Thanks for signing up for this project. The project is not as active as it could be and so we can always use more help. If you haven't done so already you might want to add Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Sailing to your watch list as this is where much of the background discussion occurs. You may also want to watch Wikipedia:WikiProject Sailing/New articles as this is where newly created articles get listed for peer review. Having a look over these new articles is a great way to get a feel for how things are done on the project and also most new articles need reviewing anyway. If you have any questions you can leave me a note or post at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Sailing, either way you will get a quick response. - Ahunt (talk) 12:42, 12 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Seal of University of Huelva.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 17:46, 27 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

An article you recently created, World Military Sailing Championship, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) It's very nicely structured, except most of the information in the article is not sourced so as to pass WP:VERIFY. Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Douglas Gill International requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a company, corporation or organization that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Your draft article, Draft:Zhik

[edit]

Hello, Banderas. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Zhik".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been deleted. If you plan on working on it further and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. Liz Read! Talk! 03:57, 27 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Banderas,

If you believe a category should be deleted, renamed or merged, please nominate it at Categories for Discussion. Removing the contents of a category and "blanking it", is called "emptying out of process" and is considered inappropriate. Please do not do this again.

If you have questions about working with categories, please bring them to Wikipedia talk:Categories for discussion and some of the editors who focus on categories can address your concerns. Liz Read! Talk! 02:17, 10 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Non-notable organization

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

Please don't remove every category from a page when you make a eponynomous category

[edit]

I've noticed that you've made several eponymous categories, such as Category:Mediterranean Shipping Company, and then you removed all the categories from the Mediterranean Shipping Company[1]. Please don't do that. That's not very helpful as it leads to overcategorization of a category, and uncategorization of the page. As a general rule, eponymous categories should only have categories that apply to everything in the category, so categories like Companies founded in 1931, shouldn't be added to the category, and they certainly shouldn't be removed from the page.Mason (talk) 03:31, 23 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Banderas

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username Broc, and I thank you for your contributions.

I wanted to let you know, however, that I've proposed an article that you started, Rolex Series, for deletion because it meets one or more of our deletion criteria, and I don't think that it is suitable for inclusion in the encyclopedia. The particular issue can be found in the notice that is now visible at the top of the article.

If you wish to contest the deletion:

  1. Edit the page
  2. Remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. Click the Publish changes button.

If you object to the article's deletion, please remember to explain why you think the article should be kept on the article's talk page and improve the page to address the issues raised in the deletion notice. Otherwise, it may be deleted later by other means.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Broc}}. And remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. Thanks!

Also, if there are other teams in the South Atlantic Intercollegiate Sailing Association (SAISA) which you would like to create, it would be great to have our whole conference represented and we can provide examples. Hi Sailmonkey. Thanks, I'm glad you like them. Unfortunately, User:EugeneZelenko has deleted dozens of college burgees I had drawn and uploaded, including NC State University, because he told me "Deleted flags were based on non-trivial college logos. Please also read Commons:Derivative works". I certainly don't agree, but there is nothing I can do. Banderas (talk) 18:14, 7 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
