BLP proposed deletion of Henry Hoobin
I removed the BLP proposed deletion tag you placed on Henry Hoobin because the article, though unreferenced, claims the subject died in 1921. I think he might actually be notable; I'm working on stubbing the article to remove the WP:MEMORIAL content. —KuyaBriBriTalk 22:16, 2 March 2011 (UTC)

Hi, I got a message about an article I created, which I did not create, but edited. Perhaps it was meant to go to the author?
I removed a deletion tag from an article, Natasha Wheat, which had been nominated for speedy, and you replaced it.
This article (as mentioned in my edit summary) contains very little similarity to the deleted article, as all of the references are from after the deletion, and establish notability.
Best,

The copper toxicity cancer-coin hoax
The IP really was reverting a hoax, though doing it incorrectly. The thing about copper from coins and testicular cancer is a 4chan hoax, spread by one guy all around the nets. The citations are either lacking or about something else entirely. It's just nonsense. A search on pubmed finds no connection. I've removed it also. Find me one good cite and I'll willing to put it back, but discuss on the copper toxicity talk page first. Thanks! SBHarris 04:38, 11 March 2011 (UTC)

Pi Approximation Day
Hi
In "Holidays and Observances" for 14th March, It was given today as "Pi Day" which was actually "Pi Approximation Day" for which I edited the same. The reasoning for this is that actual value of "Pi=22/7" which makes 22nd of July as actual "Pi Day" and approximate value of "Pi=3.14" hence March 14th was called "Pi Approximation Day".
Some time after editing the page, I found that another editor changed 3rd March as Pi Day and 22nd July as Pi Approximation Day, which is wrong. So Ur interference is sought.

Foreign-language contributions
Hi. You tagged Barylka Yerahmiel as {{db-a2}} just now, but that is only for where an article already exists on another WP. It happens that I recently wrote out for another user advice on how to deal with foreign language articles, so here it is, collapsed not to take up to much of your page. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 20:38, 16 March 2011 (UTC)
Dealing with foreign-language contributions
|
---|
{{db-foreign}} or {{db-a2}} should only be used in the situation (not common in my experience) where an article from a foreign WP has been cut-and-pasted here (the point being that to do that loses the contribution record - there is a procedure at WP:TRANSLATE for doing it properly). The foreign WP reference should be included in the tag, e.g. {{db-foreign|source=es:Warekena}}. Much more usually, what we get is a foreign text input by somebody who probably doesn't know any other WP exists. The right tag then is {{notenglish}}, which is not a speedy request - because sometimes these articles are worth translating. When that expands on the article page, it gives you a message and a link to the place to paste it on WP:PNT, where someone who knows the language may pick it up and translate or PROD or whatever is appropriate. If you know or can guess the language, then put, e.g., {{notenglish|Spanish}}. That gives a more useful template, including a link to the relevant foreign Wikipedia, and also a link to Google Translate, which will show you a machine translation - rough and ready, but often good enough to tell you that the article is about a NN band or person and can be speedy tagged without bothering to list it at PNT. Do a Google check as well in case it is a copyvio, when it can be speedied G12. The Google Translate facility can be used to help guess the language - e.g. if it looks like Arabic but the translation makes no sense, try Farsi. There is a useful set of message templates such as {{contrib-ru1}} to give the author a bilingual message saying we require English and pointing him to the foreign WP. List of them at WP:PNT/T. The most exotic one I have yet used for real is {{contrib-sq1}}. |

Stephen Harper
You can not simply remove the edit for no legitimate reason. You have committed vandalism on the Stephen Harper web page. The fact that he was born in Toronto should appear in the brackets of the intro as my edit suggests. This is a crucial piece of information about his life. It currently stated the date he was born, but not the location. The people who read his page want to know both when and where he was born.

Emptied Sandbox - Got Warning Message
I've been trying to access my account so I could empty the Sandbox. I used it years ago when I made and entry. I don't remember the password. I tried the 'email a new password' option but it didn't show up in my inbox. Apparently I don't have access to that email account any longer. When I had created the posting back in 2006 I didn't know that my entries in the Sandbox would remain and be searchable (Google). Better etiquette would be to leave the Sandbox empty after using it to 'tweak' an entry.
I tried everything I could find on the Wikipedia site to get access to my account. Since I could not log in to my account, I emptied the Sandbox without logging in and I got a warning message from you. How can I access the account? If you can't send me a new password, please link that old account to this one (or however you do that). Thank you. Kalana Hihia2 (talk) 22:50, 24 March 2011 (UTC)

Friendly Advice
Hi Baseball Watcher! Your work in New Page Patrolling is very much appreciated -- and needed. I did however notice you recently tagged this article (now deleted) for CSD as an A7: Unremarkable Person. I encourage you to slow down with your NPP'ing, and read over the article a bit before tagging. That article, which I re-tagged as a G10: Attack Page, was certainly so, and was deleted as one. If you had taken a closer look over the article you would have seen the profanity and rude words used to describe whomever this was about. I also encourage you to take a look over WP:NPP and WP:CSD. Once again, thank you for your hard work and happy editing! All the best Tofutwitch11 (TALK) 18:56, 25 March 2011 (UTC).

Switzerland
Dear Baseball watcher. I am afraid that Switzerland is a Central European Country. Before the Autumn of Nations it will be true that Switzerland is 'in the West', however the old subdivision of Europe (Eastern Europe and Western Europe) has little currency today, at least in European resources which I referenced. It is not only International Geographical Union and United Nations http://www.unisdr.org/news/v.php?id=5384, but also major media including Switzerland in Central Europe http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/country_profiles/1035212.stm. Nowadays we have the subdivisions based on culture, not political allegiance. http://shop.lonelyplanet.com/europe/central-europe-travel-guide-8/central-europe-switzerland-chapter-8 http://www.euractiv.com/en/global-europe/eu-switzerland-move-simplify-complex-bilateral-relations-news-501999 http://www.world66.com/europe/switzerland http://www.worldatlas.com/webimage/countrys/europe/ch.htm http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:CentralEurope.png
