Thanks for uploading Image:138 at new RD BWH16-4-06.JPG. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

[edit]

Thank you for uploading Image:S9 BWH17-4-06BFplatformB.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you created this image yourself, please look at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#For image creators, select one of those tags, and add it to the image. To do that, simply go to Image:S9 BWH17-4-06BFplatformB.jpg, click "edit this page", and add the appropriate tag. Be sure to remove the current tag indicating a lack of licensing!

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask me at User talk:Angr or at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. —Angr 21:58, 7 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello again! For the image to be kept, don't just remove the "No license" tag; you also have to add a license yourself, as I stated above. Thanks! —Angr 07:08, 12 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Barry - your photo was deleted by robot because it had no copyright status. It still seems to have none. To resolve this, upload it again, but this time where it has the "licensing" drop down box (scroll down to see this, if necessary), select "I made this myself" (or whatever). Unless you do this it will automatically be deleted again. Cheers, Hogyn Lleol 07:53, 12 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Please do not use styles that are unusual, inappropriate or difficult to understand in articles. There is a Manual of Style that should be followed. Thank you. Jeni (talk) 12:13, 26 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

ANI

[edit]

Following your continued disruption, I have started a thread regarding your actions at ANI Jeni (talk) 12:22, 26 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Complaint

[edit]

Following your removal of my name from all images I have donated to Wikipedia. I will now formally complain. Barrie Hughes

Image captions

[edit]

According to the Manual of Style page about image captions, they should not include credits (unless, for example, linking to a notable artist). It is unnecessary as the image is a link to the description page, where credits and licensing information can be found. snigbrook (talk) 12:28, 26 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Style

[edit]

Style is just that...some person's preference. I choose my style for photos I have contributed and paid the petrol to obtain. Jenni chooses hers. She can adopt her style for her own photos, she cannot insist on others adopting her preferences.

Jeni is correct..."Unless relevant to the subject, do NOT credit the image author or copyright holder in the article." It looks like self promotion and Wikipedia is NOT about promoting your own photos you can do that on your own website. TeapotgeorgeTalk 12:37, 26 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Personal information

[edit]

Please do not 'out' other Wikipedia editors by publishing personal details (such as real names) that they have not themselves published on-wiki, as you did recently in a number of edit summaries. I have had to suppress the summaries for these revisions. Happymelon 12:40, 26 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A note

[edit]

Please hold on with adding your name. Materialscientist (talk) 12:46, 26 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24-hour period. Additionally, users who perform several reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. When in dispute with another editor you should first try to discuss controversial changes to work towards wording and content that gains a consensus among editors. Should that prove unsuccessful, you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection. Please stop the disruption, otherwise you may be blocked from editing. Jeni (talk) 12:49, 26 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Edit warring

[edit]

Mr Hughes, if you continue to edit-war over the addition of image credits rather than seeking consensus through dispute resolution then it may be necessary to block you until you agree to cease edit-warring. CIreland (talk) 12:50, 26 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop edit warring over this kind of thing. Nobody wants to block you. Gwen Gale (talk) 12:52, 26 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

As the original author of some of the several pages and a major contributor to some...forcing style on people is control freakery. If this continues I will cease making contributions to wikipedia and you will lose my transport expertise. Jenni outs herself by usingh her real name. Barrie Hughes

Thank you for talking. Please listen to us. Materialscientist (talk) 13:02, 26 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'm fed up with Jenni's edit war...I hope someone is asking here to stop before I back out of her permanently. Barrie Hughes

He's blocked so he can only reply here. The Rambling Man (talk) 13:08, 26 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Mr Hughes, please see Wikipedia:Captions#Credits: Photo credits don't often go in captions, unless the photo or image is encyclopedic as a topic in and of itself. Readers can indeed see that you are credited with these images, by clicking on them from the article(s). Gwen Gale (talk) 13:09, 26 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Goodbye Wikipedia..all for the sake of some control freakery on style. I can't be bothered anymore. Barrie Hughes

We really do value you contribution, and the conflict of the last hour is regrettable, but, please understand that the editors who reverted your additions acted according to wikipedia (WP) guidelines and manual of style rather than personal preference. If and when you wish to reply, please do so at my talk, not here - this will avoid "edit conflict" when saving a message. As Gwen mentioned above, WP guidelines are to avoid credits in the figure captions of the articles, but they may (and should) be present in the image file. Would this be acceptable for you? Materialscientist (talk) 13:19, 26 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello

[edit]

Hi Barrie, please take a little time to consider, you are a valued contributor, it is simply that accreditation of pictures can not be done like that, and discussion is the way to progress when these issues arise. Off2riorob (talk) 13:21, 26 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
