) 00:12, 31 August 2017 (UTC)
WikiCup 2017 September newsletter
Round 4 of the WikiCup has ended and we move forward into the final round. In round 4, a total of 12 FAs, 3 FLs, 44 GAs, 3 FLs, 79 DYKs, 1 ITN and 42 GARs was achieved, with no FPs or FTs this time. Congratulations to Peacemaker67 on the Royal Yugoslav Navy Good Topic of 36 items, and the 12 featured articles achieved by Cas Liber (5), Vanamonde93 (3), Peacemaker67 (2), Adityavagarwal (1) and 12george1 (1). With a FA scoring 200 points, and bonus points available on top of this, FAs are likely to feature heavily in the final round. Meanwhile Yellow Evan, a typhoon specialist, was contributing 12 DYKs and 10 GAs, while Adityavagarwal and Freikorp topped the GAR list with 8 reviews each. As we enter the final round, we are down to eight contestants, and we would like to thank those of you who have been eliminated for the useful contributions you have made to the Cup and Wikipedia. The lowest score needed to reach round 5 was 305, and I think we can expect a highly competitive final round.

LaMelo Ball GA nomination
Hello, seeing that you have reviewed basketball-related articles before, I was wondering whether you could take a look at the LaMelo Ball article and possibly consider starting the GA review (nomination on "Talk" page). Thank you. TempleM (talk) 16:33, 10 September 2017 (UTC)
- @TempleM: Thank you for reaching out to me; however, I don't currently have the time necessary to properly review an article of that size (and perhaps controversy, considering who his father is...). Still, best of luck with the nomination. If it's been a while and the nomination still hasn't been reviewed, ping me again and I'll consider it. Cheers, --Bcschneider53 (talk) 16:47, 10 September 2017 (UTC)
- @Bcschneider53: Would you consider reviewing the Alex Owumi article, which was nominated a while back but still hasn't been reviewed. Really interesting story as well. TempleM (talk) 18:31, 30 September 2017 (UTC)
- Wow, quite a story indeed. I'll think about it; from first glance, it appears to be in good shape, so that's a good sign. --Bcschneider53 (talk) 18:47, 30 September 2017 (UTC)

Thanks for the AOWR tags
I looked through my Watchlist today and saw you went through basically every article I've created/redirected/so that they're included under the WikiProject:AOWR guidelines. Thank you for doing this!
I focus more on creating start-class articles with the hopes of going back to them and fleshing them out later, but the few I have fleshed out I would like your opinion on. The 2001 Freightliner/G.I. Joe's 200 and 2001 Molson Indy Vancouver you rated 'C' Class in quality. I want to know what I need to do to make those articles better besides pictures (I wish fair-use IndyCar pics were as plentiful as they are in F1). I also want to let you know that I created/fleshed out the 2001 Lehigh Valley Grand Prix and 2001 Marconi Grand Prix of Cleveland articles but they're still listed as 'start' class. Any chances you could review those too?
Thanks in advance. Rocks with Salt (talk) 16:22, 18 October 2017 (UTC)
- @Rocks with Salt: Hi! Thank YOU for the creation of these articles! I am happy to take a look at those two. Give me a few minutes and I'll get back to you... --Bcschneider53 (talk) 16:34, 18 October 2017 (UTC)
- @Rocks with Salt: I'm quite impressed with the amount of work you've put in. Both are easily C-class material in my opinion. --Bcschneider53 (talk) 16:36, 18 October 2017 (UTC)
- @Bcschneider53: What does it take to get up beyond C Class though? That's what I would like to know. Rocks with Salt (talk) 17:21, 18 October 2017 (UTC)
- @Rocks with Salt: Simply put, substantial references are required. From what I see right now, the race report sections of your articles lack inline citations. Instead, you have the ref in the section header, when it should be used multiple times in the race report. I'd also suggest adding as many references as you can in general. Also, FWIW, I'm not sure the "Race statistics" sections are entirely necessary. My race reports have attained GA and even FA-class status without them, and I personally think they may be a bit too trivial to merit entire sections and tables.
- Also, for a general B-Class guideline, see WP:BCLASS. For GA and FA (which require nomination processes), see WP:GAN and WP:FAC. --Bcschneider53 (talk) 18:25, 18 October 2017 (UTC)

ArbCom 2017 election voter message
Hello, Bcschneider53. Voting in the 2017 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 10 December. All users who registered an account before Saturday, 28 October 2017, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Wednesday, 1 November 2017 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
If you wish to participate in the 2017 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:42, 3 December 2017 (UTC)
Tony Stewart
I made edits on the Tony Stewart page knowing he didn’t race under the Monster Energy Series banner. He’s my favorite driver. I know this stuff. However, when the series is renamed, historical events are still referred to using the current name. For example, Jeff Gordon is referred to as a 4-time Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series (MENCS) Champion. Even though Jeff’s last championship win was in 2001. At that time it was NASCAR Winston Cup. He’s never raced under the MENCS name either. The Andrew Swain (talk) 01:06, 6 December 2017 (UTC)
- @The Andrew Swain: Thank you for your message. The standard here on Wikipedia is to use the title name under which the driver raced in his/her final season. For Stewart and Gordon, this would be the Sprint Cup Series. You are correct that they'll be referred to in the media today as MENCS champions, but this is largely due to sponsorship obligations with the television networks. If you would like to propose that we change this standard, feel free to do so at WT:NASCAR. --Bcschneider53 (talk) 01:47, 6 December 2017 (UTC)
